Chapter 466: Otohime and Shirahoshi
Chapter 466: Otohime and Shirahoshi
"It truly is a breathtaking place."
Robin murmured in awe as she gazed upon the ethereal beauty of Fishman Island, a sight that rivaled the majesty of Skypiea.
Feng Ye swept his gaze across the island, a hint of regret in his eyes as he said, "It's a shame that the Mermaid Princess of Fishman Island is only nine years old this year. Our arrival here means we won't have the pleasure of witnessing her famed beauty."
Hearing Feng Ye's words, Boa Hancock pouted slightly and asked, "Could the beauty of a mermaid princess possibly compare to mine?"
When it came to beauty, she was absolutely confident that no one in this world could surpass her.
"No one could surpass you," Feng Ye chuckled softly, his eyes gentle as he caressed her cheek lightly.
While the grown-up Mermaid Princess, Shirahoshi, was said to possess unique beauty among non-human beings, even she couldn't match the allure of Boa Hancock.
With the power of the Love-Love Fruit, Hancock's charm was unparalleled in this world, and there was no disputing that fact.
Perhaps if the power of the Love-Love Fruit were transferred to Shirahoshi, there might be a chance for a shift in this dynamic.
"However, the Mermaid Princess does have some unique attributes... if I recall correctly, this generation's Mermaid Princess should be one of the Ancient Weapons, the Sea God Poseidon, right?"
Robin looked at Feng Ye, her brows furrowed in thought as she spoke.
"Mhm." Feng Ye nodded, "Let's go in."
...
Moments later, at the top of Fishman Island, within the grand Ryugu Palace.
The king of Fishman Island, Neptune, emerged from the palace to greet Feng Ye and his companions, who were escorted by the palace guard. "I never expected Mr. Feng Ye to grace us with his presence here. Please forgive us for not welcoming you sooner..."
Neptune's expression was tinged with a hint of nervousness.
Even though Fishman Island was located deep under the sea, they were surprisingly well-informed about world events. Neptune was keenly aware of Feng Ye's fearsome reputation.
A single word from Whitebeard, accompanied by the raising of his flag, had been enough to ensure that no one dared to offend Fishman Island again. And there was no doubt that Feng Ye stood at the pinnacle of the seas, just like Whitebeard.
In fact...
Feng Ye's fearsome reputation even surpassed that of Whitebeard.
The destruction of the sacred city of Mariejois and the slaughter of countless World Nobles were testament to his power.
Located directly below the Red Line's Shandora, Fishman Island was all too familiar with the terror that the World Nobles could inflict. Even Whitebeard was reluctant to provoke them, as doing so would be tantamount to declaring war on the World Government and inviting endless attacks.
But Feng Ye was an existence that struck fear into the hearts of the World Nobles themselves!
"Please, there's no need for such formality," Feng Ye said with a gracious smile. "I merely happened to be traveling in this direction, and upon hearing of the extraordinary beauty of Fishman Island, I decided to make a special trip to admire it for myself."
Neptune breathed a silent sigh of relief upon hearing that Feng Ye was merely there to appreciate the island's scenery. A smile spread across his face as he replied, "It is our honor to receive your praise. Please, feel free to explore and enjoy the sights of our island."
Feng Ye was known as the Traveler, and his love for exploration was indeed well-documented.
However, Neptune did not let down his guard completely. He understood that it was crucial to ensure Feng Ye's enjoyment during his stay, as any displeasure on his part could spell disaster for Fishman Island.
Queen Otohime, who had accompanied Neptune, stepped forward and introduced herself politely, "My name is Otohime. You may not be familiar with Fishman Island, so I would be delighted to act as your guide and show you the wonders of our island."
Feng Ye smiled in response, graciously accepting her offer without hesitation, "In that case, I'll have to trouble you."
In the original storyline, Otohime would have already been assassinated by this point, but Feng Ye was unsurprised to find her alive.
After all, he had drastically altered the course of this world, especially the events surrounding Fishman Island, by destroying Mariejois and eliminating the World Nobles.
Without the presence of the World Nobles on Fishman Island, the events of Otohime collecting signatures for peaceful coexistence with humans, Shirahoshi revealing her power as the Ancient Weapon Sea God, being targeted by Vander Decken IX, and being confined in Hard-Shell Tower, would never have transpired.
Queen Otohime bowed slightly and smiled, "Please follow me, and I will give you a tour of Ryugu Palace before the banquet."
As Otohime led Feng Ye towards the gardens of Ryugu Palace, Neptune heaved a sigh of relief, finally relaxing completely. He was well aware of Otohime's capabilities and trusted that she would be able to entertain Feng Ye appropriately.
"Prepare the banquet and make sure it's the most extravagant spread!" Neptune ordered one of his attendants nearby.
"Yes!"
The attendant immediately acknowledged the command and hurried off to relay the message.
...
The gardens of Ryugu Palace were vast, resembling an underwater forest.
Beautiful coral reefs could be found almost everywhere, adorned with intricate seashells and sea snails.
"It's indeed the same as the scenery in my dreams... By the way, do you have the historical Poneglyph here?" Robin asked Otohime as she walked, her curiosity piqued.
She was more interested in the history of this place, even though she already knew about the blank century. Nonetheless, each historical Poneglyph contained valuable information, chronicling the history of the country it was located in, dating back eight hundred years.
Otohime turned to Robin and replied, "Yes, we do, but it's in the Sea Forest. Do you want to go there now?"
Robin glanced at Feng Ye, who was admiring the nearby scenery, and said, "Let's stay here today and go there tomorrow."
"Mmm... The Sea Forest is indeed a scenic spot as well." Otohime smiled and nodded.
As they walked and chatted, it became evident that Otohime had a gentle personality, and she quickly hit it off with Robin.
As they continued on their way, a figure suddenly appeared in the garden ahead of them, approaching their group.
It was a cute-looking mermaid, who appeared young in age but was actually several times taller than Feng Ye.
It was the nine-year-old Mermaid Princess, Shirahoshi.
"Mother!" Shirahoshi exclaimed delightedly upon seeing Otohime in the garden, but her attention soon turned to Feng Ye and his companions.
Without having been confined to Hard-Shell Tower and given that Feng Ye was with Otohime, Shirahoshi did not exhibit any signs of fear. Instead, she regarded them with curiosity.
"Mother, who are they...?" Shirahoshi asked.
"Mind your manners, Shirahoshi," Otohime gently chastised her daughter. "This is Mr. Feng Ye." She then turned to Feng Ye and introduced Shirahoshi. "This is my daughter, Shirahoshi. Please excuse her if she seems impolite."
Shirahoshi, having been scolded by Otohime, immediately assumed a timid and fragile demeanor, eyeing Feng Ye cautiously as she said, "Mr... Feng Ye."
"Please, don't be so formal," Feng Ye said with a casual smile.
Feng Ye, possessing the Six Paths Sage Mode, exuded a natural aura when he wasn't intentionally releasing his power, making him seem at one with nature.
To Shirahoshi, who was the ancient weapon Poseidon, Feng Ye's presence naturally felt gentle and familiar, so she didn't feel overly nervous. Instead, she blinked her large, adorable eyes, observing Feng Ye with curiosity.
"Indeed, I can't compare to her in terms of size," Hancock said, looking up at Shirahoshi thoughtfully. She had not expected the Mermaid Princess to be so tall.
With this realization, she didn't feel as concerned about the beauty of the Mermaid Princess that Feng Ye had mentioned earlier. Given Shirahoshi's non-human form and considerable size, there didn't seem to be a need for comparison, especially since Shirahoshi appeared to be younger than ten years old. Hancock found her earlier thoughts on the matter somewhat amusing.
