Chapter 457: Hancock's Growth
Chapter 457: Hancock's Growth
"Yes, Lord Feng Ye!"
Onboard the Kuja Island ship, Hancock's sister, Sandersonia, and the others looked toward the naval ship, their faces lighting up with surprise as the cannonballs flew into the sky.
Hancock's eyes shone with delight as well. Seeing Feng Ye in that moment was like being enveloped in warm sunshine, leaving her momentarily tongue-tied and unable to respond coherently.
"..."
Feng Ye couldn't help but shake his head and chuckle at her reaction.
Hancock's allure was renowned for captivating both men and women alike. Even for him, if he didn't consciously resist, he would still be affected to some extent. However, his influence on Hancock seemed even greater, and it appeared that her adoration for him had reached its peak.
But upon further reflection, this was only natural. After all, he had destroyed the Holy Land of Mariejois, rescuing Hancock from there, and more importantly, his charm was no less impressive than Hancock's. No man could compare to him.
Hancock's beauty and allure were such that almost no man could remain unaffected, and most women were equally susceptible to his charm.
"He's even more handsome than in the photos..."
This was the first time Momousagi had laid eyes on Feng Ye.
She had been absent when he visited the Navy Headquarters, and their paths hadn't crossed since. At this moment, despite her nervousness, she couldn't help but think this.
After all, among Feng Ye's titles was not just the closest to a god and the most dangerous, but also the most handsome man in the seas.
In fact, even Garp acknowledged this description.
Who else in the vast seas could be more handsome than the man who single-handedly infiltrated the Holy Land of Mariejois, destroyed it, and sent most of the Celestial Dragons to hell? In comparison, his repeated refusals of promotions to the rank of admiral seemed trivial.
"The Kuja Pirates are under my command."
Feng Ye turned to Momousagi, not far away, and smiled casually. "So, could you ask your Navy friends to give us some space?"
A Navy colonel nearby heard this and clenched his fists, his forehead beaded with cold sweat. Nonetheless, he gritted his teeth and replied, "...Are you joking? The Navy can't possibly give way to pirates!"
But before he could finish his sentence, Momousagi sheathed her sword silently and ordered the ship, "All units, stand down!"
"Admiral Momousagi?!"
The nearby Navy personnel looked over in surprise.
However, Momousagi didn't offer any further explanation. She merely glanced at the Navy members, causing them to swallow their words, and quickly relayed the order.
As the ship halted its bombardment and the attack subsided, Momousagi breathed a sigh of relief and turned toward Feng Ye.
Her concession wasn't solely due to her fear of Feng Ye.
The World Government had issued a directive to avoid any conflict with the traveler and to unconditionally give way... This order was communicated only to Navy officers of the rank of commander and above.
Thus, her decision was influenced by both her obedience to the World Government's command and her genuine reluctance to clash with Feng Ye. She was well aware that his strength far exceeded her own, and like Garp's faction in the Navy, she also despised the Celestial Dragons.
"Thank you."
Feng Ye offered a polite smile to Momousagi.
Momousagi took a breath, glancing at Feng Ye and then at Hancock, who was gazing at him with infatuated eyes from a distance. She inwardly cursed, 'Fox spirit!'
There had been no previous mention of a connection between Feng Ye and Kuja Island, but it seemed that something had transpired between him and Empress Hancock.
Momousagi looked at Feng Ye once more, hesitating briefly before asking him a question.
As a vice admiral and a candidate for the position of fleet admiral, she was privy to almost as much information as Kizaru, and she knew that Feng Ye was someone capable of altering the course of the world with his mere concepts.
The future of the world could very well hinge on Feng Ye's whims.
"It will become what it ought to be."
Feng Ye took a step forward, heading in Hancock's direction, and replied with a faint smile, "Given the current situation, I don't foresee myself having any more significant influence on the future of this world. Unless, of course, the World Government decides to resume their pursuit and attempt to arrest me again."
Feng Ye chuckled as he finished speaking, then walked past Hancock and placed his hand on her shoulder.
Whoosh!
The two of them vanished into thin air.
Seeing Feng Ye disappear, Momousagi finally breathed a sigh of relief, the tension in her heart gradually dissipating. She then recalled Feng Ye's response and couldn't help but look out at the distant sea, murmuring,
"Indeed... that's befitting of the traveler's style..."
...
Onboard the Kuja Island ship.
Feng Ye and Hancock reappeared, materializing on top of the ship's cabin.
"Snake Princess!"
The many female warriors below immediately called out, and several of them stared at Feng Ye with apprehension, some even gripping their weapons tightly.
Feng Ye had only visited Kuja Island once before, when Hancock ascended to the throne, and he hadn't stayed long or made a public appearance, so some of the female warriors didn't recognize him.
"Put down your weapons."
Those who knew Feng Ye quickly knocked the weapons out of their companions' hands and looked at Feng Ye with a hint of reverence. "Don't be rude. Lord Feng Ye is the Snake Princess's benefactor and savior. He is also the strongest man in the world."
This statement caused the female warriors who didn't recognize Feng Ye to look at him with astonishment and awe.
The strongest man in the world?!
So, it was his power that had halted the cannonballs in midair and pulled them up into the sky, forcing the Navy to retreat!
The people of Kuja Island revered strength, and this included their view of men. Now that they were aware of Feng Ye's might, their gazes toward him took on a variety of nuanced meanings.
"What are you looking at?! Get back to work on the ship!"
Hancock, standing beside Feng Ye, noticed the stares and furrowed her brow, pointing a finger at the women and waving it dismissively.
"Yes!"
The female warriors jumped at her rebuke and quickly lowered their heads in response, hurrying to inspect the ship for any damage.
Feng Ye watched this scene with a smile, and said, "You've become quite assertive, Hancock."
"Y-yes..."
Hancock turned to Feng Ye, and the imperious aura of the Empress seemed to melt away. She looked at him with adoring eyes, her cheeks tinted with a charming blush, her voice as soft and gentle as spring water.
This fleeting transformation in her demeanor caused her allure and charm to peak momentarily due to the contrast, leaving even Feng Ye, who wasn't actively resisting, momentarily dazed. He couldn't help but sigh in admiration.
This was the allure of the grown-up Pirate Empress...
Indeed, she had surpassed him in this regard.
