Chapter 459: Alliance
Chapter 459: Alliance
"Hey, doesn’t something feel... off about Bu Jue?" Fei Chai Shu remained astonishingly composed mid-fight, muttering this offhandedly as he casually swatted Shidao Wei Wang backward with a palm strike.
"Haa... haa..." Shidao Wei Wang’s breathing was ragged. During this brief respite, he could barely catch his breath, let alone respond to his opponent’s question.
Their battle had raged for over a dozen minutes. Shidao Wei Wang had exhausted his best techniques and drained his stamina, yet Fei Chai Shu still looked utterly relaxed – a chilling contrast.
"It’s like after that explosion sound just now..." Fei Chai Shu continued talking to himself, seeing his foe’s silence as an invitation, "the Commentary vanished completely."
"Why..." Shidao Wei Wang, fixated solely on victory, ignored everything else. "Why?! You should’ve taken damage from all those Class A martial arts skills! How are you still standing?!" His eyes bulged, practically bleeding with fury.
"Huh?" Fei Chai Shu turned fully to face him, smirking coldly. "Why would I share secrets with someone of your intellect?" He rubbed his stubbled chin. "But... you really are a completely different person compared to last time."
"Hmph. Because this time, this is my true capability!" Shidao Wei Wang growled.
"Oh..." Fei Chai Shu suddenly looked enlightened. "So you didn’t take any drugs this time, huh. Trying to prove something?"
"I just want to win... to win with dignity!" Shidao Wei Wang roared.
"A laughable notion." Fei Chai Shu’s expression darkened. "You think quitting cheating now suddenly restores your dignity? Your level, equipment, and skills were all gained while doped up – that’s an unchangeable fact. You’re like an athlete who used steroids all the way to the finals. Do you really believe stopping drugs before the final match puts you on equal footing with clean competitors? Wake up."
Shidao Wei Wang’s veins bulged, but he had no retort.
Fei Chai Shu continued, "You were always a strong player. Without drugs, you’d be even stronger. But now, you’ve grown dependent on enhancements. Suddenly quitting? Your body and mind can’t adapt." He shook his head. "To use an analogy – your natural talent is like a high-end manual sports car, while the studio’s drugs are like a second-hand automatic. Now you’ve switched cars mid-race... how much of your rusty driving skills can you actually use?"
"Even if you’re right..." Shidao Wei Wang roared, charging his halberd as he leaped skyward, unleashing a desperate technique.
"Hmph." Fei Chai Shu sighed with a smirk. "But I’m not some opponent you can defeat through sheer willpower alone." His palm flipped, unleashing a violent gale that surged forward, forming a ferocious wind wall.
The outcome of their battle would be decided in this single strike.
Yet at the decisive moment, two uninvited guests crashed in.
"Hold!" A thunderous roar echoed as two shadows streaked downward.
Tian Tian Gui Xiao and Shiva descended from the sky together – the former intercepting Fei Chai Shu’s palm wind with his own technique, while the latter activated the "Moon Edge" special effect of the Celestial Dance Hourglass’s Stone Disc to block Shidao Wei Wang’s killing move.
...
At the same time, elsewhere in the city.
"So... you want to temporarily ally with me?" Matcha Su asked Feng Bu Jue.
Feng Bu Jue had already released his grip on her but remained within two meters, his intimidating intent clear. "Exactly. Interested?"
"What if I say no?" Matcha Su smiled playfully.
"Then I’ll convince you", Feng Bu Jue replied.
"Oh? Hmph..." She grinned, feigning amusement. "Enlighten me."
"Xiao Tan, come here", Feng Bu Jue suddenly called.
"What’s up?" Xiao Tan approached.
"Agree to our alliance, and after we succeed, his points become yours. Do with him as you please – kill, maim, whatever", Feng Bu Jue gestured at Xiao Tan, his expression unchanged.
"Hey!" Xiao Tan flinched. "Does anyone openly betray someone while they’re standing right there?!"
"My brother’s just that upright", Feng Bu Jue said with unrepentant pride.
"Beautiful lady, let’s team up to take him down. This guy’s worth three points."
"Not a bad offer", Matcha Su replied casually, though she wasn’t serious. Her relaxed demeanor masked constant calculations for an escape route.
Feng Bu Jue saw through this but chose not to expose her.
"Oh, right", Feng Bu Jue added. "I’m tight with Qiu Fengse from your guild. He probably mentioned me?"
"Hmph... he did", Matcha Su replied, eyeing him sideways.
"No wonder you keep looking at him with that mix of disdain and fear", Xiao Tan quipped.
Ignoring the jab, Feng Bu Jue pressed, "See? A friend of a friend makes a trustworthy foundation."
"Qiu Feng never said you were his friend", Matcha Su countered.
"How could he not?!" Feng Bu Jue dragged out the words theatrically. "We hit it off instantly! We’re so close we even use nicknames – he’s Pikachu, and I’m the Mysterious Trainer Mad Bu Juelord Who Refuses to Reveal His Identity."
"Fei Chai Shu, that eighteen-syllable contradiction of a nickname that’s neither mysterious nor original..." Xiao Tan muttered, "clearly made up on the spot. And you still can’t help but slight others in it..."
"Hmph. We’re all smart people. Stop your comedy routine with Xiao Tan", Matcha Su dropped her smile, fixing Feng Bu Jue with a sharp gaze. "You’re seeking my help for a specific reason. In this scenario full of experts, if there’s one unique trait of mine that caught your eye... it’s obviously my mechanical proficiency." She paused. "So speak plainly – what do you need from me? And what can you offer in return? If satisfied, a temporary alliance isn’t out of the question."
