Chapter 464: Are Wizards' Entertainment Lives Too Limited?
Chapter 464: Are Wizards' Entertainment Lives Too Limited?
Ivan was thinking about this when, on the other side, Harry, who was chatting with Sirius about daily life, suddenly asked.
"Sirius, there’s the final Quidditch match in three days. Will you come to watch it?"
"Of course! I’m really looking forward to seeing you win the Quidditch Cup, just like your father did!" Sirius nodded firmly.
"My father?" Harry asked curiously. He had seen James Potter’s trophy in the trophy room before, but he didn’t know much about it.
"He was the best Quidditch player I’ve ever seen. If it weren’t for us being busy dealing with those Death Eaters after graduation, he might have become a professional player!"
Sirius laughed, teasingly, and then looked at Harry.
"But I think you’ll surpass him! I watched the last match from nearby, and you flew really well!"
"But I fell from the sky!" Harry seemed a bit embarrassed when he mentioned that day.
"That was because the Dementors were causing trouble, right? You’ve already overcome them! This time, just ride the Firebolt I gave you and win the championship back!" Sirius patted Harry’s shoulder, encouraging him.
Thinking about his new broom, Harry felt a bit more confident and nodded solemnly.
Then, Harry seemed to remember something and turned to Ivan, asking, "By the way, Ivan, what do you think? Are you going to participate in this year’s Quidditch match? Wood and the others have been waiting for your reply!"
"Is Ivan also a Quidditch player for Gryffindor?" Sirius was very curious.
Although he had given Ivan a Firebolt before, it was just a side thought, as he hadn’t seen Ivan on the Quidditch field last time.
"Yes, he played with us last year!" Harry nodded before Ivan could reply.
Talking about Quidditch, Harry became very excited and began to enthusiastically tell Sirius about how they had dominated the other houses in the previous school year, mentioning Ivan’s incredible flying and scoring skills.
When Sirius heard that Ivan had scored twenty-five goals in one match, breaking the single-match record at Hogwarts, he was almost incredulous.
"Our Quidditch captain, Wood, thinks Ivan could play for the national team!" Harry said.
"From the sound of it, I was right to give you the Firebolt!" Sirius didn’t think Harry had any reason to lie, which meant Ivan must be incredibly talented.
"My flying skills aren’t as exaggerated as Harry says. I’m just a bit better than the average person!" Ivan waved his hand, not paying much attention to Harry’s praise.
He knew his own abilities. His flying talent was actually quite poor. When he first took the flying class in his first year, he had to kick the broom to get it into his hand.
His impressive performance on the Quidditch field in his second year was due to using a cheat.
However, now that his magic control had improved significantly and he had gained practical experience on the field last year, Ivan felt that even without cheating, he could still dominate the game.
Considering that Sirius Black had given him a Firebolt which he had never used, Ivan hesitated for a moment but ultimately agreed to Harry's request to participate in the Quidditch Match.
For some reason, Ivan thought of Luna, the little witch who had specially picked materials from the Forbidden Forest to make a handmade banner to cheer for him during the match!
Since she considered him her only friend and had gone to such lengths to make the banner, he couldn't let her down, could he?
"Great! I bet Wood will be thrilled! And Malfoy, he'll be stunned when he sees you during the match!"
Ivan's enthusiastic agreement genuinely surprised Harry, who was then filled with delight. He felt that with Ivan on the team, winning the Quidditch championship was a sure thing.
Seeing Harry's excited expression, Ivan shook his head inwardly. He really couldn't understand why a sport involving flying and playing with a ball was so popular among so many people.
Could it be because wizards' entertainment options were so limited?
Ivan thought it was quite possible. In the early days after he had come to this world, he found it very hard to adapt to the magical world without mobile phones and the internet.
If he hadn't been so young and eager to learn all sorts of magical spells, he would have left long ago to earn money as a Muggle!
Ivan kept complaining in his mind, but his mouth didn't stop either. After finishing the candies on the table with everyone else, the night had grown dark.
Harry was still in high spirits, as if he had endless stories to tell, wanting to recount every memorable event from his childhood to Sirius Black!
However, when he started to fantasize about leaving the Dursleys and living with Sirius Black, he was interrupted by Dumbledore.
"Harry! You mentioned that you plan to bid farewell to the Dursleys this summer and move into Sirius Black's house?" Dumbledore's expression became very serious.
"Yes! Sirius Black and I have already discussed it", Harry nodded, still lost in his fantasies and not realizing the severity of the situation.
"That won't do, and I do not recommend it!" Dumbledore shook his head.
"Why?" Harry looked bewildered and asked, puzzled.
Sirius Black also looked at Dumbledore with a hint of confusion.
Dumbledore explained slowly.
"Do you remember what I told you before, Harry?
Thirteen years ago, on that fateful night, your mother used an ancient and powerful spell to protect you from harm, turning her love into a protective magic that was embedded in your skin, safeguarding you until you come of age!"
"Yes, you told me that because of this, Professor Quirrell suffered great harm when he touched my hand two years ago", Harry nodded hesitantly, of course he remembered that.
"Exactly! But there's one thing I didn't tell you!" Dumbledore's eyes behind his half-moon glasses fixed on him, making Harry feel somewhat uneasy. After a pause, Dumbledore continued.
"For this magic to remain effective, a condition must be met: you must stay with someone who has a blood relation to you. That's why I sent you, as a baby, to the Dursleys, because they were your only living relatives!"
