Chapter 455: Contract Vision (Second Update)
Chapter 455: Contract Vision (Second Update)
On the top floor of Stark Tower.
Tony and Steve, along with others, looked at the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver standing behind Jerry, and asked in confusion:
"Jerry, what's going on here? Who are they?"
"They've turned over a new leaf!"
Jerry placed the regeneration cradle containing Vision and briefly recounted what had happened in Zhaohelen's Experiment Room.
While everyone still harbored some resentment over the siblings' past actions in helping Ultron against them, they recalled the tragic backstories of the two and felt more forgiving.
Of course, complete trust would take time and depend on their future behavior.
"Dr. Banner can degenerate the tissues of this body, and I can remove the control program in its brain. You two can rest for now; we'll handle the rest."
Tony glanced at the vibranium body in the regeneration cradle, his eyes flickering, then turned to smile at everyone.
Just as everyone was about to nod in agreement, the Scarlet Witch stepped forward:
"We can't leave it to him; he'll just mess everything up!"
"I know about your past, but Stark isn't a madman."
Captain America immediately stepped forward to defend Tony.
Everyone knew that the Scarlet Witch's parents were killed by missiles manufactured by Stark Industries. However, this was due to Obadiah Stane, who was running the company at the time, selling weapons to armed terrorist organizations for profit.
Tony was initially unaware of these actions, and after becoming Iron Man, he cut off the company's weapons business and shifted focus to energy.
So, everyone believed that the Scarlet Witch's current stance was simply due to her lack of understanding of Tony's true character and her bias against him.
"Ultron doesn't understand the difference between saving the world and destroying it. Do you think it learned that from someone?"
The Scarlet Witch's single sentence left everyone speechless.
Jerry smiled, then turned to Tony and said:
"Tony, I know you don't want to destroy this body. Don't deny it; you should know that I can read minds.
However, I believe you have your reasons. Why don't you be honest and share them with us, so we can discuss whether it's feasible?"
Tony glanced around the room, realizing he couldn't avoid being honest anymore, and sighed deeply:
"Indeed, I don't plan to destroy this body. I want to use it to completely eliminate Ultron."
"What? You want to create another robot? Can't you stop playing with things you can't control? One Ultron wasn't bad enough?"
Hearing Tony's words, the hot-tempered Thor immediately stormed towards Tony, intending to teach him a lesson.
However, before he could take a few steps, his feet were entangled by shadows, immobilizing him.
"Thor, calm down. Let Tony finish what he has to say!"
It was Jerry using his shadow magic to stop him.
"You see, I knew you'd react like this. Alright, I want to ask you something. Do you know why Ultron can move through the internet but can't control the missiles and nuclear launches of various countries?"
Tony raised his hand, looking somewhat exasperated.
Nick Fury stepped forward:
"According to our investigation, an unknown department seems to be continuously changing the passwords for these missiles, making it impossible for Ultron to gain control!"
"Unknown department, our allies?"
Black Widow asked.
"They are Ultron's enemies, but not necessarily our allies!"
Nick Fury shook his head.
At this moment, Tony pressed a button and said:
"They are our allies because he is my AI butler, Jarvis!"
"Good evening, everyone!"
A yellow spherical shape, composed of virtual data, appeared above them.
"Jarvis's internal operational matrix has now surpassed Ultron. If we implant it into this vibranium body, we will have a powerful ally capable of completely expelling Ultron from the internet and eradicating him. Moreover, it won't have Ultron's bloodthirsty tendencies."
Seeing that everyone was still hesitant, Tony continued to persuade them:
"Ego, Thanos, the alien army, enhanced beings, and terrorists—Earth is constantly under threat. We need a powerful ally, and this vibranium and Mind Stone-forged body, paired with Jarvis's program, will be our greatest asset!"
"But, Tony, can you guarantee that Jarvis, once integrated into this body, will definitely help us and not turn into another Ultron?"
Nick Fury, the former S.H.I.E.L.D. director, voiced the concern on everyone's mind.
After a two-second pause, Tony replied:
"I can't guarantee it with absolute certainty, but based on the current algorithms, it should be fine!"
The current Jarvis is no longer the simple AI system it once was. It has incorporated the efforts of himself and Dr. Banner over the years, as well as alien technology, Hydra technology, and some of the consciousness streams generated during Ultron's creation. In many ways, it is almost indistinguishable from a real person.
"You are too arrogant. According to Jerry's explanation, the Mind Stone contains boundless cosmic energy. You don't understand it, so how can you ensure that the integration won't go wrong and create another Ultron spawn?"
Thor remained opposed.
He didn't understand the scientific principles; his thinking was straightforward. Since Tony had created Ultron, which he couldn't control, he could just as easily create another uncontrollable Ultron spawn.
Tony's logical explanations swayed some, but most still sided with Thor.
Rationally, destroying the current vibranium body would allow them to focus solely on defeating Ultron. Following Tony's plan might give them a powerful ally, but it could also result in a powerful enemy. They weren't at the point of desperation yet, so there was no need to take such a risk.
Moreover, Tony's credibility was low after creating Ultron. Without the Ultron incident, most people, except for the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, would probably have trusted him.
Seeing the situation, Tony sighed in frustration.
He had expected this outcome, which was why he had planned to work with Dr. Banner secretly.
However, just as Tony thought the matter was settled, Jerry, who had remained silent, spoke up.
"Actually, I agree with Tony. We haven't found a way to completely eliminate Ultron yet. Even if we destroy all of his robot clones, as long as the internet exists, he can always come back.
Of course, Thor, don't worry. I understand your concerns about the possibility of creating an Ultron spawn, but rest assured, I can solve this problem!"
