Chapter 455: Even a Fly's Gender Must Be Known
Chapter 455: Even a Fly's Gender Must Be Known
"Kuromr.…"
Kas stared at the Sky where only scattered clouds remained, murmuring, "Rare to see that expression."
"You've seen it before?" Klah asked.
Kas nodded. "Back when we were still in East Blue, I witnessed it once. At the time, Kuromr. was a Petty Officer First Class, and I was just a Seaman Recruit."
He recalled, "It must have been six years ago. A pirate crew raided a town, slaughtering everyone. When we arrived, only a dying boy managed to whisper his last words. That’s when Kuromr.’s expression changed."
"What happened next?" Klah pressed.
"Who knows?" Kas shrugged. "The pirate crew had already fled, but Kuromr. took a few days’ leave after reaching the island. He didn’t return to normal until he came back. After that, we never heard of that pirate crew again."
Lida and Klah both twitched their lips. Need to ask? Obviously, they were frozen into Aokiji’s Ice Age.
"But that version of Kuromr. was terrifying. I was so scared just seeing him back then. Looking back now, that must’ve been the aura of a strong man’s might!"
Kas gazed at the Sky with admiration, clenching his fist. "Unforgivable!! To fail fighting side by side with Kuromr.—this is Kas’ greatest humiliation! Kuromr., I’ll definitely catch up to your footsteps soon, to shield you from every danger behind!"
"Count me in too!"
Wilbur, stirred by Kas’ words, roared, "I’ll also clear every obstacle before Vice Admiral Kuro!"
"Wilbur!"
"Kas!"
The two burly men locked eyes, sparks of passion igniting between them.
"Let’s focus on Kuromr.’s command first", Klah adjusted his glasses. "I’d rather not come back to his wrathful face."
...
Shabondy.
Inside a certain tavern.
"Officer Sazil!"
Mark rubbed his hands together, his face twisted into a fawning smile as he approached Sazil, who sat drinking and eating. "Thanks to your grace, Shabondy’s underworld has been cleaned up. This is a small token of appreciation—please accept it."
He nodded to his subordinate, who bowed and placed a suitcase on the table. It snapped open, revealing stacks of Beri.
Sazil didn’t even glance at it. He twirled a forkful of noodles with shrimp into his mouth, chewing slowly. "Where’d this come from?"
"Don’t worry, no protection fees were forcibly collected. I’m a smuggler by trade, not a collector. This is all from subduing rebellious black gangs. Officer Sazil, you’ve worked hard lately—this is just your due reward." Mark’s head bowed even lower.
Without this Navy officer, unifying Shabondy’s underworld would’ve taken far more effort.
Though the strongest gangs had been hanged or executed, the remaining ones weren’t easy prey. But this Navy officer handled them all.
With just one punch per gang, he cleared the stubborn ones. The spineless leftovers surrendered instantly upon hearing Lucius Kro’s name.
That name might not carry weight elsewhere, but in Shabondy, it eclipsed even the World Nobles!
"Hmph."
Sazil quickly devoured the rest of his noodles, took a few gulps of wine, and snapped the suitcase shut. "Well done. Since your task is complete, I’ll be off. Earlier, I was even wondering if I should replace you if you hadn’t finished soon."
"No need, no need! I’ve done it perfectly, haven’t I?" Mark wiped sweat from his brow, laughing nervously.
Replace me? Replace my life!
If this Navy officer deemed him unfit, his only path would be death.
Thankfully, he’d succeeded.
The reward? Total control over Shabondy’s underworld.
Something no one had ever achieved before!
The profits weren’t as good as before, but ruling Shabondy was still a prize.
Even if they called him Lucius Kro’s dog, he didn’t care.
"Being Lucius Kro’s dog is my honor!" he’d proudly retort whenever hearing such taunts.
"Keep up the good work. I’m leaving."
Sazil gave him a haughty glance, stood, and grabbed the suitcase to head out.
"Sazil!"
Suddenly, the door swung open. A figure in a Navy hooded cloak entered, wearing a black dress uniform, glasses, and a cold gaze.
The arrogant Sazil stiffened, stammering, "K-Klahmr.?!"
"Commander Klah, you’ve come here to—"
Mark rubbed his hands, stepping forward, but his words died when Klah shot him a frigid glare. Mark froze, cold sweat pouring down.
Sazil’s heart raced even faster.
Klah called me ‘Sazil’? Not ‘Kuro’—this means he’s furious!
Had he failed in his duties?
Sazil hastily dropped the suitcase, snapping to attention. "Report! I didn’t accept bribes! This was forced on me—I was just keeping it as evidence!"
"Officer Sazil?!" Mark’s eyes widened in shock.
"Silence! It was your attempt to bribe me that I was about to report!" Sazil glared.
"Who asked about that?" Klah cut in coldly. "Sazil, mobilize these black gangs. Coordinate with the Navy to notify every household—no one leaves until the Navy lifts the lockdown. Gather all tourists, from eighty-year-old elders to three-year-olds. Check every identity. Even a fly’s gender must be known!"
"Understood!"
Sazil instinctively replied, then hesitated. "Mr. Klah, what’s happened?"
Only now did he notice bloodstains on Klah’s uniform.
"What’s happened?" Klah adjusted his glasses, the lenses flashing a cold gleam. "We were attacked. Kuromr. is enraged. Believe me, you don’t want to see his wrathful face. Even I, after all these years by his side, have never seen him this furious."
And he’d been lucky to escape. If he’d stayed, Klah’s stress would’ve shattered the sky.
Still, he had to act.
If Shabondy still harbored assassins, and Kuromr. caught wind of another killing intent… others might not know, but he’d be flayed alive.
"Gather and detain all unidentified individuals!" Klah’s voice dripped with killing intent. "As for those black gangs or fledgling pirates clinging to ‘freedom’—execute them on sight. No reports, no hesitation. Shabondy demands absolute safety!"
