Chapter 45: A Visit
Chapter 45: A Visit
Kanto Region.
In the city of Saffron, an old training ground.
"Charizard, Flamethrower!"
A massive pillar of fire erupted, the intense flames glaring even in the bright daylight.
"Roar!!"
Within the inferno, a grayish-white Fossil Wing Pokemon flapped its wings, tearing through the flames without a care, charging directly at Charizard.
Seeing this, Charizard stood firm, its feet planted firmly on the ground, ready to withstand the impact.
Bang!!
The two powerful Pokemon collided with a force that sent dust and debris flying.
Then, they engaged in a brutal, almost flesh-to-flesh battle.
"Enough."
At that moment, a voice called out from the side of the training ground. It was Kanto's young detective, Koga!
However, his words seemed to have little effect, or more accurately, little effect on the Fossil Wing Pokemon.
The Fossil Wing Pokemon's eyes were bloodshot, filled with rage. It seemed oblivious to Koga's commands, continuing to fight with Charizard.
Charizard heard Koga's command but had no choice but to continue defending itself.
Koga's brow furrowed as he watched for a while, then he sighed in frustration.
"Return, Fossil Wing."
Taking out a Poke Ball, Koga had no choice but to recall the Fossil Wing. Charizard then stopped its attack.
"Roar—"
Charizard approached, and Koga patted its arm, assuring it.
He had been training the Fossil wing for some time, and the Fossil wing had acknowledged him as its trainer. However, the Fossil wing's emotions were very unstable. It was usually fine, but once in battle, it would lose control and ignore his commands.
Koga had tried many methods to help the Fossil wing control its emotions, but with little success.
Looking at the Poke Ball, where the Fossil wing seemed to realize its problem and hang its head, Koga could only say, "It's okay, Fossil wing. We'll overcome this together."
But first, he needed to understand why the Fossil wing behaved this way.
After much deliberation, Koga decided to seek help.
Fortunately, he had many friends he could turn to, like Professor Oak, the Dragon Clan, and even some Elite trainers and top detectives.
When he posted about the Fossil wing's condition online, he received several responses.
But what caught Koga's attention was the reply from Seiji, the Dragon-type Elite Trainer from the Hoenn region.
[Pirate King]: Out of control? Enraged? I know someone who can help you.
As a fellow Dragon-type trainer and detective, Koga knew of Seiji's experience and admired him. So, he reached out to Seiji.
The call connected.
Koga briefly explained the Fossil wing's condition again, and Seiji listened.
"Find a trainer named Jing He in the city of Petalburg in the Hoenn region, or you can call him a Pokemon psychologist. He should be able to help you. Just tell him I referred you."
Jing He?
A trainer?
Koga's eyes lit up.
"Thank you, Seiji, Elite Trainer," Koga said gratefully.
"Ah, right."
Seiji's voice came through the phone again, the background noisy with him handling something.
"If you're asking for help, don't go empty-handed. Bring a gift!"
"Oh, and his Pokemon is a Gastly. You might want to start there. That's all, I have some things to handle."
A Gastly, huh?
That could be tricky.
Koga had only limited knowledge of Poison and Ghost types, mostly from battles.
He scratched his head, "Can't just give money, that's too vulgar."
Suddenly, he had an idea.
"Got it!"
He quickly climbed onto Charizard's back, "Charizard, Silver Mountain."
Whoosh—
In the roaring wind, the orange figure soared into the sky.
Hoenn Region.
Jing He and his Gastly had a very routine life these days.
Except for weekends, they went to the academy in the morning. If Jing He had classes, he would prepare the lesson the day before. Most of the time, he spent an hour in his consultation room, ensuring no one came for advice, then took Gastly to the academy's training room for basic training.
At noon, Jing He would often take a nap with Gastly, then head to the training room for some move practice in the afternoon.
After work, he would first stop by the Kanaz Police Station to calm and treat the rampaging Pokemon. This also served as a way to strengthen Gastly’s Hypnosis technique.
If Gastly still had enough energy, they might choose a battle restaurant in Kanaz City for a match, provided the battles were suitable for Gastly’s level.
In the evening, back home, Gastly would watch some shows, and Jing He would take this time to answer questions from those who sought his online Pokemon psychological counseling services.
The buzz around his recent paper had died down, but his online counseling room was seeing more and more visitors.
Sometimes, he would spend an hour or two soothing and helping Gyarados (Cynthia) fall asleep. This was, by far, the easiest of his "jobs."
However, overall, these days were quite fulfilling and peaceful.
Today.
Kanaz Police Station.
"Thank you, Teacher Jing He."
Jasmine smiled as she bid farewell to Jing He, who was about to leave.
"Hehe!"
Gastly, floating behind Jing He, chimed in.
"Yes, and thank you too, Gastly."
This made Gastly beam with happiness.
"Hehe~"
"Tomorrow is the weekend, so if there's nothing special, we probably won't come in," Jing He smiled. "Of course, if there's an emergency, you can always call me."
Jasmine nodded, aware of Jing He and Gastly's hard work. She wouldn’t call him unless it was truly necessary.
Leaving the police station, they walked along the path bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun.
"Gastly," Jing He called softly.
"Hehe?"
A pair of curious eyes peeked out from under his collar.
"When do you think you'll evolve?"
"Hehe?"
Gastly looked equally puzzled.
Evolve?
I don’t know.
"Never mind. Whether or not you evolve, it’s all the same. Let’s save up a bit more money, and we’ll buy the TM for Substitute."
With Toxic already mastered, and once Substitute and Protect were learned, the basic "Tox-Sub-Prot" combo would be complete. This should make it easier to pass the Junior Trainer exam.
Squeal—
Suddenly, a rather luxurious car pulled up beside Jing He and Gastly.
As they looked on in confusion, the door opened, revealing Diantha, who was beaming.
"Teacher Jing He."
Getting into the car, Gastly floated out curiously, looking around and touching things.
"What’s up?"
Jing He asked directly.
"Um, it might be a bit presumptuous, but my dad asked me to invite you to our home?"
Invite?
Jing He was taken aback.
Zinnia Zygarde? President of Devon Corporation?
"Now?"
"He said he wants to chat with you about something."
Chat?
Jing He’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Well, why not.
He was curious about more details regarding Zinnia’s company.
The car started smoothly.
Diantha watched as Gastly’s form became more solid, marveling inwardly.
Though he saw Gastly almost every day, it still felt like Gastly was getting stronger by the day.
'With Gastly’s current strength, and with Teacher Jing He’s guidance and, ahem, tactics, even a Mid-Level Trainer’s Pokemon might not stand a chance. Even a High-Level Trainer would find it challenging.'
Suddenly, Diantha remembered something and asked:
"By the way, Teacher Jing He, have you heard of a Trainer named 'Dian'? His Pokemon is also a Gastly, and it’s very strong. He’s nearly swept through most of the battle restaurants in Kanaz City."
"Hehe?"
In the car, Gastly’s movements froze, and he slowly turned his head.
Jing He’s expression didn’t change, and he spoke calmly.
"Never heard of him."
"Hehe Hehe~"
Gastly quickly nodded in agreement.
Never heard of any 'Dian' or 'Diantha'. We’ve never heard of them!
"Is that so?"
Diantha didn’t suspect anything and sighed. "I heard that Gastly is very strong. I’d love to battle him."
