Chapter 468: Mark of the Dark Forces
Chapter 468: Mark of the Dark Forces
The voices of the Aurors outside permeated the tent, and Charlie finally heaved a sigh of relief. He wiped the sweat from his brow and then lifted his foot, unleashing a flurry of kicks towards Malfoy, who was lying on the ground.
"A rare opportunity..." Charlie turned to Kyle and said, "This guy was the one who laughed the loudest, and he was the first to use the Cruciatus Curse. I've wanted to do this for a long time."
"The Cruciatus Curse?" Kyle frowned. "Then, did you...?"
"Oh, don't worry. Dad was lucky enough to dodge it... twice in a row."
As he spoke, Charlie's anger resurfaced, and he lifted his foot again to deliver another round of kicks to Malfoy.
Malfoy showed signs of waking up, so Charlie quickly stunned him with a well-placed Stunning Spell before continuing his assault.
Kyle also approached, holding a bottle in his hand.
The commotion outside gradually subsided, and the sky no longer flashed like fireworks.
About an hour later, the surroundings became quiet.
Mr. Weasley returned, accompanied by a group of stern-looking Aurors.
As soon as they entered the tent, the Aurors spotted the group of people bound together in the corner.
"Merlin's beard!" One of them exclaimed, recognizing the captives. "These are all members of pure-blood families... Arthur, are you sure you haven't made a mistake?"
"Of course not, Dexter," Mr. Weasley assured him. "I can vouch for it." He pointed to a pile of hoods and masks nearby. "These were taken from them. And we also have Madame Maxime, the headmistress of Beauxbatons Academy, who can testify."
"Maxime?" Dexter was surprised.
He certainly knew who Madame Maxime was—a highly respected figure with considerable influence in France.
But he hadn't expected the involvement of foreign witches and wizards, and certainly not someone as renowned as her.
"These people tried to capture students from Beauxbatons," Mr. Weasley explained. "They seemed to want to use them as leverage to force Maxime to do something."
"Despicable," Dexter scoffed, waving his wand dismissively. He then dragged the captives out of the tent.
"You've done a great job, Arthur."
After they had been taken away, Dexter turned to Mr. Weasley with a smile. "Winning a seven-on-one fight is impressive. I never knew you were so capable... You should consider joining the Aurors."
"You've got it wrong, it's because..." Mr. Weasley began to explain, but then he thought of the illegal Fanged Geraniums, and he quickly closed his mouth. "It wasn't just me; the children helped a lot, too."
"Seven against four, and you still managed to capture them without a scratch?" Dexter said. "I must say, you should really consider joining the Aurors. It would be a much better fit than that cramped office you're in now."
"It really wasn't my doing," Mr. Weasley tried to explain, but no matter how he phrased it, he couldn't avoid mentioning the Fanged Geraniums, and he ended up red-faced and flustered.
"Alright, I understand," Dexter said with a laugh. "It seems you really do like your current job. But we must be off, Arthur. There's still much to be done. See you back at the Ministry."
"Okay," Mr. Weasley nodded helplessly.
After the Aurors left, Mr. Weasley wiped the sweat and dirt from his face with his robe. He looked at Kyle and hesitated before finally speaking. "About those Fanged Geraniums...
"I got them from the school greenhouse."
"Don't worry, Dad," Bill chimed in, patting his chest. "I'll just say that I gave the Fanged Geraniums to Kyle. As a Curse-Breaker, it's reasonable to carry some magical plants for protection, especially in a dangerous place like the pyramid."
"No, let me take the blame," Charlie volunteered.
"Fanged Geraniums are one of the Chinese Fireball Dragon's favorite treats, and I work at the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary. It makes sense for me to have some dragon treats on hand, right?"
"Thanks, but I don't think that's necessary," Kyle said, shaking his head with a smile.
"Wounds caused by Fanged Geraniums aren't difficult to treat. I've already applied a special potion and healing magic to them. By now, their wounds should be almost healed."
"That's good," Mr. Weasley said, "if that's the case, it'll save us a lot of trouble..."
Bill, standing nearby, raised an eyebrow in surprise.
He hadn't paid much attention due to the tension earlier, but now that he thought about it...
The assailant had used the Disguising Spell for a stealth attack and then applied a potion to erase the wounds caused by the Fanged Geraniums... Kyle's handling of the situation had been flawless.
He wondered what exactly Kyle had been learning these past few years at school...
However, Mr. Weasley didn't dwell on it. He looked at Kyle, about to ask about Harry and Ron's whereabouts, when another exclamation of surprise came from outside.
"Oh, for heaven's sake, isn't it over yet?"
Mr. Weasley rushed out of the tent, but the next second, his attention was drawn to a huge, shimmering object in the air.
It was a gigantic skull with a massive serpent protruding from its mouth...
Mr. Weasley's eyes widened in shock. He was all too familiar with what this was, or rather, any wizard of a certain age would know.
"Merlin's beard..." Mr. Weasley exclaimed, "Why is there a Dark Mark here? Weren't the Malfoys all captured?"
He had always believed that Lucius Malfoy was the mastermind behind this riot, but now it seemed that there were others involved, and they were even more brazen than the Malfoys.
In the wizarding world, casting the Dark Mark was no trivial matter, especially after Voldemort's downfall. Anyone caught doing so would face charges nearly as severe as using an Unforgivable Curse.
Bill and Charlie, who were standing nearby, also looked up at the shimmering Dark Mark in the sky.
"Looks like there are still some stragglers," Charlie remarked.
"Dad, should we go take a look?"
Mr. Weasley naturally wanted to go. After all, it had been decades since the last appearance of the Dark Mark, and even he was curious to find out what was going on.
However, before he could make a decision, a loud booming sound reverberated through the camp.
Unbeknownst to them, the restriction on Apparition had been lifted, and almost half of the Aurors and Hit Wizards rushed towards the Dark Mark as soon as they saw it.
There were about fifty of them.
"Never mind..." Mr. Weasley shook his head, "There are already enough people there. We won't be much help if we go."
