Chapter 467: Maxime's Slap
Chapter 467: Maxime's Slap
The tide of the battle turned astonishingly fast. In almost an instant, the hooded witches and wizards who had held the upper hand were now lying on the ground, incapacitated.
Whether it was Mr. Weasley, Bill, or Charlie, they all felt as if they were dreaming.
"Did reinforcements arrive?" Charlie asked, turning to look around.
Mr. Weasley remained silent, his eyes fixed on the spot where the last hooded wizard had fallen, his eyebrows knit together in a slight frown.
At that moment, the surrounding air suddenly rippled.
Kyle, having dropped his Disillusionment Charm, waved at them. "Are you all right? Are you hurt?"
"What are you doing here?" Mr. Weasley demanded, his face stern. "This is dangerous. Get back to the woods immediately!"
"Dangerous?"
Kyle glanced at the twisted bodies on the ground. "I think it's fine... I can handle it."
"Did you do this?" Bill asked, incredulous.
"Yeah, I guess I got lucky... They were too careless." Kyle nodded, then reached out to carefully pluck the Biting Nettles off the legs of the unconscious witches and wizards, storing them safely away.
Mr. Weasley was quick, and the captured group hadn't struggled much before being knocked out, so the Biting Nettles were still in good condition, with only a few scratches on the skin.
Nice, they could still be used next time.
As Kyle did this, Mr. Weasley's lips twitched.
While Biting Nettles weren't prohibited for trade like Poison Ivy, they weren't something just anyone could cultivate. A lot of paperwork was required, and one had to register with the Ministry of Magic.
For Kyle to casually throw out seven or eight of them was, strictly speaking, definitely not allowed.
But since there was no one else around, Mr. Weasley quietly turned his face away, pretending he hadn't seen anything.
Bill and Charlie did the same, and the three of them tacitly lowered their heads and began picking up the fallen wands from the ground.
Then, they produced ropes and securely bound the captives.
When he picked up the last wand, the one with the snake-head decoration, Mr. Weasley's eyes widened in recognition.
In his impression, only one person would use such an extravagant wand decoration.
He quickly walked over and lifted the hoods and masks of the captured witches and wizards.
"Yaxley... Crabbe... Lockwood..." Mr. Weasley named each of them.
"...Goyle... and Malfoy!"
Upon seeing the last person, Mr. Weasley couldn't help but laugh out loud, despite the crisis not being completely averted yet.
"Now, let's see how you'll wriggle your way out of this!" he said happily.
He had suspected from the beginning that Lucius Malfoy, the kind of guy who would do all sorts of despicable things, was definitely involved in this group, but he had lacked the evidence.
Now that they had caught him red-handed, he was done for! Mr. Weasley had never been so happy. If it weren't for the inappropriate timing, he would have loved to call a few friends and celebrate with a drink.
"Thud! Thud!"
At that moment, heavy footsteps approached, and a giant figure over three meters tall ran towards them from a distance.
With each step she took, Kyle could feel the ground vibrating slightly.
"Gabrielle... Nova... Casro... Thank goodness, you're all safe!"
"Headmistress Maxime!"
Upon seeing the newcomer, the small witches and wizards, who had been huddled together, shivering in fear, immediately became excited. They ran towards her, crying and speaking rapidly in French, occasionally pointing at Kyle and Mr. Weasley.
Headmistress Maxime approached with them in tow.
"Thank you!" she said sincerely. "I am Olympe Maxime, Headmistress of Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Thank you for saving these children."
"You're welcome, anyone would have done the same.
"No, it was all thanks to Mr. Weasley. I just happened to arrive and helped a little," Kyle said with a smile.
"That's still impressive." There was a hint of anger in Maxime's tone. "Unlike some people, who act so high and mighty usually, but when faced with an unexpected situation, they panic and even lose their own students! I really should have brought Fleur with me. At least she wouldn't have embarrassed Beauxbatons like this."
The more Maxime spoke, the angrier she became. She vented her frustration on the bound captives.
Before anyone could react, she slapped one of them across the face.
The consequences of being slapped by a half-giant were evident.
With a mighty slap, the bound captives were sent flying, crashing into and collapsing a tent, before rolling out further, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
"Oh, Merlin!" Mr. Weasley hurried after them.
"Sorry..." Maxime's expression softened slightly, "...but don't worry, I know my strength. They should still be alive."
Kyle looked at the teeth scattered on the ground and doubted Maxime's reassurance.
However, he didn't dwell on it and casually asked, "Isn't Fleur coming to watch the tournament?"
"She has other matters to attend to... She's preparing for another grand event," Maxime said with a smile. "But you'll be able to see her soon."
Kyle nodded.
Maxime had to hurry to bring the rescued children to safety, so she didn't stay long. After thanking the Weasley family again, she departed.
The chaos around them continued, and Mr. Weasley found an empty tent to toss the bound captives into. He asked Charlie and Kyle to stay and guard them while he went to help further.
There were simply too many rioting wizards, at least two hundred of them, and the Ministry officials were severely outnumbered.
"Wait!" Kyle wanted to stop him, but Mr. Weasley didn't pause and ran out of the tent without looking back.
Charlie wanted to help like Bill, but he was worried about leaving Kyle alone, so he could only anxiously linger by the tent.
However, Kyle seemed much more relaxed. He chased after Mr. Weasley out of the tent but soon stopped.
If Charlie observed carefully, he would notice that while the battle around them was still chaotic, it wasn't as intense as it had been initially. There were far fewer spells being cast, and the battlefield was becoming more dispersed.
It seemed that without their leaders, the once somewhat organized group had fallen into disarray.
And who were their leaders?
Kyle glanced at the bound captives in the tent. The answer was obvious.
More importantly, the Ministry's reinforcements had arrived.
In the distance, a large number of Hit Wizards and Aurors had rushed into the campsite from all directions. Leading them was none other than the Head of the Auror Office, Scrimgeour, who looked like an angry lion as he brandished his wand even from a distance.
The Aurors and Hit Wizards behind him followed suit, casting Stunning Spells and Disarming Charms in rapid succession at the rioters who were still resisting.
