Chapter 45: A Chat About the New Book, and a Plea for More Readers
Let’s talk about the new book and ask for more readers.
The new book has been out for almost a month, and many readers have fallen in love with it. As the author, I couldn’t be happier, and I wish I could keep my phone in my pocket all day.
The initial inspiration for this book came from Cyberpunk, but I always felt a certain distance with Western Cyberpunk. What I wanted to write was Xian Dao Cyber, similar to the difference between Cthulhu and Chinese Cthulhu.
Some of my long-time readers might remember that I first tried this fusion in my previous book, Tomorrow’s Catastrophe. Back then, my understanding of Cyberpunk was quite superficial, focusing mainly on cool gadgets, cybernetic enhancements, and mass-produced combat abilities. The cyber elements were more like fashion accessories, just a touch of flavor.
In my book before that, Tome of the Forgotten Days, I attempted to incorporate elements of the cultivation system, such as Spiritual Loans and debt repayment, to create a more cyber-styled cycle of interests. This was a step closer to the Xian Dao Cyber atmosphere I wanted, but my understanding was still limited, and I couldn’t fully capture the essence.
In my most recent book, I Said I Would Time Reverse, I turned the immortal realm into a cyber-immortal realm. Unfortunately, due to inconsistencies in style, my own health issues, and the protagonist’s overwhelming power, I couldn’t fully explore this world, and the book ended rather abruptly.
Now, after several years of accumulation, I have a deeper understanding of the Xian Dao Cyber flavor I want to create. I feel that I can finally write a unique and interesting novel.
With the influx of more and more readers, this book has evolved from a personal passion project to a responsibility. Every day, reading your comments and feedback makes me feel that I can’t let down so many devoted readers.
However, this book is really challenging to write. The world and the characters’ thoughts are quite unique, and I often have to switch my mindset to keep the story going. Sometimes, I find myself writing in a too conventional way, and I have to delete and rewrite, like I did with the last two chapters.
Additionally, the world-building is an ongoing process, which slows down my writing. It’s a bit frustrating, but I’m determined to get it right. 😅
Finally, dear readers, your creativity and passion in the chapter comments are truly amazing, leaving me in awe.
I feel the wave of talent and enthusiasm you bring, and to show my appreciation, I’ve decided to delay the release date (originally set for December 1st) and provide more free chapters as a reward. I’m really eager to improve! ~(^◇^)/
I hope you continue to support and follow the book. Your support and comments are the driving force behind this story! Feel free to recommend it to your friends and bring them along to experience Kunxu.
All you talented and beautiful readers, show me your limits!
Please follow the book! Please follow the book! Please follow the book!
