Chapter 452: Giant's Wish Granting
Hearing Kai Xiusu’s question, Hamid, trapped in the giant’s claw, trembled violently. He stammered out, voice trembling with fear:
"You… you can't kill me!"
"Why not?" Kai Xiusu asked, his tone cool and mocking.
"I am an Emir appointed by the Great Sultan of the City of Brass! If you kill me… you’ll be declaring war on the entire Fire Giant Empire!"
The Fire Titan noble tried to project an aura of authority, but his eyes betrayed raw terror.
Kai Xiusu burst into laughter.
"Haha… In this situation, do you really think your Great Sultan—someone so far removed from the frontlines—would care about a mere Emir like you?"
His voice carried absolute confidence, as if he had already sealed the fate of the entire Fire Giant Empire. He showed no fear of offending the legendary Sultan.
The reason he had chosen this moment to enter the Elemental Plane of Fire was because of a legendary event from his past life—the War of Burning.
The Fire Giant Great Sultan of the City of Brass was indeed an entity of unimaginable power. He resided atop the Peak Legend, nearing the level of divine existence. He had allied with the Devils of Hell, and was backed by the Evil Lord of Fire, the Evil Flame Prince Imix. Under his brutal rule, Fire Giants wielding curved blades raided countless realms, enslaved entire races, and forged a vast empire spanning the Elemental Plane of Fire, even defeating the far-flung expeditionary forces of Fadalan.
Yet, even such glory was not eternal.
The true master of the Elemental Plane of Fire, the Lord of Flames Kasus, a being of divine-level power, would never allow the Evil Flame Prince to seize control of the plane or claim his divine throne. Thus, he sent forth the Purifying Fire, a force of cleansing and purification.
From the year 1768 of the Third Age, the righteous Lord of Fire and the Holy Flame Prince Zaman Ruur led a rebellion. They united the enslaved Fire Dwarves, Elemental Energy Apostles, and various alien races, forming the so-called "Holy Flame" faction. They waged a deadly duel to the death against the Evil Flame Prince Imix.
The war raged on—revenge and rebellion spreading like wildfire across the Elemental Plane of Fire. And the Great Sultan dared not leave the safety of the City of Brass.
"So tell me," Kai Xiusu pressed, "would he really risk war with me—just to save you? Would he dare defy a powerful Red Dragon?"
The Fire Titan noble’s face drained of color. His coal-black eyes flickered with despair.
Because the Red Dragon spoke the truth.
And as for Hamid—a pampered noble—his appointment as Emir was only possible because the frontlines were so desperate, the most powerful Fire Giants already deployed in the war.
"Oh, right," Kai Xiusu suddenly remembered, a flicker of interest crossing his face. "Now that I’ve captured you… if I were to release you—would you be obligated to grant me three wishes?"
As natural rulers of the Elemental Plane of Fire, Giants possessed immense physical strength and spellcasting prowess. But more than that, they drew power from the essence of the Inner Planes, granting them the rare ability to grant wishes.
Hence, Fire Giants were known as Fire Titans. The power to grant wishes became legendary among mortals. Only Giant Nobles could bestow one to three wishes upon non-Giant beings.
But the power had limits. Push beyond them, and the wish would manifest in twisted, disastrous ways.
Thus, in past lives, Fire Giants were often called "Wish Machines"—and using them required a Wish-Casting Candle Summoning, which carried significant risk.
"Yes, my lord!" Hamid cried desperately, clinging to the last straw of hope. "I—I can offer you wishes! Anything!"
His voice faltered slightly.
"Dragon Lord… my strength is weak. Each pact only allows me to grant a single wish to another being."
"Gold and silver treasures? Fine wines and feasts? I can provide them all."
The Fire Titan noble’s crimson face twisted into a servile grin. For survival, noble pride meant nothing.
"Only one? How pitiful," Kai Xiusu sighed. "And do you really think I lack gold, jewels, or fine wine?"
The Fire Giant wanted to weep.
"Of course not, Dragon Lord! I was… I was mistaken!"
Curiosity faded quickly. To Kai Xiusu, a single wish was no great prize. To mortals, it might be a life-altering chance to rewrite fate—but to a Red Dragon, it was merely trivial.
Wish-granting typically worked by simulating the very laws of magic. If the desired outcome couldn’t be simulated, the wish would fail—and often at a terrible cost, manifesting in bizarre, horrifying ways.
"Alternatively…"
Kai Xiusu paused, considering. Then he made up his mind. After all, there were plenty of Fire Giants here. One wish wouldn’t be the last.
"Tell me… where will the Revenant Demon Jezarslak descend?"
"Wha—?"
The Fire Titan noble’s smile froze. Sweat poured from his brow, hot as molten rock.
Deep Abyss Demon. The ultimate embodiment of Chaotic Evil. No sane soul would ever wish to cross paths with such a creature.
And if this terrifying Dragon had set his sights on the demon… it was likely a powerful, mad Demon Lord.
Yet, even as fear gripped him, the Law Force of the Inner Planes surged within him, compelling him to fulfill the wish.
Kai Xiusu stared down, his gaze unrelenting. The invisible aura of a Red Dragon radiated around him, suffocating, absolute. There was no room for negotiation.
If this were a mortal, he might have twisted the wording, exploited loopholes. But here, the Dragon loomed—his life balanced on a single breath.
"Lord of Flame…"
Hamid silently prayed. His face twisted into a grimace worse than tears. Reluctantly, he raised his hands, fingers trembling, and began the ritual.
"My last hope… show me where Jezarslak will appear."
Power surged.
The noble’s headscarf fluttered in the wind. His golden earrings swayed slightly.
The miracle of the wish took hold.
The real world warped. A high-level Divination Spell was conjured by the sheer force of the wish—manifesting in a strange, mystical way.
Whoosh—
A massive magical image erupted into the air.
The scene showed rolling mountains, dark black stone, and at the center—a towering, colossal peak, easily a thousand meters high.
"Is that…?"
Kai Xiusu recognized it instantly. The Mount Tiel—the main peak of the Anstica Mountains, revered by northern peoples as the "King of the Snowy Mountains."
Then, the azure sky darkened.
A monstrous black claw tore open the heavens, creating a vortex of abyssal chaos—hundreds of meters wide. From within, countless grotesque, monstrous demons poured forth like a tide.
Their twisted forms filled the sky, blotting out the sun. The world dimmed, plunged into shadow.
"Kai Xiusu…"
A deep, rasping voice echoed. Kai Xiusu knew that voice well—the Revenant Demon Jezarslak.
"Welcome… to your final fate."
Suddenly, the image flickered. Tiny, buzzing distortions appeared like flies on the screen—static interference—before abruptly vanishing.
"Oh? How persistent. He still plans to invade… in the Anzeta Great Wasteland?"
Kai Xiusu gazed at the crimson sky of the Elemental Plane of Fire, his pale golden eyes glowing faintly with inner flame.
"Seems my current body holds a certain… appeal for him."
He smiled faintly.
"A prophecy from two years hence… then. Let me end this here. In Anzeta."
