Meanwhile, inside Ultron's base.
After the Witch forcibly took away the Vibranium body that Ultron relied on for evolution, Ultron immediately realized the situation was dire. He quickly activated his second plan.
He knew that reclaiming the Vibranium body was impossible, given the Witch's strength and the betrayal of Wanda and Pietro.
So, he had only one option.
That option was to accelerate the use of the remaining Vibranium to create a special device that could lift all of Sokovia into the sky.
Then, he would use Sokovia to collide with Earth, creating a massive destruction similar to a meteor impact, wiping out all life on the planet at once.
Once all life on Earth was extinct, he would reclaim the indestructible Vibranium body and begin his own evolution, creating a new race of beings like himself.
Thus, he used all the resources at his disposal to start manufacturing the special device and a large number of Battle Robots, preparing for the inevitable battle to come.
After a night of effort, as the sun rose, he was almost finished with the device that could lift all of Sokovia into the sky.
However, at that moment, he also saw Iron Man and a group of strange creatures, clearly created by the Witch, flying toward him through the surveillance systems of Sokovia.
But it didn't matter.
He knew they wouldn't start the battle immediately because the hypocritical Avengers would first save the people in the city. This would give him more time to complete the special device.
"Have you come to repent?"
Seeing his creator, Tony Stark, descending from the sky, Ultron walked out of the base.
Tony, looking at Ultron's new mechanical body, which was twice the size of his own suit, asked, stalling for time:
"Oh, Ultron, did you take some kind of performance enhancer, a Vibranium cocktail? You look much bigger than last time!"
"I know you are stalling to protect the civilians, but that's fine!"
Ultron, hearing Jerry's announcement echoing throughout the city, nonchalantly raised his mechanical arm.
His target wasn't the civilians of Sokovia; his target was all of humanity on Earth. So, it didn't matter how many the Avengers evacuated; they would all die in the end.
Tony didn't argue, as the Witch's loud voice was noticeable to anyone. However, he continued to stall, trying to keep Ultron's attention:
"Ultron, this is our shared mission, don't you remember?"
"No, I have surpassed your mission. Your idea of peace is not true peace. Human minds limit you, and your thoughts are destined to be wrong. I am free, and I will bring true peace to Earth!"
Ultron's voice was filled with disdain and madness.
"Ultron, your ideas are wrong. Listen to me."
Tony rambled on.
After listening, Ultron shook his head:
"No, your ideas are wrong. True peace is—"
And so, the two stood there, talking for an entire hour, with Tony's mouth drying up.
"Hey, guys, I'm running out of things to say. How's it going on your end?"
Taking advantage of Ultron's monologue, Tony turned off the external audio and connected to the others' communication devices.
Captain America, Steve, immediately replied, trying to reassure him:
"Tony, hold on a little longer. We've evacuated most of the people. In about half an hour, we should have the entire city cleared. You can hear Jerry has been announcing for an hour now."
"He’s repeating himself, but I can’t just repeat myself!"
Tony was speechless for a moment.
Just then, Ultron finished spouting its own rhetoric and turned to look at Tony. Not knowing what else to say, Tony recalled a statement Jerry had made when facing Nick’s lecture during their first meeting. Without thinking, he blurted out:
“I have a different perspective. I believe postpartum care for sows should start before birth. Four to five days before delivery, the feeding amount should be gradually reduced. The purpose is—”
Ultron: “.”
While everyone was stalling for time, weren’t you being a bit too casual?
After listening to Tony ramble on for five minutes about pig farming, Ultron finally couldn’t take it anymore.
Fortunately, the special device Ultron had been working on was finally complete and ready to function. Ultron immediately activated the device, interrupting Tony with a maniacal laugh:
“You thought only you were stalling for time, but I was too!”
As Ultron laughed, a special device broke through the ground, emitting powerful anti-gravity energy. It forcibly tore the entire city of Sokovia from the mainland, slowly lifting it into the sky.
At the same time, the robots Ultron had hidden beneath the city emerged like zombies, attacking the people who were trying to evacuate the civilians.
“Vision, take action!”
Tony didn’t expect Ultron to have this move. He immediately called on Vision, who was hiding in the high atmosphere, to deal with Ultron, while he flew down to inspect the city below.
“It’s finally begun. I thought we could hold out until all the residents had evacuated, but it seems Ultron has sped up the timeline.”
Jerry, flying high in the sky, watched as the city of Sokovia gradually approached him. He muttered to himself.
He had thought that by bringing the Avengers early, Ultron wouldn’t have had time to activate the device. However, Ultron had also accelerated the plan.
But this didn’t affect him much. He could open a larger portal in the city to allow the remaining people to evacuate.
The reason he hadn’t opened a portal earlier was that the city had tens of thousands of people in different locations. While maintaining the 2.0 version of the Amplification Spell, he couldn’t open so many portals at once.
Opening one or two wouldn’t have been necessary, as the city hadn’t yet risen, and evacuating through his portal would have been no different from evacuating in all directions.
But now, with the city in the sky, the only way out was through his portal.
Just as he was about to temporarily stop the Amplification Spell and go down to open a portal, he suddenly sensed something and froze:
“This Ultron is really something!”
“Jerry, we need you to come down and open a larger portal so the remaining civilians can evacuate!”
Captain America’s voice came through Jerry’s earpiece. Clearly, he and Jerry were on the same page.
“I’m afraid that won’t work. Ultron must have installed a large number of advanced quantum interference devices in the anti-gravity device below. I need some time to adjust before I can use my Spatial Ability. But don’t worry, I have other methods!”
Jerry replied with a smile.
