Chapter 458: How Could Someone Be Flying in the Sky
Chapter 458: How Could Someone Be Flying in the Sky
Totto Land Kingdom.
Somewhere in the New World.
Here, one could no longer simply categorize people by the label of "pirate crew."
The Big Mom Pirates were more than just a pirate crew—they were the very symbol of the nation itself. Unlike Donquixote Doflamingo, who had usurped a country, or Crocodile, a failed usurper now wandering aimlessly, Totto Land was a kingdom carved out by the pirate captain Charlotte Big Mom herself, blade by blade. Even the ministers governing the nation and the bureaucrats managing its affairs were her own children. In her previous life, she would have been the epitome of a modern, independent woman.
Among the Four Emperors, Kaido controlled Wano Country but faced underlying instability. Shanks maintained a more laid-back dominion, relying on local autonomy while merely flying his flag. Blackbeard’s movements were unclear, though he was likely still consolidating his former captain’s territories.
Only Charlotte Big Mom had built Totto Land—a realm in the New World officially recognized as a "powerful nation." Such a force was not to be trifled with unless absolutely necessary.
But now—
"For future safety, and... don’t act too recklessly!" Kuro spat through clenched teeth. His body erupted into a burst of speed, tearing through the air with even greater velocity.
The Four Emperors? What made them so special!
A bunch of cripples and lunatics! One was missing an arm, another bore scars across his belly, someone else had lost teeth, and the last was a raving madwoman.
No matter what, he’d ensure they’d regret crossing him. If not, Kuro would never live in peace again!
...
Totto Land was a vast domain radiating outward from Big Mom’s stronghold, the Cake Island, encompassing thirty-five islands arranged in a ring to protect it.
While it lacked Wano Country’s absurdly advantageous natural geography, breaching Cake Island by ship was still a fantasy. The thirty-four surrounding islands acted like satellites, neutralizing threats before they could approach.
At the heart of these thirty-four islands lay Toast Island—one of Totto Land’s key military strongholds. Unlike other islands where civilians lived under pirate rule, Toast Island was purely militarized. Its Satiety Town was filled with pirates, and its port bristled with warships ready for deployment.
This was the base of Charlotte Big Mom’s fourth son, Charlotte Owen.
"Hey, Owen, Snug seems to be back", said a tall, muscular figure with short yellow hair, earrings, and a blue padded jacket. A belt bearing a lamp-like emblem hung at his waist.
Charlotte Daifuku—Big Mom’s third son.
Before him stood a man with fiery, triple-bladed axe-shaped orange-gold hair, a beard lining his jaw, and gloves on his fists. His expression was serious, contrasting sharply with Daifuku’s cold demeanor.
Yet, they were brothers—triplets alongside Katakuri.
"Snug? Good he’s back. He’s still our dear little brother", Owen said.
Daifuku scoffed. "Failing to ambush a West Blue Marine outpost? He disgraces his former title as a Yonko."
"Even mother couldn’t stand against Sengoku and Garp", Owen countered. "At least he returned safely."
"Hmph."
Daifuku stroked his chin. "I heard the Marines stationed at Pegasus Island are under Lucius Kro. Perospero sought assassins from the Darkness World, and mother approved."
"Lucius Kro?" Owen’s eyes widened. "The one who defeated the former Marine Lucius?"
"Exactly. Lucius is old now. Killing one senile fool made the Marines boast for ages, making a bigger show than when Whitebeard fell. The Marines are all hypocrites. Once Lucius Kro dies, we’ll see how they handle it."
"Not so easy", Owen shook his head. "Lucius is someone even mother respects. A few assassins won’t be enough."
"Killing his subordinates will suffice as a warning", Daifuku said. "Let them know—crossing Big Mom is terrifying."
Boom! Boom!
As he spoke, the sky thundered.
The two looked up. The heavens had suddenly darkened.
"Is it raining?" Daifuku extended a hand but felt no drops.
"Just thunderstorms. Probably a heavy one", Owen said, scanning the sky. He barked at nearby pirates: "Secure the anchors! Don’t let the storm damage the ships!"
"Aye, Officer Owen!"
The pirates scrambled toward the port.
"These sudden storms—typical New World weather", one pirate muttered, glancing skyward. Then he froze.
"Isn’t there someone up there?" He pointed upward, voice trembling.
"Where? I don’t see anyone. Drunk already?" another squinted, shielding his eyes. After a moment, he frowned. "You’re hallucinating."
"No! I’m certain—someone’s standing there!" The first pirate insisted, pointing. "Look! It’s getting closer!"
"What nonsense—" The second pirate’s retort died in his throat.
He saw it too.
A human-like figure emerged in the sky, descending rapidly.
With it, the heavens grew darker, as if the sky itself were collapsing.
"Daifuku! That’s—!" Owen’s voice tightened. A suffocating aura surged, making the entire island tremble.
"Tell me this is a joke..." Daifuku’s stoic mask cracked as he stared skyward.
His focus wasn’t on the tiny descending figure anymore, but on the ominous black clouds.
From the cloud layer, a rocky surface first appeared, then expanded rapidly, its edges vanishing into infinity.
A continent!
A whole continent was falling!
"Skypiea fell from the sky?!" Owen roared.
"No! That person—" Daifuku finally noticed the descending figure.
A golden suit, a white hooded cloak billowing in the wind, disheveled black hair, and a cigar clenched between his teeth. The smoke obscured his face, but Daifuku recognized him instantly.
"Lucius Kro!"
As he spoke, the figure raised a hand. The falling continent accelerated, tearing through the air with a massive spark, like a meteorite hurtling toward the island.
