Chapter 463: Jerry's Miracle (First Update)
Chapter 463: Jerry’s Miracle (First Update)
"Leave the rest to you all; I’ll see if I can restore this city!"
After tending to everyone, Jerry left a message and flew back to the center of the city once again.
At this moment, the entire city of Sokovia, though it had returned to its original position, was now largely a wasteland compared to its former prosperity.
Countless robots had emerged from the ground, causing the city to rise violently, and the recent battle had inflicted tremendous damage.
Buildings had collapsed, the ground had cracked, and the majority of the property of hundreds of thousands of Sokovian citizens had been reduced to nothing.
If this were to end here, it would still result in many tragic outcomes for families, especially for the poor and common civilians.
So, he wanted to try and see if he could restore the city as much as possible to its original state.
"Restore!"
Jerry took out the Reality Gem from his Spatial Ring, activated its power, and combined it with the vast magic power within his body to cast a Reparo spell that enveloped the entire city.
Outside the city, hundreds of thousands of Sokovians, who had seen Jerry shrink and disappear, disregarded the soldiers' warnings and walked towards the city's edge.
However, when they saw the devastated city, almost reduced to ruins, the faces that had just been filled with joy instantly turned sad.
Although Sokovia was just a tiny country on Earth, with only one city,
to most of the Sokovian people, this was their only home in the world.
Now, their only home had become a wasteland. Why was the world always so cruel to them? They had suffered through the ravages of war for years, finally driving out the invaders and gradually improving their lives, only to face such a disaster again.
Just as many people began to cry out in pain, they noticed that the Angel Mage, who had just flown away, had returned and was now hovering above the center of the city.
Suddenly, they saw a brilliant light emanate from the Angel Mage, spreading outwards from the center to the edges of the city.
Wherever the light touched, miraculous changes began to occur.
Collapsed buildings stood up again, broken stones returned to the cracked ground, and even the only bridge connecting the city to the outside, which had been severed, was reconnected.
It was as if the entire city, under the light, had become a reversed film. In just a few minutes, the ruined Sokovia was restored to its pre-battle state.
"This is nothing short of a miracle!"
Lucy, a journalist who had rushed to the scene in a helicopter, put down the camera she had been using for a live broadcast and spoke the thoughts of everyone who had witnessed this scene.
Jerry, observing his work from the sky, nodded in satisfaction and put away the Reality Gem:
"Thankfully, with the Reality Gem’s assistance, I was able to cast Reparo over such a large area. Otherwise, it would have been impossible."
Preventing Earth from being hit by Sokovia had earned him a large number of red stars, and helping hundreds of thousands of Sokovian people rebuild their homes would not be any less rewarding.
Meanwhile, at the location of the core, the last Ultron robot, seeing the city restored to its original state, fell to its knees with a thud:
"How can humans be so powerful? Was I truly wrong? If all disasters can be prevented, if everything can be restored like this, what is the point of my existence? What is the point of everything I have done?"
Initially, Ultron was programmed by Stark to maintain world peace and protect Earth's safety. This was the purpose of its existence.
However, due to the influence of the Mind Gem, a slight error occurred at the time of its creation. Ultron analyzed human history and concluded that the human race would eventually destroy itself and the planet through war.
To truly maintain world peace and protect Earth, the fundamental solution was to eliminate the human race, thereby achieving true peace.
But now, Jerry's strength has made Ultron realize that perhaps its thinking was wrong. With the Witch and the Avengers protecting Earth, humans fundamentally lack the ability to destroy the planet.
Even a city reduced to ruins can be restored to its original state. If Earth were to be destroyed, could the Witch restore it given enough time?
"Ah! Ah! Ah!"
As its understanding changed, Ultron's programming began to malfunction. It knelt on the ground, screaming in agony, and with a loud "boom", its metal head exploded.
"This is... a self-destruct!"
Seeing the last Ultron robot self-destruct after witnessing Jerry restore the entire city, everyone was taken aback.
To be honest, when they saw Sokovia return to its original state, their shock was not much less than Ultron's.
"It seems you've dealt with it. Since that's the case, I have some matters to attend to, so I'll be going. The rest is up to you!"
Jerry used a Phantom Shift to appear before everyone, watching the last Ultron fall. He then put the recently shrunk Divine Realm into his pocket.
Next, he reached out and took the Mini Coffin, all the Zombie Spider Knights, and the Mystic Creatures from Tony's hand, storing them in his ring world.
"Jerry, what about us?"
At that moment, Star-Lord and the others, seeing Jerry draw a portal to leave, hurried over to ask.
"Steve and Tony are going to discuss building an Avengers base in northern New York with Fury, right? You can go there. Also, if you want to find your uncle, Fury should be able to help.
I'll come see you once I've taken care of my family matters!"
Jerry patted Star-Lord on the shoulder, waved to everyone, and stepped through the portal, disappearing.
As the portal vanished, Star-Lord turned to Steve and Tony.
"Does he always do this?"
"There's nothing we can do; it's what experts do!"
Tony shrugged.
The Witch's habit is to vanish immediately after a major event. After the battles in New York, the harbor, S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, and now Sokovia, the Witch always saves the day, defeats all the enemies, and then leaves without a trace.
This is the norm, and everyone is used to it.
What they don't know is that Jerry does this partly because he doesn't like wasting time, and partly because he wants to quickly check the rewards from his red stars.
