Chapter 468: Elimination
Chapter 468: Elimination
The fighter felt as if something had suddenly appeared within his body, wreaking havoc and tearing at him from within.
His face contorted in agony, he braced himself with his sword, releasing the stored vital blood from his heart to desperately heal the damaged parts. But as soon as he did so, the injury worsened, causing even more severe damage.
Knowing he couldn't afford to stay in one place, he mustered all his strength to support his body with the sword and continued to stumble forward. However, after taking only twenty or so steps, he heard slow footsteps approaching from behind.
His body stiffened, and he turned to see Chen Chuan walking towards him. Looking into the distance, he noticed the other person who had fled to the other side lying on the ground, his neck twisted unnaturally to the side, apparently broken.
Realizing there was no escape, he took a deep breath and knelt down, enduring the waves of pain coursing through his body.
Raising his long sword, he wiped it with a piece of cloth and then placed it horizontally across his neck. With a forceful swipe, the blade cut through, and his head rolled off.
His sword remained motionless, perfectly balanced, and his arm maintained the pose of holding the sword, showcasing the exceptional control of a Third Limit Fighter.
Chen Chuan took a glance and, without further attention, swiftly returned to the convoy.
At the front end of the National Highway, the person who had accompanied Jian Chengsheng to this location witnessed the fall of their leader. His expression changed abruptly, and he immediately ran back to the car, where he sat down and spoke to the telegraph operator in front of him, "Send a telegram to the team leader. Inform him that the target couldn't be eliminated, and the mission has failed. I will return to face the consequences."
He quickly lowered the car window and leaned out, looking towards the leader of the combat personnel. "Captain Zhan!" he shouted.
Upon hearing his name, Captain Zhan immediately approached, "Mr. Han Tai, what are your instructions?"
Mr. Han Tai spoke sternly, "Captain Zhan, do you know what to do?"
Captain Zhan replied solemnly, "I understand, Mr. Han Tai. Rest assured, I will lead everyone to cover your retreat and ensure your safe departure."
Mr. Han Tai's expression softened slightly. With two Third Limit Fighters in the open area, the chances of everyone escaping together were slim. However, if someone could stay behind and hold off the fighters, the odds of a successful escape would increase.
He said, "Captain Zhan, the company will remember your sacrifice."
The car window rose, once again blocking Captain Zhan's view.
As the vehicle started and quickly drove away, he returned to his position and shouted to his team, "Everyone, hold this position and don't let anyone pass through the road! There will be someone to take care of our families, and the compensation will be delivered to them personally."
The team members remained silent, dispersing to their positions, all prepared for the worst.
With the implant keys of everyone in his control, deserting in the heat of battle was as good as death. Instead, by fighting to the death, there was a chance their families and relatives would be properly taken care of.
Upon returning to the convoy, Chen Chuan found it in disarray. Three Third Limit Fighters had engaged in a fierce battle, creating a tremendous commotion. The once well-guarded convoy now lay in ruins, with many vehicles deliberately damaged, presumably because the two fighters couldn't immediately subdue Yao Advisor and were unsure which vehicle held Lei Director. Consequently, they continuously destroyed the surrounding vehicles, leaving them overturned or sliced open.
Fortunately, Chen Chuan's Gaud car was parked at a safe distance from the convoy and remained untouched. However, as he prepared to leave, he was ready to switch vehicles.
At that moment, Yao Advisor approached him, saying, "Captain Chen, I'm going to deal with these people up front. Could I trouble you to look after Director Lei?"
Chen Chuan replied, "Yao Advisor, do as you see fit. I'll take care of things here."
After confirming Yao Advisor's intentions, he swiftly mobilized half of the team to charge forward.
Chen Chuan, on the other hand, approached the area where Lei Director was located.
Initially, Lei Director hadn't hidden in the car but had retreated to the wilderness from the start, concealing himself with a Mystic Ritual.
This move was bold, as he was unprotected and would face immediate death if discovered.
However, he wasn't entirely defenseless, as he had previously informed Chen Chuan of his plan through the Interdimensional Link. Chen Chuan knew his approximate location, so if anyone approached, he and Yao Advisor would respond promptly.
This decision proved correct, as Lei Director's distance from the convoy and the concealment provided by the Mystic Ritual ensured he remained undetected throughout.
The two fighters focused entirely on the convoy, even searching for targets among the armed personnel, and thus, they remained unaffected.
Upon seeing Chen Chuan's return, Lei Director didn't remove the concealment from his body or change his position. He knew the remote gunners outside might still be searching for targets, and the danger wouldn't dissipate until they were dealt with. So, he spoke through the Interdimensional Link, "Chen Chuan, everything is normal here."
"Chen Chuan didn't go to find him either, as that would only provide guidance out of thin air. So, he replied, 'Director Lei, please wait a moment. Advisor Yao should be done soon.'"
After Mr. Han Tai left in the car, he drove along the National Highway for a while before the vehicle suddenly rushed out through a gap in the guardrail.
He turned back to look, seeing no one chasing after him, and he couldn't help but heave a sigh of relief. As long as he followed this road, he could go directly to the seaside.
After arriving there, someone would arrange for him to return to the company by sea, and then...
Just as he was thinking about this, the car suddenly lurched forward and stopped.
He frowned and looked at the driver, who then pulled out a gun and fired a shot, blasting the head of the co-pilot.
Mr. Han Tai was shocked and reached for his gun, but before he could fully draw it, the driver's gun was already turned towards him, pointing at his face. "Mr. Han Tai, someone has to take responsibility for this. I hope you can understand."
Mr. Han Tai's face paled, and he forced himself to remain calm. "There's no need to be so hasty. I want to go to the company personally to explain this matter to the team leader and the directors. There's a lot of information that can't be conveyed clearly in a telegram."
"Unfortunately, this matter cannot involve the company."
Before he could say anything else, the driver pulled the trigger, and with a loud bang, Mr. Han Tai's head instantly exploded, spraying implanted tissue fluid, brain matter, and blood all over the car's interior and seats.
The driver quickly opened the door, went to the back, poured out the algae oil from the fuel tank, retreated, and then lit a lighter and threw it inside. He waited for the entire vehicle to burst into flames and burn fiercely before turning and leaving quickly.
At the same time, on the National Highway, intense gunfire erupted again. The combat squad blocking the road was very powerful, but as Advisor Yao rushed in, the originally orderly and disciplined formation immediately fell into chaos.
This was the power of the Third Limit Fighter. Wearing protective gear and charging at extreme speed, they could destroy any setup from the inside, and with external support, the battle's outcome could be declared.
In the 16th book, the 1st chapter, it's a must-read!
However, this group's resistance was exceptionally strong, especially the implanted combat personnel.
Their movements were exceptionally agile, and the protective armor they wore was very durable. In their desperate fight, the offense encountered many obstacles.
Among them, two people stood out - Wu Han and Wei Dong, the spearhead of the assault team.
The battle didn't start with them, but now they charged forward. With their combined efforts, they could often finish off an implanted combat personnel in no time, even when facing the same combat squad, they were not intimidated.
After they eliminated the last implanted combat personnel, they turned back to look, and the intense gunfire in the field had ceased.
From a distance, Advisor Yao observed them, and a trace of appreciation appeared in his eyes. Although they were only Second Limit Fighters, it was evident that they had considerable combat experience. Despite their young age, their potential was visible, and with proper cultivation, they would become very capable assistants.
However, it was a pity. He could tell that these were the people Chen Chuan brought, and he couldn't compete with him for them.
He shook his head and ordered someone to clean up the mess. As he walked back towards the convoy, he glanced at the distance and saw the cloak that Chen Chuan had thrown on the ground. He instructed someone to pick it up.
After returning to the convoy with his men, he gestured for the cloak to be handed back to Chen Chuan and sincerely thanked him. "Team Leader Chen, we owe you for your assistance. Without you, I would have had a hard time completing the escort mission."
Chen Chuan thanked the approaching team member and took the cloak. "Director Lei can be considered my mentor. I did what I should."
At this moment, a telegraph operator ran over, saluted Advisor Yao, and presented the translation. "Advisor, the reinforcements will arrive in ten minutes."
Advisor Yao took it and started reading.
Seeing that everything was under control here, Chen Chuan bid farewell to Director Lei and walked towards the body of Jian Chengsheng.
Before he reached it, Chao Ming circled above and chirped at him, indicating that he wanted to show him something and claim credit.
He smiled and decided to give Chao Ming an extra meal tonight.
As he approached, he bent down and picked up the broken sword. But as soon as he held it in his hand, he felt a peculiar sensation, as if his spirit was subtly invigorated.
This sword...
His first instinct was to look at the hilt, sensing that something might be hidden there. However, now wasn't the right time to examine it; he'd wait until he returned.
