Chapter 447: Working Together to Build a Home (Part 1)
Chapter 447: Working Together to Build a Home (Part 1)
Upon seeing a new Pokemon in the chat group, Giratina immediately asked:
【Is this Pokemon also a deity?】
The Rotom Phone in Mewtwo's hand automatically spoke out loud for it.
"A deity? No, I am not a deity." Mewtwo thought it was the device talking to it, and it shook its head, "I am... a Pokemon."
Seeing this, Naoki couldn't help but facepalm.
Ever since he accidentally let it slip about the "Legendary Pokemon Chat Group" to Giratina last time, Giratina had started to see itself as a deity.
And, being the intelligent Pokemon it was, based on the abilities displayed by Regigigas, it seemed that Pokemon was also a "deity".
This led Giratina to realize that this chat group was only accessible to legendary Pokemon like itself.
And now, a Pokemon named Mewtwo had joined.
Mewtwo's words were automatically sent via the Rotom Phone.
【Mewtwo: A deity? No, I am not a deity, I am... a Pokemon.】
【Giratina: Then how did you get in?】
Mewtwo: "......"
Naoki stepped in to explain: "I invited Mewtwo. Giratina, you focus on your tasks, I'll take Mewtwo on a tour of the World Tree."
Giratina was merely curious about Mewtwo, and upon hearing Naoki's explanation, it didn't pursue the matter further.
Now, Naoki had the opportunity to explain the Rotom Phone to Mewtwo.
"This is a type of intelligent machine developed by humans. There's a Pokemon named Rotom living inside it, so humans call it the Rotom Phone."
"With this, even if you're in the Kanto region and I'm in the Hisui region, we can still communicate. Moreover, it has a lot of other functions besides that."
"Later, the Rotom in the phone will give you a detailed introduction."
Mewtwo nodded thoughtfully.
It looked down at the Rotom Phone in its hand, and then, a smiley face symbol appeared on the screen.
Then, the voice of the Pokemon named Rotom rang out:
"Hello Mewtwo, I am Rotom, nice to meet you, please take care of me from now on, Rotom!"
Mewtwo had encountered human-made machines before, and it had even made some itself.
Therefore, it quickly accepted the existence of the Rotom Phone.
Today's lunch for the Pokemon on the World Tree was still tree fruit.
Although the variety was somewhat lacking, the Pokemon still ate happily.
Naoki felt a bit heartbroken seeing this, so after lunch was over, he gathered all the Pokemon from this level and led them to the pile of items he had brought.
A group of Pokemon stood in a few rows in front of Naoki, with the taller Pokemon at the back and the shorter ones in front.
They all looked at the pile of items behind Naoki with curious eyes.
"These are things I brought from the human world for all of you." Naoki introduced with a smile.
"There are seeds for cultivation, saplings of various tree fruit, pots and pans for cooking, blankets and small quilts for sleeping, machines for processing crops and generating energy, as well as some ingredients and food."
"Meow!" (Sushi!)
Upon hearing this, the three Mimey jumped up excitedly.
Seeing their eager anticipation, the other Pokemon turned to look at them, and happy smiles appeared on their faces.
Because at that moment, everyone felt the same way.
There was nothing more delightful than building the home they would rely on from now on with their own hands.
Naoki looked at the three Mimey and couldn't help but laugh at their expressions.
"Rest assured, I've brought everything! But there are a lot of things to do, so let's take it one step at a time."
Naoki looked at the power storage equipment beside him and asked, "Is there anyone who wants to help generate electricity for everyone?"
"Meow?" Meowth asked in confusion, not understanding what generating electricity meant.
"Generating electricity is providing energy for the Explorer's Guild," Naoki explained, pointing to the lights in the sushi shop and the park. "With electricity, these lights can be turned on to illuminate your way home at night."
Upon hearing this, Pichu's eyes lit up: "Pichu?"
In other words, they wouldn't have to be afraid of the dark anymore?
Naoki nodded with a smile: "That's right, but it requires the help of Electric-type Pokemon."
"Pikachu!" Pikachu ran over excitedly on all fours, indicating that it could help!
"Mee!" The light bulbs on the tails of the two Mareep also lit up, indicating that they could use Electric-type moves as well.
The other Pokemon couldn't generate electricity and could only look on helplessly.
"Then I'll leave this task to you guys!" Naoki laughed, "But you don't need to come over every day to generate electricity. Filling up the machine with electricity once will be enough to last you for more than a month."
"After the World Tree grows and flies into the sky, we can use solar and wind power to generate electricity, but for now, I'm counting on you guys!"
"Pikachu!"
"Mee!"
Pikachu and Mareep nodded nonchalantly, not a problem! They had an endless supply of electricity within them!
Especially Pikachu, who seemed to want to validate its words, lay on the ground and let out a determined cry.
Then, two streams of yellow electricity surged from its cheeks.
The intense light instantly illuminated everything around them.
"Amazing!" Naoki praised without hesitation.
This Pikachu was indeed a clone of the Pichu; even without much training, the electricity it released was impressive.
"Pika~chu~"
Hearing Naoki's praise, Pikachu looked a little shy.
Mewtwo, who had been quietly observing, suddenly spoke up:
"After we leave here, I can modify these machines and build a power plant."
Naoki was slightly taken aback, "You can build one?"
Mewtwo affirmed with a soft sound, having done something similar in the past.
Perhaps due to the human genes within it, Mewtwo possessed intelligence and emotions far beyond that of ordinary Pokemon, coupled with its psychically enhanced brain, allowing it to effortlessly acquire human knowledge.
The castle on New Island that it had created was a testament to this, crafted by absorbing the memories and knowledge of the Rocket Squad researchers.
Naoki wasn't too surprised by Mewtwo's offer, as he had anticipated something like this.
Still, he thought, Mewtwo had certainly picked up some unique skill sets...
Building houses, modifying machines, laying concrete floors, and even hypnotizing humans—Mewtwo had done it all.
In the Pokemon movies, Mewtwo had even hypnotized a Nurse Joy to come to New Island and be its housekeeper.
"In that case, I'll leave it to you," Naoki said, pleased.
He was happy that Mewtwo was taking the initiative, indicating that it was starting to view this place as its "home."
The idea of Pokemon working together to build a shared home was heartwarming.
This was a perfect opportunity to have Mewtwo build a power plant, so when Zapdos retired, it could settle down there directly.
With the energy issue resolved, the next step was crop planting.
Naoki rummaged through the pile of items and retrieved the seeds and saplings he had purchased, intending to teach the Pokemon about crop cultivation in the farming area.
However, there were too many things for him to carry alone.
Noticing this, the surrounding Pokemon rushed over to help.
Charizard used its claws to lift a bundle of saplings, while Vileplume extended its vine whips to wrap around the larger fruit trees. Donphan and Tropius each carried two bags of seeds on their backs.
Even the smaller Pokemon like Whismur, Pichu, Vaporeon, and Meowth each picked up a small bag of seeds.
In high spirits, the group made their way to the farming area, filled with anticipation for the good life ahead.
As Naoki walked at the front, he turned back and felt as though he was leading a group of kindergarteners on a spring outing.
Soon, they traversed King Immovable's Sage Forest and arrived at the fertile plain that had been prepared for cultivation.
Here, the land had been tilled by Mewtwo and the others, revealing a vast expanse of farmland.
Naoki sorted the seeds, grouping vegetables together and grains together.
Finally, he began instructing the group on how to plant, when to harvest, the methods of harvesting, and how to save seeds for the next crop.
While planting and harvesting were simple tasks for the Pokemon, understanding the concept of saving seeds for the next crop was more challenging.
Naoki explained patiently for a while, but only a few Pokemon seemed to grasp the idea.
Unperturbed, Naoki knew there was no rush since the crops hadn't even been planted yet, let alone matured. He could always return later to provide further instruction when the crops were closer to harvest.
By then, the Pokemon could follow along with the process and hopefully understand it better.
After the introduction, Naoki led the group in planting the seeds.
They scattered the seeds into the prepared fields and then used soft soil to cover them.
At first, the Pokemon were a bit clumsy in their movements.
However, they quickly got the hang of it, and their speed and efficiency improved significantly.
Meanwhile, Mewtwo hadn't been idle.
It flew into the air, its eyes glowing with a blue light, and its body radiating an overwhelming psychic power.
In the next moment, Mewtwo swooped down from the sky.
The untouched wilderness below began to transform at a visible rate, forced by Mewtwo's psychic power to become suitable farmland.
Naoki stood there, dumbfounded by the display of Mewtwo's incredible ability.
It was truly overpowered!
Before long, the entire wilderness had been transformed by Mewtwo.
It even thoughtfully left pathways between the fields for the Pokemon to walk on, making it convenient for them to check on the growth of the crops.
After finishing this task, Mewtwo handed over a small section of the field to Vileplume and the others to plant.
As for itself, it flew through the air with the remaining seeds, using its psychic powers with pinpoint precision.
Under its control, the seeds seemed drawn to the prepared pits, falling right into place.
Then, the soft soil automatically covered the seeds.
By the time Mewtwo finished planting its section, Naoki and the other Pokemon had also completed their assigned areas.
Naoki surveyed the fields and felt he should place small signs in front of each plot to help the Pokemon identify what was planted there.
However, he hadn't brought the necessary materials today.
After a moment's thought, he decided to make the signs later and bring them to the World Tree.
The first crop planted by the Pokemon held significant meaning, and he wanted them to witness the growth of the crops they had sown with their own hands. The feeling of watching their hard work bear fruit would be vastly different from simply harvesting mature crops.
For this reason, Naoki didn't ask Reuniclus to come and instantly ripen the crops.
"What's next?" Mewtwo asked.
"Next is watering," Naoki said, looking at the nearby Water-type Pokemon.
"Roar!" This time, it was Manaphy who stepped forward.
Its slender and graceful body moved gently, and a mysterious power rose above the fields, forming a cloud.
Soon, a gentle rain fell from the cloud, nourishing the seeds below.
"That's right," Naoki nodded, "Use Water-type moves to irrigate the fields. The seeds will absorb the moisture and grow better. Besides the move Rain Dance..."
Since they all knew Water Gun, they could come over and help water the fields in the future!
"That's right," Naoki smiled and nodded.
With that, the work in the fields could be put on hold for now.
He looked around and finally fixed his gaze on the mill by the river.
Naoki took out a bag of rice and wheat that he had planted from his waist and said, "Next, I'll take you to the mill and show you how the harvested rice and wheat are turned into rice and flour."
It took about three minutes to cross the fields, and soon a group of people arrived in front of the hydropower mill.
The mill was built by the river, utilizing the power of the water flow to turn the windmill slowly.
There were two entrances to the mill, and Naoki put the rice into one of them.
"This is where the grains are crushed and transformed into rice."
As the water flowed, the mill emitted a creaking sound, and after a few minutes, the work was done.
Naoki walked to the other side and took out the finely ground rice, saying to the Pokemon that followed:
"This is rice, which can be used to make rice dishes or sushi."
"Meow?! (Are we making sushi now?!)
The three Mimey exclaimed excitedly.
Naoki smiled helplessly: "Hold on, there's one more thing."
He took out the bag of wheat and put it into the other entrance of the mill.
With the mill's grinding, the wheat soon turned into fine, snowy-white flour.
"This is the flour I mentioned before," Naoki said. "It can be used to steam buns or make bread. Just mix it with eggs and milk, then put it in the oven to bake soft and sweet bread."
"Pi-ka-chu..."
Pikachu imagined the scene, and it felt like it was drooling just from the thought.
"Alright, that's it for the mill. Let's head back to the guild now!" Naoki said.
Hearing this, the three Mimey immediately realized that Naoki was about to teach them how to make sushi, and they quickly hopped onto Naoki's body.
One jumped onto his head, and the other two ran to perch on his shoulders, one on each side.
"Let's make sushi now," Naoki turned and said to Mewtwo, "Mewtwo, you can come along too, right?"
Mewtwo nodded.
It could sense that the human in front of it, Naoki, truly cared for Pokemon.
After a bit of walking, the group finally returned to the Explorer's Guild.
Since they didn't have any chickens on the World Tree yet, Naoki had brought a few eggs from the ranch.
He placed the kitchen utensils, tableware, and appliances in their respective positions and then began to demonstrate the sushi-making process to the group of Pokemon.
As the head chef of the sushi restaurant was a Meganium, this demonstration was mainly for its benefit.
This cloned Meganium had a unique pattern on its body, unlike ordinary Pokemon, almost like those barbarians who painted camouflage on their faces...
Although this Meganium looked wild, its personality was gentle and meticulous.
"To make sushi, we first need several ingredients." Naoki laid out the necessary ingredients on the cutting board.
Meganium and the Mimey watched intently.
"Rice, seaweed, fish, eggs, and carrots."
"First, we'll use a rice cooker to cook the rice. If we didn't have a rice cooker, we'd need a Fire-type Pokemon to start a fire, but since I brought a rice cooker, we won't need Charizard's help."
"Just plug it in, and the rice cooker will work on its own. Then, we'll wash the rice and put it inside, adding the right amount of water before closing the lid to start cooking."
"While the rice is cooking, we can prepare the other ingredients."
Meganium and Mimey watched attentively.
Naoki began to slice the salmon on the cutting board with a knife.
Seeing the orange-red fish meat, Mimey let out a startled cry: "Meow!"
Then it started to shiver.
Wasn't that a Mimey? How scary! Do we need to use Mimey as an ingredient for sushi?! Naoki: "..."
Naoki immediately understood Mimey's thoughts.
He explained helplessly, "No, that's not Mimey. It's salmon, a food that Pidgeot loves to eat."
"Meow?" Mimey looked doubtful.
Naoki nodded to reassure it: "How could I eat you?"
"Meow..." Mimey thought about it carefully and realized that was true.
Upon realizing that it was just ordinary fish meat and not Mimey, it breathed a sigh of relief.
"Its name is salmon," Naoki introduced the fish to the Pokemon in front of him. "This type of fish usually lives in the ocean, but don't worry, you don't have to go too far to catch them."
"Just take the World Tree elevator down to the Dragon's Hometown on the next level, and you can find this fish in the sea there."
"While you're at it, you can also find another ingredient for sushi, seaweed. Seaweed grows in the ocean, and when it's dried, it looks like this."
As he spoke, Naoki showed the thin sheet of seaweed to the Pokemon in front of him.
