Chapter 457: I'm Your Little Brother
Chapter 457: I'm Your Little Brother
After Connor arrived, she naturally joined the group.
Pushing their cart through the crowded tents, each of them donned some eye-catching items to attract attention.
Business was brisk.
During this time, Kyle also took the opportunity to ask Kliche about Regulus. However, he couldn't explain much, only managing to choke out that young master Regulus was gradually returning to his former self.
"It seems like he's getting better then," Kyle thought to himself.
...
The grounds were getting more and more crowded.
"A summer of hard work has finally paid off," Fred said with satisfaction as he wiped the sweat from his brow, looking at the half-empty box of fireworks.
By noon, the hungry group had pushed their cart to the edge of the grounds.
George poked his head out, looking around as he muttered, "Where is it... Lee Jordan said it was around here, didn't he?"
He was looking for the Weasley family's campsite.
In their haste earlier, they had forgotten to ask about the location of their tent. Fortunately, they had run into a Hogwarts classmate and Quidditch commentator, Lee Jordan.
He had told Fred that he had seen Harry and their sister in the woods by the grounds earlier.
And so, they had found their way here.
It was almost noon now, and they planned to continue after lunch.
"Oh, there..." Cedric suddenly pointed to a tent in the distance as Harry and Ron emerged from it, carrying a kettle.
On the other side of the tent was Mr. Weasley, fiddling with a pile of firewood.
"Oh... why has it gone out again? I'm sure that's how Hermione did it before," Mr. Weasley muttered, crouching down and blowing at the already extinguished firewood, his face smudged with soot.
"Dad, what are you doing?" Fred asked, confused. "Did you forget your wand at home?"
"Don't forget about the Statute of Secrecy," Mr. Weasley said as he stood up, rubbing his neck which had grown sore from craning his head.
"I think we'll have to wait a bit for lunch," George muttered from behind. "Dad's a bit too fond of that rule."
"Where have you lot been?" Mr. Weasley asked, not having heard him. "You took so long that I thought you'd gotten lost."
"We were just getting a feel for the World Cup atmosphere early," Fred replied. "The witches and wizards here are so passionate."
"Well, everyone's been looking forward to the World Cup..." Mr. Weasley said.
At that moment, he noticed the unfamiliar face behind Fred.
"You must be Connor, then," he said.
"Connor Prince!" Connor quickly introduced herself. "It's nice to meet you, Mr. Weasley."
"The pleasure is mine, dear," Mr. Weasley said. "Come on in, I've borrowed a large enough tent this time, so you can choose your own rooms.
However, lunch might have to wait a bit. I need to figure out how to... Oh my, who are you?"
Mr. Weasley turned around and was surprised to see a house-elf standing behind him, one he hadn't noticed before.
And the firewood he had been struggling with was now blazing brightly.
"Sorry, Mr. Weasley," Connor said. "This is Kliche. He's with me, and he didn't know about the Statute of Secrecy!"
"Well, it's alright..." Mr. Weasley said, looking a bit disappointed. "Our tent is at the back, so even if we use a bit of magic now and then, Mr. Roberts won't notice...
What a shame, I feel like I was just about to get the hang of using matches."
He had originally intended to cook a simple stew, but Kliche had already taken the initiative to pick up a spoon and was looking up at him expectantly.
Mr. Weasley felt a bit uncomfortable under the eager gaze and, for some reason, felt like he was taking away someone else's job. He unconsciously stepped aside to give Kliche room.
The house-elf naturally took over, tending to the stew pot.
"Well..."
Mr. Weasley retreated to the side, glancing at Connor, who seemed hesitant to speak. He took the initiative to address the slight awkwardness, "It's nice to have a house-elf help out from time to time... At least we won't go hungry before the game."
Evidently, he had a clear understanding of his own cooking skills.
Just then, the others who had gone to fetch water returned.
Percy, upon seeing Fred and George, immediately began reprimanding them for wandering off.
"You two are just adding more trouble for Dad," he said in a pretentious manner. "And you're affecting the work of others from the department. Keep it down, or if I find out you're up to your usual tricks, I'll..."
"Take points from us?" Fred said, feigning fear. "But we're not at Hogwarts anymore."
"And you're not the Head Boy anymore either," George added.
"Not even a prefect..."
The two brothers burst into laughter.
Bill, however, noticed the small cart that had been left aside.
He picked up a firework and tossed it into the air.
"Bang!"
The firework exploded, leaving a giant four-leaf clover floating in the sky.
"So, it was you guys..." He smiled, "My friend Baku told me he'd come across some interesting items, and they weren't expensive. But by the time I went to find him, you had already left."
At this, Fred's interest was piqued, "Do you need any? Two Sickles each, or ten for a Galleon."
"The last one's on us," George chimed in.
"What a bargain," Bill said, smiling as he took out a Galleon, "Thanks, I'll take the Irish team's fireworks."
Charlie, standing beside him, purchased some for the Bulgarian team.
Hearing the commotion outside, those who had been inside the tent emerged, curious, and soon gathered around the small cart.
"How much is this?" Ron asked, picking up a hat.
"One Galleon," Fred replied.
"That's expensive," Ron said, reaching into his pocket. "How much for me..."
"One Galleon."
Ron frowned, "I'm your little brother!"
"Oh." Fred and George exchanged a glance and simultaneously said, "Two Galleons!"
Ron was so annoyed that he threw the hat back onto the cart, causing everyone else to burst into laughter.
Harry struggled to keep a straight face, biting his lip to prevent himself from laughing out loud. Ron was his friend, after all, and he didn't want to seem too delighted by his friend's misfortune.
However, everyone else bought something.
Hermione and Ginny particularly liked the hair clips, Mr. Weasley got himself a Bulgarian hat, and Harry bought the most, taking a bit of everything except the clips, and then sharing half with Ron.
