Chapter 455: How Did I, a Little Wizard, Become a Third of the King of Diagon Alley?
Chapter 455: How Did I, a Little Wizard, Become a Third of the King of Diagon Alley?
Dumbledore paid no attention to the bewildered Ron.
The only reason he brought Ron along was because he was Scabbers' owner. All Ron needed to do at the Wizengamot was to acknowledge this fact.
"Professor Dumbledore, how are we going to get to the Wizengamot? Are we taking a carriage? It's quite late now", Harry noticed the clock on the wall of the Great Hall and said with some urgency.
"No, that's not necessary. Just hold hands, and I'll take you there!" Dumbledore extended his left hand and held Harry's.
Harry nodded and grabbed Ron's hand, followed by Ivan and Hermione.
The five of them formed a circle. Hermione tried to reach for Dumbledore's other hand to complete the circle, but he didn't respond.
"Where's Sirius? Isn't he coming with us?" Harry looked around but didn't see Sirius, feeling a bit puzzled.
"He and Peter have already been taken to the Ministry of Magic by the Aurors. They're not coming with us", Dumbledore explained, then looked out the window. A Phoenix flew directly toward him and perched on his shoulder.
With a melodious song, golden-red flames rose from Fawkes and quickly spread to everyone, turning the four of them into torches.
Hermione was startled and tightly gripped Ivan's hand, but she soon realized that the flames wouldn't hurt them. The warmth was actually quite comforting.
Fawkes' song grew louder, and the flames around them expanded.
Hermione felt a dizzying sensation, and when she regained her senses, they were in an abandoned street.
"Is this London?!" Hermione looked around at the tall buildings and said with certainty.
"Right! The Ministry of Magic's headquarters is in London! That's why we're here!" Ron showed off his limited knowledge.
His father worked at the Ministry, and although Ron had never been there, he knew a bit about it.
"Of course I know! Many books mention the location of the Ministry of Magic. They disguise the entrance as a Phone Booth. Outsiders have to come here and apply to enter the Ministry."
Hermione rambled on, stating that the location of the Ministry of Magic's headquarters was common knowledge in the wizarding world.
Harry looked puzzled. Was this common knowledge? Why didn't he know?
Ron, silenced by Hermione, tried to argue that he knew more about the Ministry from other aspects.
"Stop for a moment, children. We don't have much time, so it's best to talk while we walk!" Considering the trial was about to start, Dumbledore had to interrupt their conversation.
Fawkes, perched on his shoulder, looked a bit tired and closed its eyes to rest, clearly exhausted from the long-distance teleportation with five people.
Hermione stopped her argument with Ron and noticed she was still holding Ivan's hand. She quickly let go.
She then glanced at Ivan's face, relieved to see that he hadn't noticed, but also felt a bit irritated.
Ivan, however, was lost in thought, focusing on the changes in his system task bar.
Task: Become the King of Diagon Alley
Task Objective: Unify Diagon Alley (Second Ring)
Task Progress: Thirty-two percent
Task Reward: Fidelius Charm
Task Description:
Seeing the thirty-two percent task progress notification, Ivan was utterly confused.
He had noticed the anomaly in the task bar a couple of days ago, keenly aware that the progress of the Diagon Alley King task seemed to have secretly increased significantly. He remembered that it wasn't that high before.
Was it because the Werewolf Wizards like Fenrir and Walker had suddenly become more loyal to him, or was it due to the chain reaction from dealing with Burke?
Ivan was very puzzled. He had spent the past year diligently studying at Hogwarts without causing any trouble, so how did he suddenly become a third of the Diagon Alley King?
It was precisely because of this that Ivan agreed to postpone his meeting with Nicolas Flamel. He needed to go home during the summer break to figure out what was going on.
While thinking about this, Ivan followed Dumbledore through the phone booth into the Ministry of Magic.
Hermione and Ron, who had been arguing about how well they knew the Ministry of Magic, were immediately captivated by the grand and magnificent decorations inside.
The enormous and magnificent magical fountain, the fireplaces with golden trim, and the towering magical flames and exquisite magical lamps complemented each other perfectly.
This blend of magic and modernity captivated every wizard who stepped inside for the first time.
Harry was also pleasantly surprised, his gaze sweeping around the room.
"Ivan, have you been here before?" Hermione noticed that Ivan's face showed no surprise, as if he was very familiar with the place.
"Over a year ago, I came here because of some matters!" Ivan replied briefly.
"It was because of the Wolfsbane Potion, right? You must have come here to register the patent", Hermione thought for a moment and quickly guessed the reason for Ivan's visit.
Ivan nodded; the young witch's guess wasn't far off.
Under Dumbledore's lead, Ivan and the others registered at the front desk and then took the magical elevator down to the basement. After passing through several corridors, they finally saw the Black door of the courtroom.
The waiting room nearby faintly echoed with intermittent cries and shouts.
"Please, let him go."
"He is innocent; you can't convict him just because of a mark."
Ivan was quite puzzled and took a closer look as they approached.
The waiting room was spacious, with many people inside. Most of them were Aurors, and a few were wizards dressed in the same robes as Dumbledore, likely members of the Wizengamot.
Notably, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew were also there.
"Sirius!" Harry, extremely excited, tried to get closer but was stopped by several Aurors a few meters away. They had to converse from a distance.
After a few days, Sirius looked relatively well, but in comparison, Peter Pettigrew appeared in much worse condition.
Peter seemed to have lost a lot of weight, his sparse hair tangled messily, and his eyes deeply sunken, nervously darting around, looking somewhat deranged.
Ivan was not surprised. Before leaving the Astronomy Tower, he had instructed the Dementors not to harass Sirius, but he didn't care what happened to Peter.
After staring at Peter for a while, Ivan's gaze shifted to the side, where the crying sounds were coming from.
