Chapter 449: Hunger Madness
Chapter 449: Hunger Madness
While Kuro was making plans to visit Pegasus Island, a crisis was brewing elsewhere in the New World.
Totto Land Kingdom, Cake Island.
"Donuts!!!"
A colossal figure rampaged through a landscape of dessert-themed architecture, its crimson eyes blazing with madness. With a single punch, it shattered a cookie house, casually scooped up a chunk, and stuffed it into its mouth. Saliva dripped from its lips as it devoured the sugary wreckage.
"Mother! Please hold on a little longer—the donuts are on their way!" pleaded a tall, muscular man in boxing gloves, trembling as he approached the giant. His voice strained to reach the towering figure above.
"Donuts!!!"
The giant's gaze dropped. Without hesitation, it swung a fist downward.
Boom!
The man dodged, but the shockwave from the impact sent him flying backward.
"I Want Donuts! Give ME Donuts!!!"
The obese, eight-meter-tall behemoth—wearing thick lipstick, light purple eyeshadow, a pink dress, and a matching captain's hat—was none other than Big Mom, the pirate queen of Totto Land Kingdom and one of the Four Emperors.
"Baba Luya, stop trying to reason with Mother! You'll get killed!" shouted a long-nosed man in a top hat and candy cane cane, his tongue stretching comically. "Stay back! Mother's Hunger Madness has kicked in!"
"But if this keeps up, she'll destroy Cake Island!" Baba Luya scrambled to his feet, his voice urgent. "Snug and Olga aren't back yet either—we can't rely on them!"
"Smoothie and Opera are already handling it", Perospero replied, twirling his cane. "Smoothie knows Olga's donut recipe by now. They'll arrive soon. For now, no one can stop Mother."
Perospero, Big Mom's eldest son and de facto vice-captain, watched as the giant reduced buildings to rubble. Homies and citizens alike fled in terror, their sweet creations crumbling into ruins.
"Cake Island..." Baba Luya whispered, his throat dry.
"It'll be fine."
A new voice cut through the chaos. A tall figure strode forward, his high-heeled boots clicking rhythmically. His dark red hair was cropped short, his muscular legs powerful beneath a black, metallic outfit. A flower-like scarf hid his mouth, while scars marred his cheeks and a pink skull tattoo adorned his left arm.
"Katakuri!" Baba Luya gasped.
"Baba Luya, stay safe. Keep your distance from Mother", Katakuri said, unfazed as Big Mom's fist smashed a row of houses, debris flying toward him. He sidestepped effortlessly, his movements fluid.
"Katakuri! You're here too?" Perospero called.
"I have bad news", Katakuri replied, his gaze fixed on Big Mom. "But now isn't the time."
"Donuts!!!"
Big Mom lunged, her fists swinging downward.
"Katakuri, watch out!" Baba Luya screamed.
"No need." Katakuri's expression remained calm. "I've already seen this moment. Mother will calm down."
"Donuts Are Here!!!"
A cream-covered giant sprinted forward, carrying a small, pink-clad old man on his back.
"Smoothie! Did you finish it?" Perospero asked, surprised.
"Of course! Opera, throw me up there!" Smoothie barked.
Opera hurled him skyward. Smoothie, clutching a massive parcel, soared toward Big Mom.
"Big Mom! Your donuts!"
He flung a donut into her roaring mouth.
Big Mom's fist froze inches from Katakuri's head, a shockwave rippling beneath his feet. Her eyes, once wild, softened as she chewed.
"Big Mom, they're all here!"
Smoothie hurled the parcel at her face. Big Mom caught it, beaming, and sat to devour the treats.
"That was close!" Smoothie wiped his brow—then realized he was still midair. His legs flailed as he plummeted.
"Save ME!!!"
Smack!
Katakuri caught his ankle just before impact, holding him a hair's breadth from the ground.
"Thanks, Katakuri!" Smoothie grinned.
Katakuri twisted his wrist, flipping Smoothie upright, then released him gently.
"Head Chef, are you alright?"
"Phew! Glad that worked out." Smoothie adjusted his hat, watching Big Mom feast. "Looks like the flavor's good. Just made it in time."
Big Mom devoured the parcel, finally closing her eyes in satisfaction.
"Mama Mama Mama... Delicious, my Head Chef Smoothie." She chuckled. "I don't need Olga anymore—I've got even better donuts now!"
"Glad to hear it." Smoothie bowed.
"Mama Mama Mama, I'm so happy!" Big Mom roared with laughter.
"Finally", Perospero sighed, wiping his brow. "Ope Ope, you did well."
"Better late than never", Ope Ope grinned.
"Mother."
Katakuri stepped forward.
"Oh? Katakuri, my son—what is it?" Big Mom smiled.
He paused. "Snug has been captured by the Navy."
