He called himself Darkness, sharing the same name as the main antagonist of the entire GX series. Later investigations indeed proved that his power stemmed from the same source as the antagonist, though he only possessed a fraction of Darkness's power.
The man's true identity was, in fact, that of a missing Duel Academy student, a king alongside Caesar—Tenjoin Fubuki, or Asuka's older brother.

"I will convey any messages," Dark Fubuki replied.
"Alright then."
Yu Xuan shrugged.
The next moment, Dark Fubuki sensed something amiss.
Infused with the power of Darkness, he was already quite skilled among the dark duelists in the current world, with a good grasp of controlling and sensing dark power. Thus, he quickly noticed something unusual.
Darkness converged around them, causing even the arena lights to dim slightly. The darkness seemed to take on a tangible form as it gathered, enveloping them in a swirling cloud that isolated them from the others, obscuring both sight and sound.
Eventually, the thick darkness enveloped only the two of them, shutting out everyone else.
Only Yu Xuan and Dark Fubuki remained within.

Dark Fubuki drew a card, his eyes scanning the two face-down cards on Yu Xuan's field.
Since he had specifically used Cost Down to set a monster, it was likely that the set monster was an Advanced Monster. If he attacked with a normal Low-Level monster, he would probably end up hurting himself.
In that case, he'd just have to go all out.
"I summon 'Black Dragon's Chick'!"
A small, red dragon egg appeared on his field. The egg trembled, cracks forming as something pushed out from within. A tiny black dragon poked its head out, letting out a soft cry.

"I activate the effect of Black Dragon's Chick by sending this face-up card on the field to the Graveyard. This allows me to Special Summon 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon' from my hand!

The small dragon egg vanished from the field. An unstoppable force surged from beneath the earth, accompanied by a deafening roar. A lava-like pillar of fire, ignited by an angry god, shot up from the depths of the earth and transformed into a pitch-black dragon clad in armor.
Its crimson eyes seemed to have molten lava flowing within, or perhaps they were two unquenchable flames. Its appearance was accompanied by a wave of scorching heat.
"Red-Eyes Black Dragon," Yu Xuan stated.
"Impressive! This is indeed the legendary Red-Eyes Black Dragon!" Dark Fubuki exclaimed. "The legendary dragon that shatters all possibilities of resistance from its enemies!
Go, Red-Eyes! Destroy that annoying barrier!
Black Flame Bomb!!!"
The Black Dragon breathed a pitch-black fireball from its mouth, a scorching blast that exploded upon the face-down card in front of it. The card flipped over, revealing a majestic, golden sphinx that stood between the dragon and its target.

The black firebomb detonated against the sphinx statue, erupting into lava and flames that sent fiery ripples through the air. However, when the smoke cleared, the sphinx remained unscathed.
"What a pity. Guardian Sphinx also has 2400 DEF," Yu Xuan said with a smile. "The attack of Red-Eyes Black Dragon isn't enough to break through."
"Hmph," Dark Fubuki scoffed, his expression indifferent.
"In that case, I'll set a card and end my turn."
