Chapter 460: North Ming of Cang
Chapter 460: North Ming of Cang
Over the next few days, Ji Xinghuo and his companion barely rested as they continued their journey eastward, deeper into the Sea Abyss.
Whenever the Ice Soul Dragon grew tired, it would surface, allowing them to rest upon its back before continuing on their way.
This alternating method of travel greatly increased their efficiency.
Along the way, the pair encountered several monster attacks, the frequency of which gradually increased. None, however, were as dangerous as the Cicada Wing Snapper. With two dragons by their side, the monsters were easily dealt with, earning Ji Xinghuo several tens of thousands of spiritual source energy.
His spiritual source energy once again surpassed 500,000 points, but Ji Xinghuo did not use it immediately.
Firstly, Cang Ya was right beside him, and it wouldn't be convenient to upgrade at the moment.
Secondly, Ji Xinghuo had confirmed that the Sea Abyss was an excellent hunting ground. He planned to continue exploring it after parting ways with Cang Ya, believing that he could acquire a large amount of spiritual source energy, amassing over 2 million, or even more, before deciding how to allocate it.
Rumbling...
A thunderous sound echoed from the distant horizon.
Despite it being noon, the sea was shrouded in darkness, as if an invisible force were pressing down upon them.
Ji Xinghuo sat atop the Ice Soul Dragon, gazing intently into the distance. The dark sea stretched endlessly before him, devoid of wind, islands, or even sunlight. It seemed to extend to the very edge of the world.
According to his electromagnetic induction, the sea within a 200-kilometer radius was all the same.
The depth of the seabed averaged over 20,000 meters.
Contrary to the lifeless surface, the depths teemed with activity. Enormous schools of fish swam by, along with various unfamiliar sea beasts that would suddenly appear from spatial rifts, only to vanish just as quickly. The seemingly calm sea hid untold dangers.
The space grew increasingly unstable.
Ji Xinghuo's electromagnetic induction often picked up blank areas, some due to unknown interference, while others were simply voids, or perhaps abyssal trenches that plunged to unfathomable depths beyond his sensing range.
Having ventured over 120,000 kilometers into the Sea Abyss, uncertainty and the unknown lurked everywhere.
Ji Xinghuo became more cautious.
Fortunately, with Cang Ya's guidance, they avoided many potential troubles, and she continued to impart her knowledge and experience as a Sea Abyss hunter.
After another full day of flying, they had traveled nearly 140,000 kilometers into the Sea Abyss.
"Someone's here," Ji Xinghuo suddenly said.
Following Ji Xinghuo's gaze, Cang Ya saw nothing unusual. It wasn't uncommon to encounter other Sea Abyss hunters, and with so many of them, it was inevitable that they would run into each other from time to time. However, each time, Ji Xinghuo had detected their presence in advance and steered them clear.
This time, however, there was a strange expression on Ji Xinghuo's face.
"What is it?" Cang Ya asked.
Ji Xinghuo pointed to the left, "There's another Dragon Master over there, a sixth-stage one, and like you, he has two dragons. If I'm not mistaken, one is a Storm Dragon and the other is a Whale Dragon. I detected him several star breaths ago, and we're heading in the same direction."
"That should be Qing Qin," Cang Ya said immediately, "There aren't many people in the Bipo Dragon Domain who match your description, and I just so happen to know one of them."
Her face bore a strange expression.
Before Ji Xinghuo could ask, Cang Ya continued, "Qing Qin is a core member of the Chaoge Clan's Whale Dragon family."
The same Whale Dragon family that had mastered the Magnetic Pole Incision technique.
Ji Xinghuo, however, was unfazed, "His background doesn't matter. What's important is, why is he here, and why is he heading in the same direction as us?"
"I'm not the only one who knows about this Cloud Sea Dragon," Cang Ya said, unsurprised, "That's why we need to hurry."
Ji Xinghuo nodded.
A moment later.
The other Dragon Master seemed to have sensed their presence as well, for he quickly increased the distance between them, moving beyond the range of electromagnetic induction.
Cang Ya introduced, "Qing Qin has been a sixth-stage Dragon Master for many years, possessing the strength of the sixth-stage third-level, nearing the peak. He also walks the path of the Dragon Tamer, and if he finds the Cloud Sea Dragon before I do, we'll have no choice but to fight."
Everyone wanted the Cloud Sea Dragon, and no one would back down.
Cang Ya wouldn't even reveal the news to the Dragon Masters of her own family, let alone those from other families. In the end, it would all come down to strength.
Ji Xinghuo had known that a battle was inevitable.
"You have quite a few competitors," Ji Xinghuo said a few hours later as he detected yet another Dragon Master, this time with a Cang Dragon.
After a moment of discernment, Cang Ya shook her head, "He's not a Dragon Master of our Xingya Clan, probably from another Cang Dragon family."
There were dozens of Cang Dragon families in the True Dragon Empire.
The most powerful, of course, was the Xingya Clan, which had given birth to the Dragon Emperor. The other Cang Dragon families fell just short in comparison, and most of them were in the Bipo Dragon Domain, following the Dragon Emperor's orders, but they were free to do as they pleased in the Sea Abyss.
As they drew closer to their destination, the Sea Abyss became increasingly dangerous.
At the same time, Ji Xinghuo detected the presence of other Dragon Masters more frequently, encountering over a dozen in total. The vast majority were Water-type Dragon Masters, possessing sixth-stage strength, and were renowned figures in the Bipo Dragon Domain.
A fierce battle was imminent.
Ji Xinghuo, however, was not overly concerned, but Cang Ya began to feel anxious. "If the opponent is too strong, prioritize your safety. I won't force you to get the Cloud Sea Dragon," she said earnestly.
"Do our best and let fate decide," Ji Xinghuo replied calmly.
His voice was soft, but his words carried a great deal of weight, instilling Cang Ya with infinite confidence.
It was daytime when they reached their destination, and the sky was clear.
Ji Xinghuo scanned the sparkling ocean surface, the seabed, and the sky within the range of his electromagnetic induction, leaving no inch of space unchecked.
He discovered tens of thousands of spatial rifts, blank areas, and voids everywhere, with the dark undertones of the azure sky and even the white clouds above appearing as if filled with lead. The air pressure was extremely low, and the sea was uncharacteristically calm, creating an oppressive atmosphere.
"Is this the place?"
Cang Ya opened her map to pinpoint their location once more and nodded. "Yes. I found the Cloud Sea Dragon in this area the last time, and the error shouldn't exceed 30 dragon distances."
She circled an area on the map, approximately 40 million square kilometers in size.
Such a vast area would make finding the Cloud Sea Dragon, which was over a hundred meters long, extremely challenging, even though it was a living creature with many distinctive features. It would depend on luck as much as skill.
"Then let's begin." Ji Xinghuo didn't hesitate.
With this location as their center, they rode on the Ice Soul Dragon, searching in expanding circles.
Ji Xinghuo primarily relied on his electromagnetic induction.
However, he did not reveal the true extent of his range, only expanding it by about 100 kilometers at a time. Even so, Cang Ya was astonished and delighted—astonished by the vast range of Ji Xinghuo's search and delighted that it would greatly increase their efficiency in finding the Cloud Sea Dragon.
After two days of continuous searching, they had found nothing.
The number of creatures in this area of the sea was extremely scarce, and even the elusive sea beasts that roamed the Sea Abyss were nowhere to be seen.
This was clearly abnormal.
While they had encountered many other Dragon Masters, they always kept their distance from each other with an unspoken mutual understanding.
On the third day, however, one Dragon Master suddenly approached, quickly closing the distance between them.
After hearing Ji Xinghuo's description, Cang Ya instructed the Ice Soul Dragon to wait at their current location.
Soon, a surge of dark currents emerged from beneath the sea, from which a colossal Cang Dragon appeared. It was even larger than Cang Ya's Water Spirit, with a length of nearly 200 meters, and its aura was overwhelming like a tidal wave. It had evolved and transformed into a Fallen Star-level beast!
A towering column of water hundreds of meters high erupted from the back of the Fallen Star-level Cang Dragon, and standing atop it was a handsome man.
"Cang Ya."
The man called out coldly, his gaze sweeping over to Cang Ya's companion, Ji Xinghuo, without a hint of emotion in his eyes.
"Cang Beiming." Cang Ya nodded. "When did you arrive?"
"Five days ago."
Cang Beiming's face was filled with displeasure as he questioned her, "I heard from someone in this area yesterday that you received news about the Cloud Sea Dragon last month and even fought it. Why didn't you inform the family?"
He and Cang Ya were both core members of the Xingya Clan of the Cang Dragon family, and they knew each other well, both as friends and competitors.
"I wanted to try taming the Cloud Sea Dragon myself," Cang Ya replied calmly.
"With just you?"
Cang Beiming snorted.
His gaze fell on Ji Xinghuo once more. Ji Xinghuo's true strength was masked by the Deception Mask, and he appeared to be an ordinary Legendary First True Dragon Man with nothing remarkable about him.
"Is he the foreign helper you found?" Cang Beiming asked.
"Yes."
Hearing Cang Ya's response, Cang Beiming shook his head disappointedly. "It seems I was too hasty this time. If you had told me the news, we could have joined forces to capture the Cloud Sea Dragon, and you might have had a chance."
"Would you have let me have the Cloud Sea Dragon?" Cang Ya countered sarcastically.
Cang Beiming replied matter-of-factly, "It's still better than letting someone from another family get their hands on it. If I were to tame the Cloud Sea Dragon, I would definitely compensate you adequately."
"Why shouldn't I be the one to get the Cloud Sea Dragon and compensate you instead?" Cang Ya retorted.
"Because I'm stronger than you." Cang Beiming replied arrogantly.
Without another word, he descended the water column and merged with the Cang Dragon, turning into dark currents that quickly disappeared into the distance.
Ji Xinghuo watched their departure and asked, "Are all the members of your Cang Dragon family so arrogant?"
"Of course not."
Cang Ya explained helplessly, "Cang Beiming is one of the most exceptional geniuses of our family's younger generation. He's one of the representatives of the Xingya Clan of the Cang Dragon family, and he has the strength and confidence to look down on anyone."
"He is indeed very strong." Ji Xinghuo nodded in agreement.
During their conversation, he had secretly observed Cang Beiming and found him to be at the peak of the sixth stage, with star power as profound as the ocean and unfathomable depths.
Cang Beiming's strength even made Ji Xinghuo feel a sense of danger, causing his Myriad Star Eyes to stir with a subtle alertness.
He might be the strongest sixth-stage peak warrior Ji Xinghuo had encountered in the Star Realm thus far.
If they were on Earth, Cang Beiming's strength would likely be on par with the Sun King at his peak.
"Of course!"
Cang Ya was also proud of the strong members of her family. "If Cang Beiming weren't strong, there wouldn't be many Sixth Stage Dragon Masters in the entire empire who could be considered powerful. After all, he's ranked in the Hidden Dragon Sequence on the Ascension List."
