Chapter 459: The Web of Consciousness, the Usurper!
Chapter 459: The Web of Consciousness, the Usurper!
Chen Mo was comparing various data points. As a leader, he naturally had to take the initiative. Food was crucial, so he and Duke Bai Shuang were taking turns, alternating between each other. Otherwise, such an overload of work would eventually lead to a fatal outcome, unlike Qin Muye, who wasn't human.
While observing the progress, Chen Mo suddenly noticed that the world was eerily quiet. This immediately alarmed him, as the existence of the mental network made it impossible for such silence to occur.
"Child, sleep. The danger will stay away from you."
A sudden voice echoed in his mind, clearer this time, unlike the previous blurry sensation. This made him panic.
Just as he stood up to call for help, he felt his consciousness continuously falling, everything turning dark, as if he were plummeting off a cliff.
When he regained his senses, he found that the surroundings had changed dramatically.
"An illusion?"
He carefully observed the environment. It was pitch black, but the ground emitted a faint light. These lights were not from the ground itself but were white rays of light, spreading out like a web.
However, he couldn't see what was at the center of the web, only a mass of continuously dispersing darkness.
"Where am I?" Chen Mo tried to move, but found he couldn't, as if he were just a node on this web.
"Of course, it's inside your consciousness." A cold and hateful voice suddenly sounded behind him.
"Who?!" He spun around, but saw nothing, only the web glowing faintly.
"Ha, are you looking for me?"
The voice came again, and Chen Mo suddenly felt something moving on his back, pulling his body involuntarily.
Bang!
A pain in the back of his head, and Chen Mo realized he seemed to be connected to something, like a conjoined twin.
He knew about conjoined twins from the inherited knowledge. Generally, as long as they didn't share organs, the Gendaya civilization could easily separate them.
But clearly, his situation was not that of a conjoined twin, but something more complex.
Soon, he saw a head stretch out from his neck, a face he knew well—his own.
"Your Mother Goddess has been good to you, stealing my identity to make you a lord. But unfortunately, your so-called Mother Goddess underestimated 'The Lord's Epoch.' She gave you the identity, but you can only look, not use it. How frustrating, isn't it?" The face looked at the third eye on the other's forehead, revealing extreme hatred.
He was the true Lord Chen Mo, not the Three-Eyed Clan Chen Mo.
"You are me? No, who is the Mother Goddess?" The Three-Eyed Clan Chen Mo instantly reacted, seemingly understanding why he didn't have the corresponding permissions.
"Ha, guess who." The true Lord Chen Mo sneered and didn't speak further.
But the Three-Eyed Clan Chen Mo wasn't stupid. In the Gendaya civilization, there was only one being called the Mother Goddess—Survival and Reproduction.
His gaze fell on the amorphous darkness at the center of the web.
"Shouldn't She be there? Then this web must be the mental network." The Three-Eyed Clan Chen Mo was clearly much calmer than the true Lord Chen Mo, having grown quickly and become more stable due to his experiences.
"Perhaps, but you're dead either way." The true Lord Chen Mo said resentfully.
Though suppressed at the lowest level, he knew everything that had recently happened. After all, he was the true owner of this body, not the Three-Eyed Clan Chen Mo.
So whether it was the disappearance of the sun or the madness of the gods, he knew all about it. He could even control the territory from within, but to avoid being discovered, he hadn't moved.
However, with the development of the mental network and the descent of the Gendaya Mother Goddess, he had no more opportunities. Unless Qin Muye intervened, he was doomed.
He knew this.
"Does the Mother Goddess want to see me? Or am I here to take over you?" The Three-Eyed Clan Chen Mo also understood where his missing memories had gone. His memories belonged to the true Lord Chen Mo.
So, theoretically, his birth was not entirely complete.
"Stay in the cradle, be wary of the abyss, be wary of the abyss~"
"I will help you get rid of all dangers~"
The ethereal voice continuously echoed in the dark space, and Chen Mo of the Three-Eyed Clan's expression changed. He decisively asked, "Abyss, what is the abyss?"
However, the Gendaya Mother Goddess did not respond, as if she was only providing instinctual warnings.
Instead, Lord Chen Mo burst into maniacal laughter.
"What do you know? Speak quickly! Tell me the truth, and I'll let you off!" Chen Mo of the Three-Eyed Clan could only turn his gun and aim it at Lord Chen Mo, who was connected to him.
"Do you know the other lord?" Lord Chen Mo, after laughing to his heart's content, spoke with a tone of malicious glee.
"I know, you traded a great price for the opportunity to awaken your bloodline, I—"
"You need to understand one thing: I don't have the Three-Eyed Clan's bloodline. This bloodline was a reward for a task, and you don't even know the other party; you only heard some things from Priest Black." Lord Chen Mo interrupted him.
"Do you think you know everything? Do you know what 'The Lord's Epoch' is? Do you know what units and hero units are? You don't, you're just an imposter, so you have no permissions. Now, your so-called Mother Goddess wants to make you a true lord."
"Unfortunately, she still underestimated 'The Lord's Epoch!'"
As Chen Mo of the Three-Eyed Clan listened to Lord Chen Mo, his unease grew.
"You mean the abyss is related to that lord?" Chen Mo of the Three-Eyed Clan steadied his nerves and hurriedly asked.
"Do you think I'll tell you? I'd rather see you die without knowing anything. After all, with preparation, there might be a chance to turn the tide." Lord Chen Mo spoke mockingly.
Fortunately, Chen Mo of the Three-Eyed Clan knew this wasn't the time to get angry. If they were in the real world, his blood pressure would probably be sky-high.
"Mother Goddess, how do I merge with him?" Chen Mo of the Three-Eyed Clan knew that getting Lord Chen Mo to talk was impossible, so he decided to cut off the root and merge with him directly. Once the memories returned, everything would be clear.
However, the Gendaya Mother Goddess did not respond, as she had no self-awareness, only rules and logic. Chen Mo of the Three-Eyed Clan's question was outside her scope of responsibility, so she couldn't answer.
The warning was already an overreach, and even his presence here was due to Lord Chen Mo.
Unable to answer but not meaning to be passive, the entire mental network began to vibrate, as if a giant spider at the center of the web was moving toward them.
Each vibration caused the two connected figures to feel pain.
Lord Chen Mo's body was continuously being pulled into Chen Mo of the Three-Eyed Clan's body.
This was a fusion, but with Chen Mo of the Three-Eyed Clan as the dominant force. The Gendaya Mother Goddess was the god of the Three-Eyed Clan, so naturally, the Three-Eyed Clan would be the dominant force, not Lord Chen Mo.
If the fusion was successful, Chen Mo would become a true member of the Three-Eyed Clan, not the original lord.
"You will not die well, not die well!!!" Lord Chen Mo screamed and raged, a clear sign of impotent fury, which was indeed the case, as he had no means of resistance.
As the vibrations intensified, Lord Chen Mo's voice grew weaker, leaving only his head hanging from Chen Mo of the Three-Eyed Clan's neck.
When the head was pulled in, everything fell into silence.
A flood of memories surged out, making Chen Mo of the Three-Eyed Clan the true Chen Mo.
Raising his head, he saw a tall humanoid figure standing in the darkness. Though he couldn't see the details, he could tell it was a female form. The most prominent feature was the eye on her forehead.
"Mother Goddess?" As Chen Mo spoke, he felt a moment of dizziness. When he regained his senses, he had returned to the real world. If it weren't for the memories and lord permissions he had gained, he would have suspected it was all an illusion.
"I'm back!"
From this moment on, the situation would no longer be as passive as before, as he had now obtained the complete identity of a lord.
