Chapter 451: Hamid's Flight
“Move! Get out of the way!”
“Don’t block me!”
“Damned—That Red Dragon’s catching up!”
“By the Lord of Flame, what madness is this?”
“How dare he devour a Titan! Does he not fear the wrath of the Great Sultan’s fire?!”
Fire Giants surged from the gates of the Bronze Palace in a panicked flood, screaming, shoving, clawing their way out of this cursed place. Their backs trailed thick plumes of gray smoke and embers, a testament to their desperate flight.
“Hurry! Seal the gates—trap that Red Dragon inside! Don’t let him out!”
Hamid, still airborne, bellowed orders with urgency.
At the entrance, a Fire Lizard Slave—bound in heavy iron chains and guarded by escorts—strained with every ounce of strength to turn the crank.
Creak… groan…
With a grating screech of metal spines, the massive copper-forged gates slowly began to close.
The Fire Giants chanted in unison, weaving arcane spells to enchant the gates with Arcane Lock, fortifying them as a barrier meant to hold back the monstrous Dragon.
Clang!
A deep, metallic boom echoed through the courtyard. The gates bulged outward, cracked with claw marks—but they held.
A collective breath of relief escaped the Fire Giants.
“Praise the heavens…
It’s holding.
For now, we can use this chance…”
Boom!
Then, without warning, the Red Dragon crashed through the thick stone wall like paper. A storm of ash and embers exploded outward as the beast tore free from the palace, its massive form shattering the structure behind it.
The entire construction collapsed in a thunderous ruin.
Kai Xiusu spread his wings and lunged toward the fleeing Fire Giants, his roar shaking the sky:
“Since you have chosen to be my enemy—
You shall pay the price.
Your life force. Your essence.”
“He’s out!”
“Run! For your lives!”
“No—!”
The Red Dragon exhaled a torrent of blazing fire—molten, roaring, devouring everything in its path. The surrounding landscape turned instantly into a sea of flame, engulfing the entire horde.
Perhaps due to the Cyclic Rebirth of the Heavenly Dao, the Fire Giants—those who once wielded fire to purge mortals, raid the Elemental Plane, and scorch mortal homelands—finally felt the terror of being burned.
Dragonfire wrapped around their bodies like living chains. In moments, their flesh dissolved, their Flame Essence devoured, consumed by the ancient, divine flames.
This was the Dragon Flame of an Ancestral Dragon—still fire, yet infused with a far higher Magical Essence, a power beyond mortal comprehension.
Hamid flew on, his back trailing smoke. The sacrifice of the Fire Titan Nobles had bought him precious seconds, and now he was already hundreds of meters ahead.
He glanced back, disbelief etched across his face. His lips moved in silent disbelief.
“Impossible…
What kind of fire…?”
Even from a distance, he could feel its terrifying presence. As the flames drew near, his Magic Power evaporated like mist under a furnace. His control wavered. His body trembled.
For the first time in his life, he truly felt the Transcendent Power Beyond Mortality—a fire so overwhelming, so utterly destructive, it struck fear into the very core of his being.
Only in the presence of the Great Sultan of the City of Brass, or the Elemental Prince of the Temple of Final Burning, had he ever witnessed such a force.
“I must… get out of here.”
“I have to return to the City of Brass… I must report to the Great Sultan!”
Trembling, the Fire Titan Noble raised his curved blade. A portal shimmered into existence before him.
“Ember—”
Meanwhile, Kai Xiusu tore through the City of Iron, his colossal dragon body crushing buildings beneath him, leaving behind only ruins. With each powerful beat of his wings, Fire Ravage swept across the land, consuming the panicked Fire Giants one by one.
Before the Ancestral Red Dragon—thirty meters long and radiating divine terror—these once-proud Fire Giants were no more than helpless lambs, their arrogance shattered.
They could do nothing but cry out to the gods for salvation.
In just a few breaths, dozens of Fire Giants had already been reduced to Flame Essence, absorbed into the Dragon’s being.
As he feasted, Kai Xiusu activated the Supreme True Dragon Crown upon his head—more precisely, Bahamut’s Wind.
A divine aura, a force of Divine Order, wrapped around his fearsome head, preventing him from succumbing to Frenzy or losing his reason.
Hah…
He sensed the distant Spatial Disturbance, his eyes narrowing. A smirk curled at the edge of his jaws.
He extended a claw, pointing far into the distance. A streak of murky green spell-light shot forth like a whip.
Magic Wastage
“Hurry! Just a little more!”
“Lord of Flame, if I reach the City of Brass, the Great Sultan will protect me—he will kill this Dragon!”
Hamid stared desperately at the forming portal, muttering prayers under his breath.
Shhhhh—
The green beam struck true. The portal shattered instantly. Space snapped back into stillness.
“No… no, no!”
“There’s still a chance!”
The Fire Titan Noble shook his head violently, his rugged face twisted in terror. With no hesitation, he turned and fled, his body trailing thick ash.
“Think you can run?”
“You’ve already chosen your fate!”
Kai Xiusu’s roar thundered across the battlefield.
Shhhhh—
The Red Dragon flared its wings, summoning a hurricane of scorching wind powerful enough to flatten buildings. In an instant, its massive form surged forward—hundreds of meters in a single bound.
Hamid didn’t look back. He flew with every ounce of strength, but he could already feel the sulfur-scented breath at his back, and the howling wind closing in.
At last, he reached the city gate.
“Lord Hamid?”
“Wait… is that—?”
“By the Lord of Flame!”
The Fire Giant guards, stunned by the sight of their noble fleeing in terror, were frozen in shock—until the Red Dragon appeared behind him.
“Get out of the way!”
“Release the Multi-Headed Fire Lizard! Stop him!”
Hamid roared in fury.
In their frantic scramble, the massive gates of the city wall burst open with a thunderous Boom. From within, a monstrous creature crawled forth.
The Multi-Headed Fire Lizard—a terrifying beast, over ten meters long, with a dozen serpentine necks and five heads atop them.
Born from the blood of Laneraya Dragon God, slain by the Queen of Monsters Tiamat, these abominations were cursed to remain eternally hungry.
Now, the five heads lifted in unison, their eyes glowing with hunger, and they let out a long, triumphant roar—ready to feast.
Roarrrr—
But then, a crushing presence loomed over them. A distant boom in the air. The sky darkened.
The five heads flickered with confusion.
Boom—
Kai Xiusu swooped low, a shadow descending from above. His body—vast, unstoppable—crushed the monster like a toy.
Meat and blood flew in all directions.
The Multi-Headed Fire Lizard was obliterated. Only scattered limbs remained where it once stood.
To mortals, it was a nightmare.
To the Red Dragon? A paper doll.
One head rolled across the ground, its eyes wide with confusion.
“Lord of Flame… protect me…”
“May that greedy, starving fool hold him just a little longer…”
The Fire Titan Noble whispered his prayer, fleeing with reckless desperation.
But fate had no mercy.
The hurricane followed him without pause. A massive shadow fell across the ground ahead.
Hamid’s vision went black.
Then—his entire body seized, gripped by an invisible, overwhelming force.
Slowly, he raised his head. His body trembled uncontrollably. His flame atop his head flickered wildly. His face was twisted in pure terror.
“P-Please, my lord… there must be some mistake…”
The Red Dragon held him firmly in its claw, its fearsome face breaking into a grin.
“Ah, esteemed ‘Fingerless One’ Hamid…
Give me one reason why I shouldn’t end you.”
