Chapter 461: Marry My Daughter
Chapter 461: Marry My Daughter
The giant officer figure in a pink dress wielded a Long Blade, glaring furiously at the sky-born assailant amidst swirling debris.
This was Kuro’s first encounter with Big Mom. Standing nearly nine meters tall, her massive frame overflowed from a pink gown, her matching rosy hair wrapped in a headscarf. The captain’s hat she’d once worn had transformed into the Long Blade now clenched in her fist.
She was both imposing and terrifyingly powerful.
“Kuro! You little brat, you destroyed my Cake Island!”
The shattered island had reduced her domain to chaos. Charlotte Big Mom pointed her Long Blade at Kuro, her voice thunderous.
“You have the nerve to say that?”
Kuro gritted his teeth. “You sent assassins after me—so I can’t come settle scores?”
“Huh?”
Big Mom blinked, then suddenly laughed. “Mmmahaha! So that’s it! You came here to get revenge?”
“Obviously!”
Kuro slammed his palm. The sky darkened again as a storm of weapons rained down, forming an iron curtain aimed straight at Charlotte Big Mom.
Below, in the palace ruins, Katakuri held Flampe, his expression shifting to shock as he watched the onslaught.
“Brother Katakuri, it’s so scary!”
Flampe buried herself into Katakuri’s chest, her exposed cheek forming an exaggerated grin, like a lovesick fool.
“That’s Lucius Kro? The one who defeated Lucius’ Navy?”
Katakuri furrowed his brow, but quickly relaxed. “Don’t worry, Flampe. Mother will handle it.”
“Napoleon!”
Seeing the iron curtain descending, Charlotte Big Mom tightened her grip on the Long Blade. “Stretch a bit longer.”
“Yes, Mother!”
The blade visibly elongated. The woman gripped it with both hands, swinging it upward in a mighty arc toward Kuro.
“Viguo!!”
A monstrous shockwave erupted, racing toward Kuro. The iron curtain? She didn’t even glance at it.
“Slash Wave!!”
The instant the shockwave formed, Kuro drew Autumn Water, encasing its blade in black mist. He slashed downward, releasing a black-gold Haki-infused arc that collided with the ‘Viguo’.
Boom!!!
A massive shockwave exploded midair, rippling outward.
Kuro twisted sideways as residual blasts tore past him.
“Tch, just a hair short?”
The Slash Wave’s power still lagged behind Viguo.
No surprise—this was the Giants’ signature technique, after all.
As Kuro evaded the remaining shockwave, his aerial assault pressed on toward Big Mom.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Yet against her massive, fleshy frame, even the sharpest weapons bounced harmlessly on contact. Ordinary attacks? Useless.
“Mmmahaha! Pointless!” Big Mom laughed.
“Steel Balloon!”
Gritting his teeth, Kuro raised his hand. The attacking weapons halted midair, joining scattered blades from the ground in rising upward.
He sheathed his sword, head bowed, gripping the hilt coldly. “Then try this!”
“Lion!!”
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
A flurry of chaotic black-gold slashes erupted from Kuro’s blade, scattering toward Big Mom.
The onslaught made her expression shift. Gripping her blade with both hands, she coated it in Armored Haki, then swung with a mighty strike that shattered the countless black-gold slashes like glass.
“Shanks?”
Big Mom eyed Kuro. “Mmmahaha! Did you meet that guy? Oh right—you have the Float-Float Fruit’s power. Did you kill him and take his Devil Fruit?”
“Shanks?”
Katakuri froze, turning sharply toward Kuro.
Shanks—the legendary pirate’s name.
A former crewmate of Mother’s.
Had this Navy officer really defeated him?
Not just Devil Fruit power, but a pirate lord’s techniques. This man had the strength to kill Shanks back then?
Why hadn’t his name surfaced until now?
Was the Navy hiding something?
And now this man’s arrival—was it really just over an assassination?
“Perospero underestimated him,” Katakuri muttered. “This man’s too strong. Even I couldn’t match him. With Mother here, this island…”
Weaklings’ fights were one thing, but battles between powerhouses reshaped landscapes.
Even himself—once he got serious, terrain destruction was trivial.
Let alone someone at Mother’s level.
If they kept fighting here, Cake Island would be doomed.
Mother couldn’t protect the island forever. That Navy’s sky-splitting assault alone meant the island would eventually crumble given any opening.
And that level of power…
Katakuri couldn’t stop it.
Only someone like Mother, wielding the Giants’ ultimate technique—Viguo—could obliterate an entire island.
“This is getting complicated,” Katakuri muttered, sweat trailing his brow.
“Old hag, just realizing that now?”
Kuro clicked his tongue, pointing his Black Blade at Big Mom. “You tried to assassinate me. You’re not walking away without explaining yourself.”
He wouldn’t recklessly unleash his full arsenal like Katakuri feared.
Destroying Cake Island served no purpose.
Though rage burned, he still had his wits.
He remembered—this old hag could fly.
That cloud and sun hadn’t even appeared yet.
Unlike that skull-faced fool with his Soul-Slicing Devil Fruit power, Kuro couldn’t afford to go all-out.
Reducing Cake Island to rubble would escalate this into full-scale war.
But teaching this madwoman a lesson? Making her think twice before scheming against him again?
That, he could do.
After all, people in this world respected strength.
“Mmmahaha! You think I’m scared?”
Big Mom cackled, her gaze turning appreciative once she confirmed his Float-Float Fruit power.
“So you inherited everything from Shanks, huh? Why become a Navy instead of a pirate? Such a shame! I like you! Join me! Marry my daughter—how about Flampe?”
She pointed at Flampe clinging to Katakuri. “Same age, perfect match! Just switch sides, and she’s yours.”
“What the hell is wrong with you people?”
Kuro’s brow twitched, a single black line forming on his forehead. “Kaido, that mad dragon, wanted to marry off his daughter to me too? Now you’re both trying to recruit me as a pirate? Count me out.”
Wait—Kaido never actually said that?
Forget it!
I’ll just assume he did!
