Chapter 469: Strong Reinforcements
Chapter 469: Strong Reinforcements
Golden-red flames erupted across the sky, instantly illuminating the area like daylight.
Within the blaze, Tian Ma Xing Kong lunged sideways, directly intercepting the incoming black Pulse.
He was entirely enveloped in the energy of Phoenix Sky Drive, merged with the technique, slicing downward through the air as he dove into the crater below.
Two seconds later, an explosive roar echoed from the pit.
Before the sound had faded, dozens of chaotic black beams shot out, forcing Hong Hu back several meters from the crater’s edge.
"Still not enough to finish it off…?" Zhao Ying Wang, standing at the rear, could only watch helplessly. The aftermath of forcibly activating Rashomon, combined with severe injuries sustained during combat, had temporarily robbed him of his fighting ability. Even if he pushed forward now, he would only be a burden.
"Ugh!" A few seconds later, Tian Ma Xing Kong cried out in pain as he was sent flying backward from the crater, crashing onto the street.
"This is the derivative being’s capability…?" Hong Hu’s face was drenched in sweat, his grip on the bow trembling. A bitter smile twisted his lips, edged with despair. "How are we supposed to kill a monster like this…?"
"It’s not over yet." Feng Bu Jue’s voice remained calm. "We’re still alive, aren’t we?"
"True", Tian Ma Xing Kong added, lying motionless on the ground. "Even if I can’t stand right now, there’s always a way."
"Are you kidding me?!" Hong Hu snapped. "What kind of nonsense dialogue is that to spout while flat on your back?!"
"Er… I need to ask", Feng Bu Jue said to Tian Ma Xing Kong, "how many times can you use your revival technique again?"
"That was a one-time consumable skill", Tian Ma Xing Kong replied without hesitation.
"Then… do you have any other trump cards?" Feng Bu Jue pressed. "Regular techniques are obviously useless. And I can’t afford another ki cannon right now." His hand had already slipped into his satchel as he spoke. At the slightest hint of "I’ve got another move", he’d toss over a Panacea without hesitation.
But…
"I only have Meteor Strike Fist as an active skill", Tian Ma Xing Kong admitted bluntly. "Phoenix Sky Drive was something the studio bought at a premium and forced me to install for the finals. Honestly… I’m not a fan of it."
This Tian Ma Xing Kong was undoubtedly a textbook case of middle school syndrome. Everyone knew players like him rarely succeeded in the Summit Confrontation. Unfortunately, the other members of "Stars" had flopped spectacularly in the preliminary rounds and repechage, leaving the studio’s executives with no choice but to pin all their hopes on Brother Horse.
At this very moment, the executives of "Stars" were tearing their hair out in frustration in a conference room, furiously critiquing Tian Ma Xing Kong’s actions…
……
Side note: The appearance of the derivative being had no effect on the broadcast. While the in-game players could no longer hear the pili-style commentary, viewers watching on screens still could. Additionally, since the broadcast only followed combat scenes involving players, events outside of combat remained unknown to the audience.
For example, during Fei Chai Shu and Shidao Wei Wang’s battle, the moment Tian Tian Gui Xiao and Shiva intervened, the four halted their fight. What happened afterward was invisible to viewers. Similarly, players captured by the derivative being, once rendered unable to resist, exited combat status. Thus, the audience never saw the moment they were dragged before Lute or killed instantly.
……
Back to the story…
"Hah! Hahaha…!"
When Feng Bu Jue heard Tian Ma Xing Kong’s answer, he laughed—not mockingly, but as if to say three words: You win this one.
"Fine… If it’s come to this, I’ll have to try myself." Hong Hu drew his bow, seemingly preparing a move. "But don’t get your hopes up… My killer move pales in destructive power compared to your flashy skills."
He pulled the bowstring taut, and a shaft of blue spiritual light coalesced before him.
"Feng Bu Jue…" Y2-Shining’s voice, resonant as a temple bell, rang out again. "I should thank you…"
Before the words faded, a figure radiating black light slowly ascended from the ki cannon’s crater.
"Your attack was like a wake-up call…" Y2-Shining sneered. "It gave me rebirth." They rotated their neck with a crack, utterly dismissive of Hong Hu’s charging technique. "I’d thought energy enhancement paled beside Beast Imitation Strengthening, but now I see my mistake…"
In that instant, Hong Hu’s bow blazed with light as energy peaked. Releasing the string, he loosed a spear-like blue beam that howled through the air.
Name: Spirit Blast
Skill Card Attribute: Active Skill, Permanently Mastered
Skill Category: Spirit Arts
Effect: Concentrate psionic energy into a single devastating strike (Cooldown: 30 minutes; requires a bow or crossbow-type weapon to activate)
Consumption: Current total spirit energy value (Cannot be forcibly overdrawn; spirit energy value must be ≥1 at time of use)
Learning Condition: Spirit Arts Proficiency D
Background: A ten-point simple yet highly practical technique. Converts all the user’s spiritual energy into a single arrow for attack. The more spirit energy the user possesses, the greater the damage.
"Heh… Three hundred plus converted spiritual energy?" Y2-Shining watched the momentum-heavy Spirit Blast approach, still smug. "To me now, it’s like a bucket of water to the face." At the arrow’s final moment, he swatted it aside, dispersing the beam effortlessly.
"Getting the idea yet?" Y2-Shining’s tone turned venomous. "With your data strength, you’ll never kill me." His gaze swept over the three still-standing foes. "I’d love to see… what new tricks a spineless cripple and three losers who couldn’t beat me at my peak can pull off."
"Hmm… Since you put it that way…" Feng Bu Jue was the only one daring to reply, "I’ll have no choice but to use that on you…" He reached into his satchel. "Before coming here, I struck a deal with a few heavyweights from the Realm of the Dead. Got something powerful… Originally meant for your leader, but…"
"You’d better keep it alive", a woman’s voice suddenly called from nearby.
Feng Bu Jue didn’t even turn around—already recognizing the speaker. "Heh… Fine fine, keep it alive it is." This time, Feng Bu Jue’s face finally broke into a delighted grin. He knew it: the strongest reinforcements had arrived.
