Chapter 467: Pre-Match Training
Chapter 467: Pre-Match Training
Ivan looked at Ron with a strange expression, feeling that Ron always had a peculiar perspective on things.
Harry also started to think seriously, as his Invisibility Cloak had two sides. One side was a silvery-gray, almost like a flowing liquid fabric, and the other side was permanently enchanted with an invisibility spell.
If the enchanted side was facing up, it was indeed possible for it to have been lost that way.
However, after searching the dormitory thoroughly, Harry and Ron found nothing.
Ivan watched them with a look that suggested he thought they were being foolish.
Considering that it was a precious Deathly Hallow, Ivan patiently asked, "Harry, do you remember where you might have dropped it? Think hard about the last time you checked to make sure it was still there."
"Um, it might have been at the Three Broomsticks Inn!" Harry hesitated, thinking it was the most likely place. He had spent a long time there and it was possible it fell out while they were fooling around.
"Then let's go look for it now. It should still be open at this time!" Ivan suggested.
Harry quickly nodded in agreement.
The three of them sneaked out of the castle and made their way through the secret passage back to Hogsmeade. When they saw the bar still brightly lit and in operation, they all breathed a sigh of relief.
Harry eagerly found the spot where they had been sitting, and began to search the area, but unfortunately, he found nothing.
Madam Rosmerta noticed their unusual behavior and approached them, addressing Harry and Ron, who were on the ground searching.
"What are you two doing? Did you lose something?"
Madam Rosmerta immediately guessed their predicament, as it was common for drunk patrons to lose things in the bar and return the next day to look for them. She was used to it.
"Yes, ma'am! I lost an Invisibility Cloak!" Harry was very worried, and he looked at Madam Rosmerta with a glimmer of hope. "Have you seen it?"
Madam Rosmerta was surprised. An Invisibility Cloak was a very valuable magical item, sometimes worth more than a hundred Galleons. It was the most valuable item she had seen a customer lose since opening the bar.
Despite Harry's hopeful gaze, Madam Rosmerta shook her head.
"I'm sorry, dear, I haven't seen your Invisibility Cloak. No one has brought it to me either during this time." She sighed and continued, "But are you sure you lost it here? Could it have been somewhere else? After you left, I cleaned up your table and didn't find anything."
Of course, there was another possibility that Madam Rosmerta didn't mention: that someone else had taken the Invisibility Cloak.
Given its high value, if it had fallen on the seat and been seen, it was likely that someone would have kept it for themselves.
Harry was almost in tears. The Invisibility Cloak was a keepsake from his father and had helped him many times over the years. He couldn't bear to think of losing it.
Madam Rosmerta had no better suggestions and could only advise Harry to notify the Ministry of Magic and have the Aurors help search for it, even though the chances of finding it were slim.
In the end, Harry left the Three Broomsticks Inn in a daze, thinking he might have lost this magical item forever.
"Or, we could try to look in the Ministry of Magic. We’ve only been to these two places today", Ron suddenly said.
"Right, we haven’t checked the Ministry of Magic yet!" Harry perked up, his spirits lifting and hope reigniting.
Ivan quickly stopped Harry and Ron from making a potentially fatal mistake. At this hour, the Ministry of Magic staff would have long since gone home, and breaking into the Ministry of Magic could result in serious consequences.
"Even if we, as young wizards, report this to the Ministry of Magic, they might not take it seriously. It would be better to inform Professor Dumbledore about the lost Invisibility Cloak and let him handle the negotiations with the Ministry of Magic."
Ivan analyzed the situation rationally. The Ministry of Magic wasn’t a place to just walk into; one needed an invitation or to apply first, and who knew how long that would take.
Moreover, Harry’s Invisibility Cloak was unique and special. If the Ministry of Magic found it and decided not to return it, it would be better to have Professor Dumbledore deal with the bureaucracy.
After Ivan finished speaking, Harry hesitated. Due to the argument earlier in the afternoon, he was reluctant to see Professor Dumbledore, especially since the Invisibility Cloak had been given to him by the professor, and now he had lost it.
"Do you think your pride is more important, or the Invisibility Cloak?" Ivan noticed Harry’s dilemma.
"Of course, the Invisibility Cloak!" Harry gritted his teeth and made his decision.
However, considering the late hour, Dumbledore was likely already asleep, so Harry didn’t want to disturb him. Instead, he waited until the next morning after his morning classes to head to the Headmaster’s Office alone.
"How did it go? What did Professor Dumbledore say? Did he scold you?" When Harry emerged from the Headmaster's Office, Ron hurriedly asked.
"No, he didn’t. He just said he would help me find it and told me not to worry too much", Harry looked somewhat dispirited.
Compared to being treated so casually, Harry would have preferred a harsh scolding from Professor Dumbledore, which might have made him feel better.
Ivan, overhearing this, frowned, finding it strange.
Harry’s Invisibility Cloak wasn’t just any cheap item from the market; it was one of the Deathly Hallows!
Something Dumbledore had pursued for most of his life!
Now that Harry had lost it, the old professor didn’t even reprimand him?
Ivan couldn’t understand it. Could it be that Dumbledore had discovered through years of research that the so-called Deathly Hallows were mere legends, and losing one was no big deal?
Unable to figure it out, Ivan decided to let it go. If even Dumbledore couldn’t recover it, then the three young wizards had no chance.
In the afternoon, after finishing their classes, Ivan and Harry went to the Quidditch pitch for the final training session before the official match.
Notably, when Wood saw Ivan at the training ground, his excitement was evident. He patted Ivan on the shoulder, his words of welcome condensed into a single sentence.
"Welcome back, Hals!"
