Chapter 457: Dragon's Assault on the City
Boom!
Another thunderbolt struck, cleaving three or four Fire Giant Soldiers into wisps of flame.
“Lord of Flame…”
“This—”
As a native ruler of the Elemental Plane of Fire, and one of the elite among Elemental Beings, Fire Giants were few in number. Within the vast realm of the Fire Giant Sultanate, there were barely a hundred thousand Fire Giants, and just a thousand or so Malik—the noble Fire Titans.
But beyond them were countless slaves: Fire Dwarves, Fire Lizards, and other native creatures, alongside Human and beastfolk from extraplanar origins.
Thus, every Fire Giant counted as a true citizen—precious beyond measure.
Seeing his soldiers fall one after another, Machei’s face twisted in shock. He raised his curved blade toward the sky.
“Red Dragon! We’ve never provoked you! Why do you target us Fire Giants so mercilessly? Don’t you fear the wrath of the Great Sultan?”
From within the clouds, vast wings flickered in and out of sight, their pale golden eyes gleaming like distant stars.
“Fire Giants—”
“Blame your Great Sultan’s own Emir—Hamid Abdul.”
“He hunted my followers, slaughtered my soldiers, and even insulted me and my Empire to my face!”
“If Hamid truly represents the Will of the Great Sultan, then you Fire Titan Realm has declared war upon the Empire of Ashen!”
The thunderous voice echoed across Black Iron City, sending shivers down every Fire Giant’s spine.
“Hamid!”
“That damned fool!”
Machei spat in fury, trembling with rage. In his mind, Hamid had already been cast into an infinite infernal hell, tortured beyond imagination.
His arrogance was bad enough—but now he’d brought down this monstrous wrath upon their people!
But no matter what, the Great Sultan must not be disgraced. The honor of the Fire Giants must not be tarnished.
With renewed resolve, the Fire Titan Noble raised his blade once more.
“Red Dragon! There’s still room for negotiation!”
“If you surrender now, I’ll petition the Great Sultan to cease hostilities with your Empire!”
“You?”
A sudden crack split the air. Then—Boom!
A massive shadow descended from the heavens, landing with crushing force upon the Metallic Wall.
Boom!
“Lord of Flame!”
“Help! It’s falling!”
“That’s a Soul-Eating Dragon!”
Metal groaned as spines scraped against metal. The city wall buckled inward, iron shavings and debris spraying in all directions.
The Red Dragon strolled across the wall like a casual wanderer, its massive body grinding down any Fire Giant Soldier in its path.
Its thick tail swung like a warhammer—just one flick sent a dozen Fire Giants screaming through the air, limbs torn and bodies broken.
“No—!”
“Lord of Flame! What strength is this?”
Its claws slashed through the air, their claw-shaped force fields carving chaotic patterns across the wall.
Shhhhk—
Another screech of metal. A trio of Fire Giant Soldiers, along with their copper shields, were cleanly severed in half.
Deep, jagged claw marks scarred the wall—wounds like open sores.
This was the Red Dragon’s strength. To call them “War Machines” was no empty boast.
And Kai Xiusu—now wielding the Primordial Dragon Form and a vast arsenal of spells—was even more terrifying.
Slowly, Kai Xiusu opened his maw. The Dragon Crystal at his chest pulsed with a fierce, radiant light.
From his mouth burst a torrent of searing heat—intense, magical, and utterly devastating.
Boom—
Dragonfire engulfed the surroundings, consuming fleeing Fire Giants. The black iron city wall began to melt, oozing molten iron like dark tears.
“Now! Strike while you can!”
“Kill it!”
“Aim for the chest! Target its heart!”
Machei waved his blade, shouting frantically.
From his years of military experience, he knew: the Heavy Trebuchet was the best weapon against such a colossal beast.
Though their strength was unmatched—capable of crushing anything—these giants were slow, predictable, and easy prey.
“Move! Follow the Emir’s orders!”
“Do you want to live? If we don’t kill this dragon, we’re all dead!”
On the Metallic Wall, Fire Giant officers roared, urging their troops as the Red Dragon advanced—calm, relentless, slaughtering without pause.
Several Fire Giant Soldiers loaded massive bolts, strained every muscle turning the crank, and swiveled the trebuchet into position.
“Fire!”
“Kill it!”
The weapon, forged by Fire Dwarves, unleashed a terrifying surge of fire elemental energy—flames roaring from its barrel.
The three-meter-long arrow, trailing fire, streaked through the air like a comet.
Whoosh—
The Fire Giants held their breath.
Boom—
A shockwave slammed into the wall, forcing it inward once more.
The Red Dragon lunged forward, its foot striking the wall with impossible force—then leapt into the sky, soaring upward with astonishing speed.
“What?!”
“How is this possible?!”
The Fire Giants gasped, eyes wide, necks craned upward.
In just a few breaths, the Red Dragon had risen a hundred meters.
Kai Xiusu unfurled his wings high above, flames erupting from his back like a blazing aurora. His body became a crimson blur, a streak of destruction.
Boom!
Another shockwave tore through the air.
The Red Dragon dove—Boom!—crashing back onto the ground, crushing Fire Giant Soldiers and the trebuchets beneath it into pulp.
Fragments of arrows and spears flew toward him—but before they could touch his hide, invisible energy scales deflected them, sending them flying off like pebbles.
Smoke filled the air. From the haze, the Red Dragon’s colossal form slowly emerged.
The Fire Giants, once so arrogant, now trembled. They prayed to the Lord of Flame, retreating step by step—afraid of being devoured.
Their curved blades fell from their hands, clattering to the ground with sharp, hollow clangs.
“Fire Giants,” Kai Xiusu said, his voice calm, “you still haven’t grasped your true status.”
“I told you—you don’t have the standing to negotiate.”
“Die!”
“For the Great Sultan!”
Suddenly, a bloodcurdling war cry echoed behind the Red Dragon.
Mai Che, riding a Flame Wyvern, plunged downward. He swung his blade with all his might—aiming straight for the Red Dragon’s thick neck.
Kai Xiusu turned his head, expression blank.
Clang!
The sound of metal meeting metal rang out.
The blade struck the Red Dragon’s scales—then shattered, flying into fragments midair.
Mai Che’s arm numbed instantly. His face twisted in shock.
That was a blade granted by the Great Sultan himself—equal in strength to rare, legendary gear!
He didn’t know that Kai Xiusu’s scales were literally forged from wealth.
For years, the Red Dragon had consumed tens of thousands of gold coins. Its gilded scales had reached peak refinement—each scale harder than any rare armor.
Kai Xiusu stared at the Fire Titan Noble, floating in midair, and asked softly:
“Where does your confidence come from?”
A massive claw shot forward, tearing through the air. The rare Flame Wyvern was dragged into the Egg of Protection, a pocket dimension.
Machei desperately leapt into the air, trying to escape—but his lower body turned to smoke and ash.
Before he could react, a dark shadow swooped down.
The Red Dragon seized him in its claw—immobile, powerless.
Machei struggled with every ounce of strength, roaring at the top of his lungs:
“You kill me, and the Great Sultan will never forgive you! I am his loyal guard! A noble Capkuru!”
Kai Xiusu sighed, shaking his head with regret.
“Hmm… I was actually hoping to ask you for three wishes—one to grant my curiosity after years of waiting.”
“Now it seems I’ll have to save that for another time.”
A surge of Dragon Flame surged up his arm, coiling around the claw. Fire closed in, wrapping around the massive Fire Titan Noble—consuming him, swallowing him whole.
