Chapter 45: Unexpected Template
Chapter 45: Unexpected Template
"Dark Fox" awoke from her slumber, rubbing her sore arms and waist as she massaged her head to clear her thoughts and piece together what had transpired.
If her memory served her right, she had been absorbing a four-thousand-year-old soul bone before agreeing to something and then falling unconscious.
Oh yes, the soul bone.
Extending her left hand, she frowned as she indeed felt the presence of a soul bone embedded in her left arm.
'Soul bone skill, activate!'
A crisp sound rang out as five sharp claws extended from her fingertips, accompanied by an energy-condensed dragon claw that materialized alongside them.
Waving her hand in the air, she felt the sharpness of the claws and was satisfied with their keen edges.
"The soul bone has a dragon transformation effect, and these claws are indeed very sharp."
Pleased with the soul bone's effect, "Dark Fox" was, however, displeased with her current situation.
"How was your nap? Are you satisfied with this soul bone?"
A childish voice rang out, causing the frowning "Dark Fox" to turn her head toward the owner of the voice.
Upon seeing Wang Si, her frown deepened, and her expression turned cold.
"Come here!"
"Dark Fox" issued a direct command.
Wang Si unquestioningly moved toward "Dark Fox," but the usually calm and collected "Dark Fox" remained on guard, sensing impending danger.
"I suppose you're curious as to why you're not being controlled by my soul skill. But that's not what you should be curious about."
Wang Si pulled out a chair, placed it behind him, and sat down nonchalantly, casually beckoning "Dark Fox" with a crook of his finger.
Lying on the sofa, "Dark Fox" furrowed her brows at Wang Si's gesture, and her expression turned to one of astonishment as her body began to move of its own accord.
"What have you done to me?!"
"Dark Fox" spoke with a sharp tone, her eyes filled with suspicion as she attempted to initiate a martial soul possession.
However, to her surprise, her martial soul, which had always obeyed her commands without fail, refused to respond at this critical moment! As she watched, her body slowly knelt before Wang Si, bending one knee.
Witnessing "Dark Fox's" reaction, Wang Si couldn't help but chuckle softly.
He reached out, hooking her chin and patting her cheek.
"With all the questions you asked before, you should have a good idea of your current situation."
Wang Si's words were a reminder, as he noticed the confusion in "Dark Fox's" eyes.
Realization dawned on "Dark Fox," and she recalled that she had agreed to be enslaved by this young man.
Instantly, her face turned ashen, and her eyes fixed on Wang Si with an intense gaze.
Unfathomable, she thought. After all these years as an assassin, she had finally met her match in the form of this young brat!
"Tell me your true identity. If you're from another force, I might believe that you're willing to be humiliated by a commoner for the sake of your child. But as for the Star Luo Empire... I don't buy your story one bit. Spill it—your real identity and your purpose here."
Wang Si had no intention of delving further into the matters of the Star Luo Empire's royal family and their practices of incestuous marriages for the sake of pure bloodlines.
As for familial bonds, if they were willing to kill their own flesh and blood for a throne, he doubted they placed much value on family ties.
"Dark Fox" furrowed her brows, her face full of resistance, but her body betrayed her honest answer.
"I don't have a specific mission. Gathering intelligence on the Tian Dou Empire, controlling or kidnapping some of their high-ranking officials... these are all part of my tasks.
What the Title Douluo said about my identity is true, but there's one thing he doesn't know: I am related by blood to the current emperor of the Star Luo Empire."
"Dark Fox" fell silent, choosing not to elaborate further. She remained kneeling on one knee, her once lively eyes now devoid of surprise.
Having been accustomed to manipulating others, she was well aware that she had no room for resistance in her current state.
Hearing "Dark Fox" mention her blood relation to the current Star Luo Emperor, Wang Si's eyebrows twitched, despite having considered various possibilities.
He truly did not want to learn more about the Star Luo royalty; he feared that some unsavory details might surface.
"You have a daughter in the Star Luo Empire, don't you?"
"Dark Fox" nodded.
"But you don't really care about her life, do you?" Wang Si asked, his question causing "Dark Fox's" eyes to widen in astonishment. Yet, she nodded again.
Hearing this, Wang Si waved his hand, relinquishing control over "Dark Fox's" body.
Regaining control over her body, the first thing "Dark Fox" did was not to rush forward and choke Wang Si, demanding that he release her from his control.
Facing "Dark Fox's" temptation, Wang Si placed his hand on her forehead and spoke softly.
"There will be plenty of time for pleasure later. For now, it's more important that you enhance your strength."
"Dark Fox," who had been full of allure, gradually lost focus in her pupils as Wang Si held her forehead, and then she wore an astonished expression as if she had seen a ghost.
Coming back to her senses, "Dark Fox" looked at Wang Si, hesitating to speak.
Wang Si's hand, which had been pressing on "Dark Fox's" forehead, slowly moved up to rest on top of her head.
"It's clear that you don't have much attachment to the Star Luo Empire, nor do you have any emotional connection to your daughter.
Since that's the case, honestly follow me from now on. Your fourth soul skill, 'Shadow Stealth,' is excellent for stealth and assassination.
From now on, your name is 'Zhu Ming,' and you will be responsible for hiding in my shadow to protect my life."
Hearing her new name, "Dark Fox" was taken aback for a moment before breaking into a charming smile.
Taking advantage of a moment when Wang Si was distracted, she reached out, cupped his head, and pulled it into her chest.
"You look so handsome and serious. I wonder how many young ladies you'll captivate in the future."
...
When Wang Si had first heard the Serpent Spear Douluo's description of Zhu Ming, he had suspected that her intentions might not be pure.
If he could sense the problem with such a description, there was no way the Serpent Spear Douluo hadn't noticed it too.
Yet, he had still left, without helping Wang Si resolve the issue. Of course, Wang Si had complaints, but what could he say?
Now, standing at the forefront, he had to learn to solve problems himself. Undoubtedly, this Soul Douluo assassin was a test that he had set up for himself.
A test of his ability to control others.
But it was clear that Wang Si was not cut out for it.
From the very beginning, he had fallen for her "seduction," which was not how it was supposed to go.
To maintain his clarity, having already been tricked once, Wang Si retreated into the "Soul Spirit Space," leaving the lion, with its not-so-high spiritual intelligence, to take his place.
After that, Wang Si had been pondering how to break the stalemate, and there was no doubt about it: he had no solution.
He could only wait for either the Serpent Spear Douluo or the Spine Spear Douluo to arrive, and when either of them showed up, he would have them kill this Zhu Ming without hesitation.
The only idea Wang Si could come up with was to kill her, as he would not tolerate such a hidden danger by his side.
During the long wait, Wang Si inadvertently noticed the extra soul bone in his soul bone template.
Any excess soul bones or soul rings that he absorbed would enter the "backpack" of this template.
Then, he had an idea: his system and some rules of this world were in conflict with each other.
His soul bone was recognized by the system, and he could switch it at will. So, he wondered, what would happen if someone else absorbed a soul bone that belonged to him?
To lower Zhu Ming's guard, Wang Si had pretended to be "unconscious" for quite some time, but everything was going according to his plan.
Finally, when Zhu Ming absorbed the soul bone, the system prompted him: if anyone else absorbed a soul bone that belonged to Wang Si, they would be enslaved.
The system also reminded Zhu Ming at the last moment, but evidently, she did not take the warning seriously.
Through this twist of fate, Wang Si unlocked a new template: the Enslavement Template.
The Enslavement Template was divided into two areas: "Active" enslavement and "Passive" enslavement.
The fundamental difference between the two was the presence or absence of spiritual intelligence.
The "Passive" enslavement subjects would have their consciousness erased, and they could only act if Wang Si issued a command.
It should also be possible to have a "Soul Spirit" inhabit their bodies, but since Wang Si currently had no "Passive" enslavement subjects, he couldn't conduct such an experiment.
The "Active" enslavement was what Zhu Ming had experienced—she retained her self-awareness but couldn't defy Wang Si's commands.
Of course, although Zhu Ming was enslaved by Wang Si, she didn't gain absolutely nothing from it.
At the very least, she obtained a "sub-system" that functioned similarly to Wang Si's.
Zhu Ming could now replace soul rings and soul bones and enhance their age, just like Wang Si. This, of course, included the soul bone in her left arm that Wang Si had instructed her to absorb.
Because she now had the template, she could no longer escape Wang Si's control...
