Chapter 459: Divine Beasts Drawn to the World Tree
Chapter 459: Divine Beasts Drawn to the World Tree
"Roar~"
Haxorus couldn't wait to get back to Haxorus Island and immediately indulged in the fruits of its labor for the day.
As the Pokeblock entered its mouth, the crisp and tender texture filled its palate, with the rich aroma of the tree fruit and the sweet crust melding perfectly together, creating a delightful treat that wasn't overly cloying.
This was it! This was the taste it remembered!
The over a dozen newly recruited Haxorus employees lit up with excitement.
They plopped down right on the grass, basking in the sunset, their faces radiating contentment as they savored the Pokeblocks.
Seeing the reactions of these Haxorus, the veteran employee Haxorus were taken aback and gathered around to watch, bewildered by their colleagues' behavior.
Soon, some of the working Haxorus felt exasperated and simply flew off into the Reverse World with their Pokeblock boxes, intending to head back to Haxorus Island to rest.
The veteran Haxorus shot a disdainful glance at their enthusiastic but naive newcomers.
Naoki stood by, observing the scene for a while before speaking up, "Oh, right, Haxorus, why don't you try one as well and see if there's any difference in taste."
Upon hearing this, Haxorus picked up a Pokeblock and took a bite. Its eyes widened slightly, and a puzzled expression crossed its face as it let out a curious, "Roar?"
Hadn't today's Pokeblocks been made by Naoki and his sister, Aigonshi?
Noticing Haxorus' confusion, Naoki explained, "I bought these from a store that specializes in selling Pokeblocks. Do they taste alright to you?"
Haxorus carefully savored the treat. While it preferred the Pokeblocks made by Naoki, these store-bought ones were still delicious.
"Roar!" Haxorus nodded its head vigorously.
Naoki breathed a sigh of relief. He had been worried that Haxorus might not enjoy the store-bought Pokeblocks.
As long as Haxorus could accept them, it would make things much easier for him and his sister, Aigonshi, lessening their burden.
However, constantly ordering from the store wasn't a sustainable solution...
It would be great if there were Pokemon skilled in making Pokeblocks.
With their help, he could set up a Pokeblock-making station on the World Tree, letting them assist with the baking.
That way, the Pokemon living on the World Tree could also make their own Pokeblocks to enjoy.
As these thoughts crossed Naoki's mind, several Pokemon silhouettes appeared in his head.
He had previously asked the Adventurer's Guild to help invite them, but Mew and Teddiursa hadn't encountered those Pokemon yet.
Naoki considered capturing a few more Aigonshi to bring to the ranch, but wild Aigonshi were incredibly rare and hard to come by.
The two he had were already a stroke of incredible luck, as they had happened to meet that kind old man who was helping Aigonshi find suitable future owners.
"Oh well, these things can't be rushed."
After a brief moment of contemplation, Naoki decided to put this matter aside for now.
After all, he had something even more important to tend to.
Pokemon League Calendar Year 200, May 3rd.
The Rejuvenated Forme Cresselia had recovered the energy she had expended, and today was the day to continue the nurturing of the World Tree.
Early in the morning, Naoki led the Pokemon from the ranch into the Reverse World, arriving at the empty island where the World Tree stood.
Looking up at the towering tree before them, both Naoki and Rejuvenated Forme Cresselia felt a surge of excitement.
This was their second-to-last session of nurturing the World Tree.
With one more visit next month, the World Tree would be fully matured!
After so many sessions, Rejuvenated Forme Cresselia was intimately familiar with the process of nurturing the World Tree.
Without a word, she gently raised her hand.
A surge of radiant light, like a tidal wave, poured into the World Tree.
The next second, an unprecedented green tide erupted from the World Tree, transforming into concentric rings of green energy that rippled outward.
The Pokemon within the World Tree seemed to sense something and lifted their heads to gaze at the sky.
Mewtwo's figure flickered, and it instantly appeared at the top of the World Tree.
Bathed in the verdant glow, Mewtwo lowered its head, its gaze falling upon Naoki and his group of Pokemon.
"Buzzz!"
Accompanying the strange buzzing sound, the entire Reverse World underwent a dramatic transformation.
The green ripples enveloped the surrounding empty islands.
Where the light touched, lush greenery sprouted on the once desolate and barren islands, infusing them with life.
In this moment, the entire Reverse World seemed to gain a newfound vitality.
Dialga, who had been surfing the web, sensed this anomaly and was instantly jolted awake.
It lifted its head, flapped its massive dragon wings, and flew over, landing beside Naoki and the group of Pokemon.
Dialga's eyes widened in disbelief.
It could clearly feel the changes occurring in its Reverse World.
Compared to Dialga, Naoki remained relatively calm.
This was a sign that the World Tree was nearing maturity, and its influence was starting to affect this world.
The first to be impacted was Dialga's Reverse World.
Naoki's curiosity piqued as he gazed at the distant islands brimming with life.
In the Johto region, a brilliant rainbow arched across the sky, and at the end of this rainbow, a sacred and beautiful Pokemon, Ho-Oh, was flying towards the distance.
Ho-Oh is the legendary Pokemon said to bring happiness to people.
Suddenly, a gust of wind rich with the essence of nature blew in Ho-Oh's face.
Sensing the vibrant natural essence and vitality within, Ho-Oh froze in place. Its fiery eyes flickered with surprise and curiosity as it scanned its surroundings, trying to pinpoint the source of this energy.
But the wind faded as quickly as it had come, leaving Ho-Oh wondering if it had imagined the whole thing.
Within the ozone layer, a Latias paused in its meal of a small meteor's shell. It turned to survey its surroundings but found nothing amiss.
Confusion flashed in Latias's eyes, and with a swiftness that belied its dark form, it shot off like a lightning bolt toward the distant horizon, seeking the source of the energy it had sensed.
Deep within the mysterious caves of the Kalos region, something stirred.
Xerneas, the legendary Pokemon that resembles a cobra with a black and green body, abruptly opened its pale eyes.
Xerneas is the guardian of the ecosystem, and unlike other legendary Pokemon that roam the lands, it is known as the 'Z' form that divides itself into "core" and "cell" entities, spreading them across the land to monitor the ecological system for any abnormalities.
Should any force threaten the balance of the ecosystem, Xerneas would emerge and unleash its power, mercilessly eliminating the offenders.
Now, the ecosystem of this land was becoming precarious.
In the wild forests, negative energy cores in the form of gigantic plants were everywhere.
And the culprits behind this disturbance, the ones responsible for destabilizing the region, were the highly dangerous beings known as humans.
But at this moment, Xerneas sensed a faint, almost imperceptible aura.
Was it a warning from nature and the ecosystem? Xerneas wondered, its face a mask of confusion.
Though the aura was weak, Xerneas could discern its direction.
It wasn't coming from the Kalos region but from somewhere far away.
After a brief silence, Xerneas made a decision and contacted one of its "cells" monitoring the ecosystem in the forest, ordering it to investigate that direction.
In the Hoenn region, within the depths of a massive volcano—a place of scorching heat and molten lava where life ends—a colossal Pokemon with a crimson shell opened its eyes.
Deep in the ocean, within a hidden cave in the dark abyss, a large blue Pokemon sleeping in the seawater also opened its eyes.
Groudon and Kyogre looked around, perplexed.
They had just sensed a pure, natural energy, but it vanished as quickly as it had come, leaving them unable to pinpoint its source.
Had they imagined it?
Beyond all universes, in an endless void, the creator of these worlds, Arceus, noticed something amiss in one of the worlds it had crafted.
A light shone in Arceus's eyes, and the entirety of that world was laid bare before it.
Naoki, the human; the Mega Rayquaza; the World Tree they had grown; the Adventure Guild; the Hero Expedition Team; Mew and Teddiursa...
"Expedition team..." Arceus murmured. It recalled that this world, which it had created, did not originally have expedition teams.
Arceus had created many worlds, some with only humans and others with only Pokemon.
Expedition teams were a product of those worlds inhabited solely by Pokemon.
However, in a world where humans and Pokemon coexisted and developed together, it was impossible for expedition teams composed solely of Pokemon to emerge.
Could it be because of that human? Arceus wondered. Has he caused this world to manifest things that should not exist?
"Interesting," Arceus mused, a hint of amusement in its eyes.
"Indeed," it said, and two words escaped its lips.
It wanted to see what else that human, Naoki, could bring to intrigue it.
Reverse World.
As Rejuvenated Forme Cresselia's nurturing session came to an end, the abnormalities on the World Tree gradually subsided, and the green glow slowly faded away.
In the blink of an eye, the tree returned to its original state.
Naoki looked up, and detailed information about the World Tree appeared in his mind.
[World Tree (Mature Stage)
: A seedling that absorbed a large amount of Grass Energy, undergoing a mutation during its growth due to Landorus' influence. It is brimming with vibrant life force and is said to be able to support a world, nurturing all creatures with its natural energy. It will take another 9,854 years to reach full maturity.]
Seeing this number, Naoki was delighted.
With one more visit next month, the World Tree would be fully grown! It was quite incredible.
Reducing the time from ten thousand years to nine thousand years in just two years.
And all thanks to Rejuvenated Forme Cresselia.
Without her power, he would never have seen the World Tree mature in his lifetime.
"I'll be counting on you again next month!"
Naoki turned to the Giratina beside him, his eyes shining with excitement.
Giratina's mood was also excellent. Because of this tree, its Reverse World had changed, causing the once barren islands to sprout lush greenery and vibrant life.
It bared its teeth, revealing a ferocious smile, and confidently said, "Leave it to me!"
Naoki chuckled, "Why don't you come live on the World Tree as well?"
Giratina had already intended to do so.
Even if Naoki hadn't mentioned it, it would have gone there anyway.
Although it couldn't stay away from the Reverse World for extended periods, it could reside in the World Tree's shadow.
From there, it could simply poke its head out and pass through the shadow to reach the World Tree.
With this in mind, Giratina grinned and replied, "Sure!"
With the World Tree's nurturing complete, Naoki bid farewell to Giratina and led the group of Pokemon back from the Reverse World to the ranch.
It was a clear and sunny day, with temperatures in the northwestern region of Pasio reaching a scorching 37 degrees.
The Eevees had just gone to play on the World Tree, and Axew had gone to the Haxorus Island, leaving only Naoki, Garchomp, Froslass, and their group at home.
Naoki glanced around. Garchomp was lying on the carpet, yawning. Froslass was chatting with a Claydol on the windowsill, while Motostoke was lounging on the sofa, watching TV. As for the Plusle and Minun siblings, they were engrossed in playing on the 3DS consoles Naoki had given them.
"What game are you playing?" Naoki was curious about what could have them so captivated.
"Ai~!"
The sister, Minun, turned happily and showed Naoki the game screen.
On the screen were two Pokemon, a Charmander and an Eevee, seemingly adventuring through a maze.
"Ai~!" (We're playing Pokemon Mystery Dungeon! This Charmander is my brother, and this Eevee is me. We're adventuring through the dungeon together!)
"Mystery Dungeon?" Naoki was slightly taken aback.
He switched the game to the background and saw the title—Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team, developed by Game Freak.
Naoki's eyes widened. Wow! So the Pokemon world has Game Freak too?
Minun looked at Naoki expectantly and asked, "Ai~?" (Do you want to play with us?)
Naoki hesitated, "Can this game be played multiplayer?"
The brother, Plusle, who was adept at gaming, nodded, "Ai~." (Up to six players can play together.)
"Alright, you guys carry on. I'll order another 3DS, and we can play together once it arrives." As Naoki spoke, he used his Rotom Phone to place an order on a shopping app.
A 3DS cost about 18,000 League Coins, which wasn't too expensive.
Hearing this, the siblings were overjoyed.
Minun exclaimed, "Ai~!" (Great!)
Determination shone in Plusle's eyes. He was eager to tackle the most challenging dungeon with Naoki!
He had cleared that dungeon long ago, but his sister Minun struggled with it. So, she kept pestering him to play together.
Eventually, he relented and agreed.
