Chapter 469: Reporting In
Chapter 469: Reporting In
After waiting for about ten minutes at the scene, the support team from the Central City finally arrived.
This time, in addition to the Secret Sect Review Bureau's assigned personnel, the Handling Bureau also dispatched a team. Upon arrival, they dealt with the corpses and conducted a preliminary investigation.
Upon learning of a suspected United Security convoy in the vicinity, a portion of the team was immediately dispatched to investigate.
However, this convoy was likely an imposter, as no one would openly display their name while attacking government officials.
After handling the situation at the scene, the team continued their journey, but the delay meant that by the time they reached the Central City, it was already dusk, and the sky had darkened.
Wu Han and Wei Dong sat in the Gaud Car, their eyes wide as they took in the towering skyscrapers lining the National Highway, the flickering holographic screens above, and the flashy advertisements emanating from the Interdimensional Connector.
Despite having heard about these sights from Chen Chuan, witnessing them firsthand still elicited a powerful sense of awe, prompting exclamations of surprise.
After entering the city, Chen Chuan used the Interdimensional Connector to send an oral report to the Handling Bureau, then sent a message to all his acquaintances, informing them of his return to the Central City.
However, due to the recent attack, the city's security company surprisingly offered him an advertisement for their security services. The advertisement included a tailored list of services based on his income at the Handling Bureau, along with a thoughtful suggestion for him to take advantage of their long-term loan services as a valued client.
As a member of the Handling Bureau, tasked with managing various violent crimes within the city, the offer of security services was indeed ironic.
He dismissed the advertisement and said to Wu Han, "Wu Xue Chang, let's first take Wei Dong to report to the academy, and then we'll find you a place to stay."
Wu Han replied, "Xue Di, I'll follow your lead. I haven't seen the Wu Yi Academy yet, so this will be an eye-opening experience."
Chen Chuan drove the Gaud Car onto the overpass, and after about an hour, they descended to see an eight-sided, towering skyscraper with traditional-style eaves and corners, surrounded by floating auspicious clouds and suspended lanterns. Chen Chuan: "That's the Mystic Palace Tower."
Wu Han exclaimed, "Wow, it's so tall and grand!"
While not the tallest in the Wu Ding District, the Mystic Palace Tower was indeed one of the tallest buildings in the area.
Chen Chuan raised his head, nodded to a figure in red through the car window, and the vehicle smoothly passed through the checkpoint and entered the underground parking lot. Here, they successfully connected to the academy platform and applied for Wei Dong's orientation, with Chen Chuan himself serving as the guide.
Normally, this would earn him evaluation points, but he no longer needed them.
Accompanied by Wu Han and Wei Dong, Chen Chuan took the elevator to the reception hall, where they saw small groups of students hurrying and whispering to each other.
Chen Chuan recalled his arrival shortly after the New Year, when the biological field resources were only accessible to him, allowing him to witness many wondrous and magnificent sights through the Interdimensional Connector.
With the start of the academic year approaching, the increased number of students led to a division of resources, and he could only see two Golden Armored Guardians standing at the entrance, still gazing down at the students with haughty expressions.
In reality, it was unusual for students to appear at the Mystic Palace Tower before the start of the academic year, as the place was known for its strict rules, making it inconvenient for many students to conduct their training and cultivation.
Most students opted to purchase services and train elsewhere, but with the academy's new policy of demoting students with low evaluation scores, all students were now competing to improve their skills to avoid being sent to the arena.
Chen Chuan first took Wei Dong to the registration point, where he registered and obtained a student ID card, and assigned a dormitory on the 40th floor, with Wei Dong's room being on the 40th floor.
As outsiders were not allowed in the dormitories, Chen Chuan left Wu Han in the reception hall and took Wei Dong to the 40th floor, then went to the 49th floor to settle his belongings. He then returned to the first floor via the elevator.
This time, he brought Chao Ming along, as he had promised to treat Chao Ming to a special meal. Chao Ming was very intelligent, so Chen Chuan didn't have to worry about him.
After waiting with Wu Han for a while, Wei Dong still hadn't come down.
Just then, Crimson Whip's voice came through the Interdimensional Connector: "A conflict occurred near the 20th-floor elevator between student ID '95124003' and student ID '95093701'. Please avoid the area."
Chen Chuan raised an eyebrow, recalling that Wei Dong's student ID was '95124003'.
So, he got into a fight with another student right after arriving?
However, Chen Chuan remained calm. In the Wu Yi Academy, such an incident wasn't a big deal. They would compensate for any damages, and with Crimson Whip overseeing, students wouldn't be beaten to death.
Wu Han said, "Wu Xue Chang, Wei Dong is fighting with someone. I'll go check it out."
"A fight?" Wu Han was surprised, then excitedly asked, "Can I go?"
There was no reason not to, so Chen Chuan nodded and led him into the elevator, directly reaching the 20th floor. As the elevator doors parted, they saw Wei Dong grappling with another robust student.
It was clear that Wei Dong's opponent was skilled in grappling, as he was covered in dust while the other student had a red mark on his face, indicating that he was also a freshman.
A small crowd had gathered around, but no one stepped forward to stop the fight. They were waiting for the two to settle it themselves.
When Chen Chuan appeared, many tensed up and greeted him. They all knew him, and some whispered to their companions, who then looked at Chen Chuan with awe.
Chen Chuan acknowledged the greetings and turned his attention back to the fight, waiting for the two to determine a winner.
Grappling and horizontal strength were not particularly exciting to watch; it was simply a matter of who could endure longer.
However, Chen Chuan didn't favor the other student's chances. Wei Dong had exceptional stamina and recovery abilities, and it would be difficult to take him down quickly.
As Chen Chuan predicted, the student struggled for a while, his face turning red, but he couldn't defeat Wei Dong. Wei Dong, however, couldn't unleash his full strength, and the two remained in a stalemate for about ten minutes until the student began to show signs of fatigue.
Seizing the opportunity, Wei Dong flipped the student over, pinning him to the ground, and raised his fist. The student below cried out, "Don't hit my face!"
Wei Dong ignored him and punched him in the face.
"I said... don't hit my face! You still hit me? Stop... Ouch, don't hit me... Wait, I give up..."
Hearing the surrender, Wei Dong lowered his fist and pulled the grimacing student up from the ground, asking, "Are you okay, classmate?"
The student, with swollen eyes and half his face covered, glared at him angrily.
At that moment, another student hurried over. Chen Chuan recognized him as Fan Cheng, whom he had met in the elevator before. Although it had been a while since their last encounter, people like them had good memories and hadn't forgotten.
Fan Cheng, annoyed, said to the other student, "Fan Shen, I've been waiting for you for ages, and you're here fighting?"
Fan Shen hummed and looked slightly disgruntled.
Chen Chuan said, "Let's go, Wei Dong." As he turned to leave, Fan Cheng noticed him and saw Wei Dong following. Fan Cheng hesitated and asked in a low voice, "How did you guys start fighting?"
Fan Shen didn't even glance at him and headed for the other elevator.
Fan Cheng sighed inwardly, knowing that his cousin was always proud and arrogant. He couldn't imagine how he would be once school started. Fan Cheng said to him, "If you like fighting, go to the arena. I won't stop you."
Fan Shen retorted, "I don't need your permission. Who knows if I'll even go to the arena!"
Fan Cheng was exasperated. The truth in his cousin's words frustrated him. He left with a final comment, "Fine, I won't stop you then." And he stormed off.
As the elevator descended, Chen Chuan asked Wei Dong about the fight. The cause wasn't complicated; Wei Dong had glanced at Fan Shen a few times, making the latter feel uncomfortable. They exchanged glares, and without further words, they stepped out of the elevator and settled their dispute with their fists.
Wu Han fully supported this, saying, "Well done! You shouldn't have backed down. You're here at the Central Academy to learn skills, not to be bullied. But when I told you not to hit his face, you did it anyway."
Wei Dong said, "Guan Xinyin said that the more your opponent stops you from doing something, the more you should do it. As long as he doesn't surrender, I won't listen to him."
Wu Han added, "Guan Xinyin, she's a strong fighter and smart, but her potential doesn't match yours, kid." Then, addressing Chen Chuan, he said, "From the looks of it, that kid seems to know someone in the academy. These people are probably recommended by mutual aid societies. Do you think they'll cause trouble later?"
When dealing with these people, a normal fight was one thing, but it was the underhanded methods they might use that were concerning.
Chen Chuan smiled and said, "No matter their original identities, the differences aren't significant once they're in the Central Academy. Once Wei Dong has someone investing in him, no student will dare to pick a fight with him."
At that moment, Wu Han sighed, "It's so good." He hadn't been able to study here, but today he had experienced the atmosphere of the Central Academy, and it truly impressed him.
After the three of them descended, as it wasn't too late, Chen Chuan suggested they go to Shu Xia Xia Hotel for dinner. The location was ideal, situated at a high altitude in Central City, making it a suitable scenic spot.
The Gaud car sped out of Mystic Palace Tower and into the dazzling, confusing neon lights.
