Chapter 452: Persuading Chancellor Cao (Make-up Update 113)
Chapter 452: Persuading Chancellor Cao (Make-up Update 113)
"Let's not rush into conditions just yet. I have something to show you first," Plante said with a slight smile.
He activated his mech, and laser beams shot out from the chest, hands, arms, and legs, forming lines in the sky. These lines eventually created a massive 50-meter-long scroll.
Chancellor Cao focused his gaze on it.
The lines in the scroll were very familiar, depicting the world map of Blue Star. However, there were many elliptical circles on the map, resembling magnetic field lines but not overlapping with them. It was unclear what they represented.
"What's the significance of this map?" Chancellor Cao asked.
"This is our ongoing 'Gravity Funnel Project,'" Plante replied. "Let me explain what a 'Gravity Funnel' is."
Plante then detailed the composition, function, operation, and effects of the Gravity Funnel without holding back.
As he listened, Chancellor Cao's face grew darker and darker.
His right hand, gripping the hilt of his sword, trembled slightly. "What are you planning to do with this?!"
"We don't intend to do anything drastic. Please don't get worked up," Plante said in a polite tone, but his expression was provocative as he raised an eyebrow at Chancellor Cao.
"The Gravity Funnel is already complete. Once we have manufactured 3,729 monsters, we will release them all at the same point on Blue Star."
"If you join us, I'll send these monsters to other countries. If you refuse, I'll have no choice but to drop them on major cities in your country. Don't say we didn't warn you."
"You!" Chancellor Cao was furious.
Although his dynasty had been usurped by the Sima family, his descendants and his civilization still lived on this land.
Moreover, the people in the west were unreliable. Some of them pretended to be loyal to the Blue Star government while secretly sending envoys to the Skrull base to negotiate, trying to hedge their bets. (Plante had shown him similar videos over the past few days to mock him, so he was aware of these actions.)
His country had a young and capable leader, Su Yu, and all the ancient greats had gathered there, making it the greatest hope for humanity on Blue Star!
How could he allow his country's land to be ravaged by over 3,000 monsters at this critical moment?
"Do you think I won't blow myself up and melt this glacier?" Chancellor Cao glared and raised his sword, blue rune energy radiating from it.
For a moment, the solid ice layer shattered, causing the ground to shake.
At this point, the Renkte Alliance's god-tier being, Queen Victoria, flew forward a few dozen meters and interjected, "Mr. Cao, please calm down. We are indeed afraid of you self-destructing. If we weren't worried about that, we wouldn't have wasted so much time here and would have killed you long ago!"
Chancellor Cao remained silent, staring at her coldly.
Victoria met his gaze and continued, "All we ask is that you join us. You won't have to do much after joining, just ensure you don't cause trouble when we have the upper hand."
"Once we successfully occupy Blue Star, we can set aside a reservation for your country. Your people won't need to relocate; they can stay on their own land. However, we will construct isolation barriers at the borders, and the rest of the territory will belong to us."
"Your presence will prevent us from taking any extreme actions against the people you protect and the land you govern. After all, you are a god-tier being like us, and we won't be foolish enough to attack you."
"Additionally, we will have opportunities for cooperation in the future. Our Skrull planet has just joined the interstellar community and needs to help the Holy Silver Federation acquire more resources and conquer more planets to gain their favor."
"Once we form an alliance, we can venture into other worlds to conquer and claim territories. With enough territory, it might even be possible to return the entire Blue Planet to you."
"I’ve said all I need to say. The decision is now in your hands. I hope you’ll see the wisdom in joining us."
Victoria paused, hovering in the sky as she looked down at Chancellor Cao, waiting for his response.
Chancellor Cao was at a loss for words for a moment.
From the tone of Victoria’s voice, it seemed she was quite serious. Could the Skrulls really have such plans?
But Chancellor Cao knew better than to capitulate. If he did, the morale of the Blue Planet’s humans would plummet, and they would face certain defeat on the battlefield.
If the Skrulls then betrayed them, humanity would be doomed to an endless cycle of suffering.
How should he respond?
Chancellor Cao fell into deep thought.
The five divine-level beings, including Plante, were not in a hurry. They remained quietly suspended in the air.
After careful consideration of the pros and cons, Chancellor Cao looked up at the five divine-level beings and said earnestly, "Alright, I agree to join you."
He had made his decision.
The most important thing now was to preserve hope.
The nation of Huaxia could not possibly withstand the attack of 3,729 monsters. Even if they managed to repel them, they would be severely weakened.
Preserving Huaxia was about preserving hope for the humans of the Blue Planet!
Moreover, by joining the Skrulls, he could gain insight into their internal affairs.
If things went south, he could always renege before the final battle. What were a few reputational points worth?
In summary, he decided to join the Skrulls and take it one step at a time.
"Excellent, welcome aboard!" Plante flew over to Chancellor Cao, arms outstretched as if to give him a warm embrace.
Chancellor Cao, however, tensed up and used his sword hilt to draw a circle with a 10-meter radius on the ground, keeping Plante at bay.
Thirteenth Emperor Manina, watching the live broadcast, smiled. "I didn’t expect it to go so smoothly. I thought it would drag on for a while!"
Intelligence Minister Zyon asked flatteringly, "But, Your Majesty, are you not afraid that this human named Cao might betray us at the last moment?"
"Not at all, haven’t I told you? By the time he does, his value to us will have been fully extracted." Manina waved his hand dismissively. "Moreover, once he witnesses our true strength, his desire to betray will wane. This is a matter of absolute confidence in our power."
"Alright, then." Manina stood up and said to Zyon, "Have Li Hua, the Skrull-captured and brainwashed translator, translate the entire process into Chinese and send the footage to the Blue Planet. We want all the humans to see it!"
"Understood!" Zyon replied immediately.
But then Zyon seemed to recall something and asked, "Your Majesty, according to reliable intelligence, the third prince of the Makaton Kingdom has ascended to the sixth-stage Holy Domain and is planning a coup to seize power. Should we intervene?"
"Makaton Kingdom." Manina furrowed his brow. "Let them be. Right now, we need to focus our main efforts on Cao and Su Yu."
In the past, Manina might have been more concerned about the internal affairs of neighboring small countries.
Now, he had no such luxury. These small nations could do as they pleased, as long as they remained under imperial control.
