Chapter 46: Yin Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation
Chapter 46: Yin Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation
With a flash, Kakashi Hatake appeared on the stage.
"Kakashi, good luck!" Hanabi cheered for Kakashi.
Seeing that Kakashi had used the Body Flicker Technique to get on stage, Obito felt that Kakashi was showing off, and he would have to learn that technique, too.
"Kakashi Hatake is extraordinary. He's a well-known genius in Konoha, and I believe this is your second time participating, isn't it?" The host took the opportunity to introduce Kakashi a little more due to his fame.
"Mhm," Kakashi nodded indifferently without elaborating further, exuding an air of aloofness.
"Kakashi Hatake, what ninjutsu will you be performing for us today?" the host asked.
"Earth Style: Earth Flow Wall," Kakashi replied.
As soon as the host stepped back, Kakashi swiftly formed the necessary hand seals, and his chakra surged within him.
"Doton: Doryuheki!"
Along with Kakashi's incantation, the venue trembled slightly, and then a thick and solid wall began to rise slowly from behind him.
"To be able to perform an Earth Style ninjutsu of this caliber..." The judge stared at the long and sturdy Earth Flow Wall, deep in thought.
If it had been any other time, he would have given a perfect score without hesitation. But now that there was already one perfect score, giving another one would mean having two first-place winners.
The judge thought for a moment before finally holding up a sign that read '10'. He decided to leave the difficult decision of determining the true winner to the event organizers.
"That guy is still as freakish as ever," Asuma Sarutobi commented, unsurprised by Kakashi's performance.
"To defeat Kakashi with his ninjutsu, I still have a long way to go," Might Guy thought back to the fight where Kakashi had held back nothing.
That had been a near-complete crush; aside from an unexpected kick from the Konoha Whirlwind, he had been unable to land a single blow in return.
Seeing one of the judges give a perfect score, Obito had a bad feeling. If Kakashi also got a perfect score, how would they determine who was truly first?
"Ten, ten, ten! Kakashi Hatake's total score is thirty points! Unbelievable! This is the second perfect score of the day and the first time we've ever had a tie for first place in the competition's history!" The host exclaimed in astonishment.
The caliber of contestants in this tournament was exceptionally high, with two perfect scores. Someone of Uchiha Tekka's level would have easily taken first place in the previous competition.
"What terrible luck," Uchiha Tekka muttered, feeling glum. He had thought he would take first place, but now he had been pushed down to third.
And he couldn't even complain, as the ninjutsu displayed by both Obito and Kakashi had indeed been superior.
"If only you had participated, Shisui. You could have also gotten a perfect score," Uchiha Tekka said.
He was confident in Shisui's abilities. Even though Shisui was two years younger than him, he knew he wasn't a match for his clan mate.
Shisui smiled but remained silent. He hadn't been particularly interested in the tournament, and now that Obito was so eager to take first place, he had even less reason to participate.
"Are you satisfied now? If you want to beat me, keep training for a few more years," Kakashi said to Obito as he stepped down from the stage.
"Why are you acting so proud? We both got thirty points, and I even got mine earlier. By that logic, I should be the winner," Obito argued, refusing to back down.
"You were able to get thirty points because that's the maximum score possible. I got thirty points because that's the highest score there is," Kakashi replied calmly.
"Y-You..." Obito couldn't think of a retort, and his face began to redden.
"Alright, that's enough. You're both amazing, so there's no need to argue," Hanabi stood between the two, wearing a helpless smile.
Near the competition venue, the event organizers and merchants began discussing the unexpected turn of events.
"That's a good way to decide on a sole first-place winner, but it might not be the best idea. One of them is still a student, and it's already impressive that he mastered a Fire Style ninjutsu," another merchant expressed his disagreement.
"Then can't we just have them share the first place?" a sudden voice interjected.
The merchants found the voice unfamiliar and turned to see a man with a forehead protector and blond hair standing beside them.
"You could also use the dual-first-place finish as a promotional gimmick for a discount event to attract more shoppers," Mu Yue suggested with a smile.
"That's a great idea!" The merchants found Mu Yue's proposal very appealing, as one of their goals in hosting the competition was to increase foot traffic in the commercial district.
If they could attract more people to shop, it would be a win-win situation. Even a small increase in sales would make up for the cost of the prizes, especially since the first-place prize was only eight thousand ryo.
"Ninja-san, would you be interested in opening a shop here?" One of the shop owners, impressed by Mu Yue's business acumen, extended an invitation.
"No, thank you. I'm just a passing Chunin. Your competition is excellent, and it will surely motivate the young shinobi of the village to train harder," Mu Yue praised before taking her leave.
If it came down to a tie-breaker between Obito and Kakashi, Obito would undoubtedly lose to Kakashi.
Mu Yue had gone to great lengths to ensure Obito's first-place finish, and she hoped that the rewards would be worth her efforts.
In the subsequent rounds of the tournament, no one else achieved a perfect score like Obito and Kakashi. Not even anyone better than Uchiha Tekka, with the highest score being twenty-three points.
When all the contestants had finished their performances, it was time to announce the rankings.
"In first place, we have Uchiha Obito and Hatake Kakashi! In second place, Uchiha Tekka..." The host announced the top three contestants.
Mu Yue's suggestion was heeded, and Obito and Kakashi shared the first-place spot, resulting in a tie.
"Consider yourself lucky this time. Next time, I'll definitely beat you," Obito proclaimed excitedly upon receiving his first-place reward.
"Maybe if your strength ever matches your tough talk, you might be able to," Kakashi retorted, his wit as sharp as ever, leaving Obito with no retort.
Fortunately, Obito was consoled by his first-place rewards—a beautifully crafted silver-plated kunai and eight thousand ryo. As he admired his prizes, he felt content despite Kakashi's verbal victory.
As the rankings were announced, Obito's training mission also came to an end.
Disciple Uchiha Obito has completed his training mission and received the following rewards: Chakra +800, Ninjutsu Proficiency Scroll, Yin Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation (Proficient).
Mu Yue was pleased to see the rewards that popped up, feeling that they were well worth Obito's twenty days of effort.
The 800 chakra points would have required Obito to complete forty B-rank missions.
The Ninjutsu Proficiency Scroll was also a valuable item, instantly raising the proficiency of a ninjutsu to a proficient level.
However, what truly delighted Mu Yue was the Yin Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation, even more so than the 800 chakra points.
The Yin and Yang nature transformations were notoriously difficult to cultivate. In the moment that she received the reward, Mu Yue's mind was instantly imbued with a wealth of knowledge and memories about training in the Yin Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation.
Mu Yue opened her system panel and began reviewing her data.
