Chapter 457: Be My Partner?
Chapter 457: Be My Partner?
As expected, the guild was in disarray. Countless chairs and tables on the first floor were toppled, with people scattered in groups here and there, most lying down and a few standing.
The second floor was slightly better, with many leaning over the railing to watch the commotion. Upon seeing the Guild Master stop, they lost interest and returned to their drinks.
Wendy had been trying to imagine how beautiful it would be inside, but she could only awkwardly comment, "It's exactly the same as before."
Shaluna agreed, "In a way, it's almost identical."
Lucy sighed, "Although I want to say something good about the guild, this is the usual state of affairs now."
Upon returning, Erza immediately assumed her role as a Discipline Committee member:
"You're causing trouble for the Guild Master again. Get up and restore the first floor to its original state! Macao, Wakaba, Nab, you take care of that side. Bigitta, Marcus, you handle this side... Really, it's back to this after just a few days!"
She naturally started assigning tasks, and her scolding and complaints didn't cease.
Wendy said timidly, "Miss Erza is so strict."
Mira smiled and reassured her, "It's okay, she'll relax her standards soon enough."
"Gray!" Juvia rushed towards Gray with teary eyes, "Have you been flirting with other girls? Did Lucy do something to you?"
Gray dodged to the side, "Don't suddenly come so close..."
Lucy muttered innocently, "Why am I being brought into this?"
Lucy wanted to distance herself from this troublesome place, but Juvia's tears formed a river, sweeping Lucy, Gray, Happy, and Natsu, who was knocked down, out of the guild's front door.
"Ahhh..." Lucy cried helplessly, "Who will stop her?"
Happy was helplessly swept away, "Help~~~!"
"Hey, hey..." Without using magic, even Gray could only go with the flow.
Loud immediately pulled Mira, Wendy, and Shaluna away, reminding them, "Guild Master, let's take care of the most important matter first, shall we?"
Makarov was taken aback, "Huh? How did you know I was in a hurry to write a self-criticism?"
Shaluna couldn't help but speak up, "Normal people are truly a rare species in this guild."
Wendy quickly whispered, "Shaluna, that's impolite."
Loud was also taken aback, "You have to write another self-criticism?"
It made sense; after all, the Council of Judges had resumed operations. Perhaps the complaints and issues caused by the problem children over the past two months were finally being addressed.
"Ahem, ahem..." Makarov coughed twice to hide his embarrassment and skipped the topic, "Wendy and Shaluna are here to play, welcome, welcome."
Mira said, "No, they didn't come to play. Wendy and Shaluna want to join our guild."
"Join?" Makarov confirmed, "You want to join Fairy Tail?"
"Yes!" Wendy nodded immediately, but she also looked at him with some apprehension, "Is that okay?"
"Of course," Makarov's face lit up with a smile, "Follow me."
Makarov took out the magic stamp directly from behind the counter and handed the register to Loud.
He asked with a smile, "Where do you want the emblem placed? What color do you prefer?"
Shaluna was surprised, "Not even asking why?"
Such a familiar question, Mira smiled at Loud.
Loud laughed and said, "That's how Fairy Tail is. That kind of thing can be discussed later, or not at all if you prefer."
Wendy chose the same blue as before and had it stamped on her right arm, while Shaluna picked the same pink as before, stamping it on her back.
Loud wrote down the names 'Wendy Marvell' and 'Shaluna' and recorded the date.
With that, Wendy and Shaluna officially joined Fairy Tail.
After finishing everything, Makarov shouted, "Let's welcome Wendy and Shaluna to Fairy Tail!"
The chaotic guild quieted down for a moment, then erupted into enthusiastic cheers.
Wendy greeted everyone shyly and politely.
Shaluna forced a smile but quickly put on an indifferent expression.
Whether it was Wendy's cute and well-behaved demeanor or Shaluna's tsundere attitude, they both quickly gained the affection of many.
With the introduction of Wendy and her Sky Dragon Slayer Magic, the atmosphere became even more lively, as many were already familiar with her.
In everyone's eyes, the ability to use Dragon Slayer Magic represented strength, thanks to the examples of Natsu, Gajeel, and Laxus.
The fact that such a cute little girl possessed such powerful magic made the guild even stronger, and everyone was delighted.
Only then did Wendy's heart, filled with unease, finally settle. She was thrilled to be accepted so quickly.
"Since it's like this, let's have a celebration today!" Makarov, who didn't want to write a self-criticism today, shouted, "To celebrate the victory in the Six Demon Generals' Extermination Battle and to welcome Wendy and Shaluna to our guild!"
"Oooohhhh!!!"
The proposal for a celebration was rarely vetoed, especially on a day of double joy. The already lively guild became even more boisterous.
If there was anyone in the guild who wasn't happy, it was Gajeel, who was keeping an eye on Natsu and Wendy from the second floor.
Natsu, the Fire Dragon Slayer, had a flying blue cat.
Wendy, the Sky Dragon Slayer, had a flying white cat.
But Gajeel, the Iron Dragon Slayer, had no cat!
This realization hit him like a thunderbolt, leaving him so disheartened that he didn't even feel like singing rock during the lively celebration.
Gajeel had, of course, thought of Laxus, but he already knew from Ivan that Laxus had only implanted a Thunder Dragon Slayer Magic Crystal in his body and wasn't raised by a dragon.
In other words, among the true Dragon Slayers, only Gajeel was the odd one out.
Where had these peculiar cats come from? Had Metalicana, the Iron Dragon, kept something from him?
Gajeel, known for his tough demeanor, had always yearned to fit in with the guild.
But today, he suddenly realized that he couldn't blend in, not just with the guild but even among the Dragon Slayers.
He broke into a cold sweat.
Regardless, he had to find a flying, talking cat as soon as possible!
As expected, the celebration went on late into the night.
Wendy greeted many members of the guild, and although she couldn't remember everyone's names, she got a general impression and felt that everyone was kind.
Shaluna, on the other hand, found that the people in the guild matched her imagination—there were many odd characters.
Loke poured two glasses of juice and handed them to Wendy and Shaluna, asking with a smile, "Is it too noisy?"
One nodded decisively, while the other shook her head with a smile.
"Shaluna~" Wendy called out with a hint of annoyance, but knowing her, she didn't truly dislike the place.
"These people are like this. It'll get even more lively soon, and you'll have to be careful of various flying objects."
Wendy replied awkwardly, "I don't know why, but I feel like I can imagine what's going to happen."
Perhaps it was because she had witnessed Gray and Natsu's fights over the past few days, and the chaotic state of the guild when she first arrived.
Holding her cup, Wendy looked around and asked cautiously, "Isn't Jellal... Mystogan not here?"
"He rarely shows up at the guild. Even if he does come, he puts everyone to sleep, wears a headscarf and a mask, and remains mysterious."
Loke now understood Mystogan a little better. It was troublesome, whether he looked like the Council Chairman or a dangerous criminal.
Covering his face was indeed more convenient... Hopefully, one day he would open up to his companions.
"Does Wendy want to meet him?" Loke teased, noticing Wendy's disappointed expression. "I've always had a plan to put him in a sack and beat him up. Want to join me?"
Wendy weakly replied, "You don't have to go that far..."
"By the way, there's a special exam in a little over a month, and Mystogan should be there as an examiner. You'll get to see him then."
Loke said, "Wendy might not be able to take the exam, but she can be a partner for the candidates. So... how about being my partner?"
