Chapter 46: Destroying the Undead Forces
Chapter 46: Destroying the Undead Forces
Qin Muye, Mo Xue, and Xie Yu sped along. After the monster siege, all the wild monsters in the area had disappeared, clearly having been conscripted and then eliminated by Qin Muye.
This rapid march was truly exhausting. Qin Muye and Xie Yu couldn't keep up with the main force and had to be carried by a Bloodthirsty Imp. What else could they do?
They couldn't just be left behind, which made Qin Muye realize that he needed to strengthen himself. Once he had more heroes, he wouldn't need to run around outside anymore. He could just stay in the Mage Tower to conduct research.
In the meantime, he took a break to browse the Points Store. He now had 90,000 activity points. If he wanted to exchange for the Magic Guild and the Library, it would cost 80,000 points, leaving him with only 10,000 points, which wouldn't be enough to exchange for all the basic buildings.
So, he had to make a choice.
In the end, Qin Muye chose the blueprints for the Magic Guild and the Library, two rare buildings. He used the remaining 10,000 points to exchange for ten class conversion certificates, all for common classes, not rare ones.
These classes were Noble, Merchant, Farmer, Miner, Lumberjack, Chef, Physician, Mage, Knight, and Archer. The first seven were life classes, while the last three were combat classes. The Mage was to complete his lineage, the Knight to train cavalry, and the Archer to train ranged units, thereby enhancing the combat strength of his territory.
Therefore, he now needed 10 Champion-level Imps to fill the gap. This was a significant shortage, and even now, he had only acquired 2 Champion-level Imps. Finding ten more wouldn't be easy.
For using these class conversion certificates, only elite Imps wouldn't do. Qin Muye had seen the difference between common and rare classes. Heroes couldn't undergo talent elevation like he, a gifted lord, could. Therefore, the class represented the potential of a hero.
Perhaps there were even Epic classes above rare ones, but that was beyond Qin Muye's reach. It was not wise to aim too high.
He knew what he could and could not achieve. He was a commoner who had studied hard, lacking physical fitness and extraordinary talent. The best way to develop was to be down-to-earth.
"Master, we've arrived!"
The Bloodthirsty Imp carrying Qin Muye reminded him as he was lost in thought.
Qin Muye snapped back to reality and saw a massive, arched tomb surrounded by a thick, eerie mist, but it was eerily quiet.
At this moment, Mo Xue had already arranged for a Bloodthirsty Imp to start exploring. As soon as the Imp stepped into the tomb, the expected prompt appeared.
[You have captured an Undead territory]
[Occupy: Make it a sub-territory]
[Plunder: Loot some resources]
[Destroy: Destroy the territory and obtain all resources]
[Leave: Do nothing]
"Inside is empty. Everyone, go in and loot, focusing on books, blueprints, and various treasures." Qin Muye didn't immediately choose an option but instead ordered the Imps to go in and loot.
To him, resources weren't the most important; knowledge was.
One by one, the Imps rushed into the tomb, and Qin Muye naturally followed. Staying outside would be too dangerous.
Inside, the air was heavy and stale, as if it had never been cleaned, and the air was thick and stagnant.
Undead beings are, by nature, the dead and thus do not require air. They also lack the normal human senses of taste and smell, making such conditions irrelevant.
This is a rather useful characteristic, allowing territories to be established underground, providing greater safety.
After a thorough search, they quickly found a considerable number of books, mostly in the form of skill books.
In addition, they discovered a door, a Medium Treasure Bi-directional Teleportation Gate, though it was unclear where it led. There were other treasures as well, but they were all of the Basic level.
Of course, the most important were the blueprints for these Basic treasures, such as the four-piece set for the Corpse Knight, the heavy armor for the Skeleton Heavy Infantry, and the heavy armor for the Skeleton Heavy Cavalry, among others.
There were no building blueprints, as this undead force was a native one, not like Qin Muye, a Heaven-granted lord who could build structures at will. They had accumulated their resources bit by bit over time.
After the search was nearly complete, Qin Muye chose to destroy the territory.
[You have destroyed this Undead territory]
[You have obtained]
[Common Resources: Wood 364 units, Ore 2478 units]
[Gold ×763]
"Is that all? Oh, right, I looted it beforehand."
Qin Muye looked at the collapsed Undead territory. The meager resources he received were likely from dismantling all the buildings. While his actions were akin to draining the pond to catch all the fish, the best course would have been to occupy the territory. However, managing his own territory was already a challenge, let alone an Undead one with such poor living conditions.
He estimated that other races would face significant issues if they lived there for too long, aside from the Undead.
He had never considered developing in the direction of Undead.
"Let's head back. The Undead should be gone. Tomorrow, Maggots, lead a group to explore the entire Red Wind Plains."
If the Spider Zombie hero had not lied, the entire Red Wind Plains would likely only have his forces left. However, it was better to be cautious and have Maggots conduct another search.
"Yes, Master."
The Imps returned in a grand procession, this time laden with loot.
Qin Muye looked at the large number of skill books and magic books in his inventory, and his face broke into a broad smile.
These books were undoubtedly remnants of the Seven City Alliance of Mages.
Even in book form, they resembled his earlier "Basic Elemental Meditation Technique," transforming into a variety of skills and spells, such as Magic Power, Tactics, and Reconnaissance, among others. This was a significant windfall.
However, they were mostly of the Intermediate level, with no Advanced ones. Clearly, the Advanced ones contained crucial knowledge and had been taken away.
The remaining books were likely just the basics for the mages, otherwise, they would not have been discarded.
"Once we return, I'll build the Library and the Magic Guild. Then, I'll store all these books there. They are the foundation of my territory."
Once the Library is established, skill books can be placed inside, and heroes can learn skills from them, effectively turning one-time-use skill books into multiple uses.
However, learning requires the expenditure of experience and resources. The experience is provided by the hero, but the resources are deducted from the territory's account, mostly gold or special resources.
The Magic Guild has a similar function, but for spells instead of skills.
