Chapter 469: Rescue
Chapter 469: Rescue
Liam and Hermione immediately prepared to rescue someone who had jumped from the cliff into the sea. After running to the shore, Liam pointed his finger at the sea, and a mist of ice-blue runes emerged from his finger.
The mist settled on the water and was immediately absorbed, and then an Iceboat, similar to the one Liam used during the Triwizard Tournament, appeared on the surface. Once the three of them had jumped into the boat, Liam tapped the side, and the boat shot forward like an arrow, heading toward the base of the cliff.
However, before they could reach the spot, they saw another figure jump off the cliff. Judging by his jeans and bare chest, it seemed he had jumped in to save someone.
Sure enough, when Liam and the others reached the base of the cliff, two heads suddenly emerged from the water. They saw an Indigenous American boy supporting a girl who had floated up. The three of them quickly pulled the two from the water and onto the boat.
Once on board, Hermione and Rose Crystal immediately began to revive the young woman. Fortunately, the girl hadn't been in the water for too long; she had only fainted due to the cold water and hypothermia. After Hermione used a Revival Charm and evaporated the water from her body with her wand, the girl regained consciousness.
"Belle! Can you hear me?" the Indigenous American boy asked anxiously, only relaxing when he saw the girl nod. It was then that he began to notice his surroundings, especially the Iceboat they were on and Rose Crystal sitting by the side.
"Who are you? Vampires?" he asked nervously. Liam could see his body tensing, like a wolf preparing to hunt. No, more than that, the boy transformed into a Giant Wolf right in front of everyone on the boat.
"Impediment Jinx", Liam said, waving his wand and sending the Giant Wolf splashing into the water. Rose Crystal then conjured several purple crystals out of thin air to bind the wolf's body. Despite its desperate struggles, it couldn't break free from the crystal restraints.
"We are British wizards, human beings", Liam said, clearly puzzled. Now he knew that this world had Werewolves and Vampires, but the problem was that these creatures were common in Western fantasy films and stories, so he couldn't pinpoint which world they were in.
"Human? Impossible. Only Vampires possess such extraordinary powers", the Indigenous American boy said, returning to human form in the water before being hauled back onto the boat by Liam. He looked shocked. "I've never heard of any normal human with such abilities."
"Just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist", Hermione said, opening her Dimensional Pouch to retrieve a thermos and pouring a cup of hot chocolate for the girl, who was trembling from the cold. "How do you prove someone is a Vampire? We can cooperate to show we aren't."
"That's simple. Vampires are cold, like a corpse, and their bodies are extremely hard, like marble. They also can't withstand sunlight", the Indigenous American boy explained. "Although it's always overcast here, if you are human, your bodies should have a normal temperature."
"I see!" At Liam's signal, Rose Crystal waved her hand, making the crystals disappear. Liam then extended his hand. "Let me introduce myself. I'm Liam Liang, a Wizard from Britain. This is my companion and fiancée, Hermione Granger. We are traveling in the American continent and happened to see someone who looked like they were attempting suicide by jumping into the sea, so we used magic to turn the ice into a boat to rescue them."
"Hello, my name is Jacob Black." The indigenous boy extended his hand and shook Liam's. Liam noticed that Jacob's hand was warmer than his own, as if he had a high fever.
"Isabella Swan, you can call me Bellatrix." The girl, who had recovered after drinking a cup of hot chocolate, extended her hand and shook Hermione's. "I'm just a regular human."
When they reached the beach, another Giant Wolf burst out. However, Jacob stopped it. "Sam, I'm fine. They are humans too, not enemies."
This Werewolf, Sam, transformed back into his human form, an indigenous man. "Are you sure? I saw you transform into a Werewolf."
"I'm fine, it was just a misunderstanding." Jacob shook his head. "They are Wizards from Britain, not Vampires."
"Wizards?" Sam's eyes widened in surprise. "I've never heard of Wizards in this world. Can they use Magic? Can they bring the dead back to life?"
"They can use Magic, but they can't bring the dead back to life. We are just humans, not gods." Liam interjected. "But when it comes to healing, we are much better than ordinary humans."
"Really? Could you help us with something? We need to save a person with a heart condition. He's dying." Sam's eyes lit up with hope as he looked at Liam. Considering that making friends with locals in a new world was better than going it alone, Liam nodded. "If it's not caused by magical factors, a single potion will do."
While many potions are not suitable for non-magical humans and can even be toxic, Liam, as an Alchemy Master, had created several potions that were safe for humans.
"Alright, leave this to me. You should head back to the Hospital Wing. I'll join you there shortly. Thanks, Sam." Jacob helped Bellatrix stand on the beach, while Liam, Hermione, and Rose Crystal followed Sam away from the beach.
They rode in a pickup truck to the Hospital Wing. Considering this was a facility for ordinary humans, Rose Crystal allowed Hermione to carry her like a regular doll. Although it seemed a bit odd for Hermione to carry a doll at her age, it was better than having Rose Crystal walk into the Hospital Wing on her own.
The town's Hospital Wing was small, and Liam thought that in a larger city, such a heart condition might not be fatal. However, through Hermione's Life Sense, Liam knew that the person in the emergency room would likely not survive the night if left untreated.
Sam spoke with a few people at the entrance, and they managed to get the doctor to step away, allowing Liam and the others to enter.
"Good, there's still a chance." Liam checked the patient with his wand and then pulled out a Crystal bottle containing a green liquid. He opened the cap and poured it down the patient's throat. Within minutes, the patient's face began to regain color. Seeing this, Liam informed the people outside that the patient would be fine.
"Thank you—thank you so much." A young female Werewolf grasped Liam's hand tightly. "Thank you for saving my father."
