Everyone except Mu Yue was startled by the sudden intense white light.
Unconsciously, Obito shielded Rin Nohara behind him, Might Guy gathered a large amount of chakra at his fingertips, ready to use his Golden Right Hand, and Kakashi almost threw the egg away.
If this ninja beast egg hadn't been given to him by Mu Yue, Kakashi would have tossed it away without a second thought.
He had never heard of a ninja beast egg hatching with a burst of light, and usually, this intensity of light would indicate a trap with numerous explosive tags buried underground.
Mu Yue's expression remained unchanged as she gazed at the center of the white light. The light quickly faded, revealing a small light brown puppy with a white tail in Kakashi's arms.
Kakashi stared blankly at the puppy in his arms, feeling like his perception of the world as a ninja had been shaken.
Why would a dog hatch from an egg? Aren't dogs mammals?
And why does this dog have so much fur right after birth? Shouldn't newborns only have a little fuzz?
Kakashi's mind was filled with questions, unsure if he had read too little or read the wrong books.
Feeling the friendly gaze, the Rockruff returned Kakashi's stare with its blue eyes.
Although it was seeing Kakashi for the first time, perhaps due to the extended period the egg had spent with Kakashi during incubation, the Rockruff seemed familiar and comfortable with him.
"Rock!" The Rockruff happily licked Kakashi's face with its tongue hanging out.

"As expected of a ninja beast hatched by your best friend, the color of its tail is exactly the same as your hair, Kakashi!" Might Guy dispersed the chakra from his fingertips and scratched his chin thoughtfully.
Due to his limited knowledge, Might Guy wasn't as shocked as the others and merely found the white light unusual.
Kakashi felt too exhausted to argue. The ninja beast's fur color had nothing to do with him; it was purely a coincidence.
"Hey, did that dog just speak? It sounded like it said 'Rock.' So, ninja beasts can talk right from birth?" Obito's mood instantly improved after seeing Kakashi's newly hatched Pokemon.
To Obito, this Pokemon looked completely unthreatening—just a strange-looking little puppy.
"This kind of Pokemon is nothing to worry about, even if there were eight more of them." Obito felt confident he could take on eight of these Pokemon.
Kakashi gave Obito a look, speechless. Whether it was a person or a ninja beast, they had to learn to speak; no one was born with that ability.
Of course, that was the theory, but Kakashi did indeed hear his puppy utter something that sounded like "Rock," although it wasn't very clear.
"Rock, rock!" The Rockruff barked happily and nuzzled its head against Kakashi's chest.
Kakashi furrowed his brows in thought. The puppy in his arms didn't seem to be speaking; instead, its bark was different from that of a typical dog. Most dogs would bark "woof," but this one was saying "rock."
"So cute!" Rin Nohara clasped her hands together, her eyes sparkling as she looked at the adorable puppy in Kakashi's arms.
Girls were suckers for cute things, and the Rockruff melted Rin's heart.
"Pfft, what's so cute about it? That white tail is ugly," Obito grumbled as he noticed Rin's gaze fixed on Kakashi and the puppy in his arms.
In his opinion, people with white hair at a young age couldn't be good people, like Kakashi, or Jiraiya, who had challenged Minato Namikaze to a duel.
And when he thought of Danzo Shimura, who had tormented him for a while, Obito's prejudice against white-haired people deepened.
As if sensing someone speaking ill of it, the Rockruff turned its head towards Obito, its gentle eyes sharpening.
Although the Rockruff's current size only made it look more adorable when it glared, Obito still felt a strange sense of unease as he met its gaze.
Obito quickly recovered and felt the urge to punch the Rockruff, asking, "What are you looking at?"

Genma had been quiet up until now, observing the Rockruff intently. There was something unusual about this ninja beast that had hatched from an egg.
From the egg hatching a dog to the burst of white light, everything about it was extraordinary.
Kakashi reached out and stroked the Rockruff's neck thoughtfully. The sharp, hard feel of the rock-like object transmitted to his hand.
The Rockruff didn't resist and instead seemed to enjoy the touch, tilting its head up slightly. Kakashi then scratched the Rockruff's chin, causing it to close its eyes in contentment.
The unusual circumstances of its birth, coupled with Mu Yue's previous emphasis on its strong potential, led Kakashi to believe that this ninja beast would undoubtedly become incredibly powerful as it grew.
The only thing Kakashi was puzzled about was why Mu Yue hadn't shared any information about ninja beasts. Given Mu Yue's knowledge and insight, he assumed that she must know something about them.
However, Kakashi didn't dwell on it too much, trusting that Mu Yue had her reasons, and that there was a deeper meaning behind her actions that they might not yet understand.
In this regard, Kakashi's guess was off the mark. Mu Yue didn't have some grand scheme; it was simply that her knowledge on the subject was limited.
While she knew a lot about Pokemon, the system tended to localize rewards from other worlds to fit the Naruto world. Thus, Pokemon in this world might not be exactly the same as in their original world, so Mu Yue chose to remain silent to avoid any potential errors.
"Kakashi, you should give it a name. It can't go without one," Rin Nohara suggested.
Kakashi furrowed his brows in thought. A name was important; after all, he needed a way to call his ninja beast, and he certainly couldn't just refer to it as "dog."
"Since this dog keeps making those 'rock' sounds, why don't we just call it 'Rock Dog'?" Obito offered his suggestion first.
While it might seem odd to include the word "dog" in the name, Obito felt that his suggestion was quite reasonable, even if it was influenced by a bit of personal sentiment.
"How about 'Youthful Hound' to match your vibrant spirit, my dear friend?" Might Guy suggested enthusiastically, giving the Rockruff a thumbs-up.
However, the Rockruff didn't seem to appreciate Might Guy's naming aesthetics, and it showed its disapproval with a disdainful expression.
Might Guy's eyes widened in disbelief. How could anyone, especially a dog, refuse a name that celebrated the glory of youth?
Kakashi pretended he hadn't heard Might Guy's suggestion, as naming his ninja beast something like that would not only embarrass the beast but also reflect poorly on him as its contractor.
Other ninjas would call upon their beasts with names like "Come forth, Manda!" or "I need you, Bunta."
Imagine him saying, "I choose you, Youthful Hound!"
Kakashi felt that Rock Dog was a better option, as at least the dog's bark sounded like "rock."
While Obito and Might Guy's suggestions weren't great, they did spark a naming discussion, and even Rin came up with several ideas.
"I think 'Shizuku' would be nice, but of course, it's up to you, Kakashi. If you can't think of anything, you could always go with the name of a flower or plant, like 'Suzuran,' which I also like," Rin offered.
Although she adored the ninja beast, she knew it belonged to Kakashi and didn't want to overstep her bounds.
Kakashi nodded slightly, grateful for Rin's more sensible suggestions. Compared to Might Guy and Obito's attempts, Rin's names were almost too normal.
However, while normal, the names she suggested didn't quite resonate with Kakashi.
They sounded pleasant and had a nice ring to them, but they didn't have any particular connection to his ninja beast. Any other dog, or even a pet of a different species, could have those names.
"How about 'White Rock'?" Itachi offered, feeling left out since everyone else had made a suggestion.
Kakashi's hair was white, the ninja beast's tail and neck fur were white, its bark sounded like "rock," and it had been born with a rock around its neck.
Itachi felt that using observable elements and combining them in a simple arrangement could make for a decent name.
Kakashi immediately understood Itachi's idea, and it was the name he liked the most so far, but he still felt that something was missing.
"There's no need to rush and decide on a name right now. No one's saying you have to choose one immediately," Mu Yue chimed in with a smile.
He hadn't realized that Obito had inadvertently guessed the ninja beast's name correctly. However, in the Naruto world, it was uncommon to refer to a species by its name. Each ninja beast had its own unique name, so Mu Yue didn't comment on how fitting "Rock Dog" was.
Kakashi nodded in agreement with Mu Yue. It was better to take their time and carefully consider a name rather than rushing into a decision, as this name would be with them for life.
"From now on, I'll have to bring the ninja beast egg with me during training! I want to hatch a ninja beast that trains as hard as I do!" Might Guy exclaimed excitedly.
If he succeeded in hatching a ninja beast that shared his passion for rigorous training, he would personally modify his green spandex outfit, and if necessary, even create a special spandex outfit for his ninja beast, should it turn out to be a dog.
Mu Yue thought that this was indeed a possibility. Kakashi had hatched a Rock-type Rockruff, so it stood to reason that the Pokemon egg might also be related to his abilities as a disciple.
Given Might Guy's characteristics, it was likely that he would hatch a Pokemon that specialized in Fighting-type moves. After all, physical training and fighting moves went hand in hand.
