Chapter 446: The Trio of Trouble-Makers from Gryffindor
Chapter 446: The Trio of Trouble-Makers from Gryffindor
Could there be someone else here?
Sirius Black glanced around but saw no one. It couldn't possibly be Peter going crazy by himself, could it?
Just as Sirius was hesitating, a strong wind blew from outside, and a bone-chilling cold began to seep in from all directions.
"Why did it suddenly get so cold?" Ron shivered and complained, while Sirius's face turned pale.
"Bad news, those Dementors are coming. You need to leave right now!" Sirius looked at Harry and the others, urging them to hurry.
"But what about you?" Harry hesitated.
"Don't worry about me. I spent over a decade in Azkaban, so I'm very familiar with them", Sirius said, trying to sound calm as he waved them off.
Harry wanted to say more, but Hermione grabbed his arm and pulled him away, and Ron quickly picked up the Invisibility Cloak from the ground and draped it over everyone.
However, they were a bit too slow. The delay gave a group of ravenous Dementors enough time to start floating through the door.
Eager to enjoy their feast, the Dementors' keen senses easily detected the unusual presence on the rooftop. In the gray, bleak world, various emotions were emanating from three different locations.
But in their memory, the rooftop should only have two prisoners!
Harry and the others, hidden under the Invisibility Cloak, held their breath and cautiously moved toward the door. Unfortunately, the Dementors had already surrounded them.
The long-forgotten feeling of fear surged back into Harry's heart. He seemed to hear Voldemort's laughter and the agonized scream of a witch before her death. He gritted his teeth, beads of cold sweat forming on his forehead, but he did not faint as he had before.
A Dementor quickly floated in front of them, and the panic in the three young wizards' hearts began to spread. Harry desperately recalled the lessons he had learned about the Patronus Charm, remembering what Ivan had once said.
The secret of the Patronus Charm is to condense positive emotions into magic and transform them into power!
There's nothing to fear from Dementors. They are intelligent beings and will feel fear when faced with a greater force.
Despite the Dementor's hideous face getting closer, Harry's mind became calm. He tried to recapture the feeling of casting the Patronus Charm, raised his wand, and shouted loudly.
"Expecto Patronum!"
Sparkling light appeared at the tip of his wand, and a white mist burst forth. A massive silver creature emerged, using its antler-like horns to push the approaching Dementor away.
"I did it! My Patronus succeeded!" Harry looked in amazement at the white figure chasing away the Dementors in the air, which looked like a majestic Stag.
"Wow, Harry! You actually defeated them!" Ron exclaimed, unable to believe it. If he remembered correctly, just a week ago, Harry had fallen from the sky because of a Dementor.
"Is this a Patronus Charm? When did you learn this?" Hermione asked, equally surprised, looking at Harry with a hint of jealousy.
"After the Quidditch match, I specifically went to Ivan to learn it", Harry directed his Stag Patronus to repel another Dementor that was trying to get closer, explaining casually.
Hermione pursed her lips, feeling a bit envious. Because she had encountered a Dementor before, she had also asked Ivan for help with the Patronus Charm, but he had been too busy at the time and put it off. So she had to study it on her own.
The young witch hummed lightly, drew out her wand, and muttered a spell. A hazy white mist immediately drifted out, blocking the direction of the approaching Dementor.
Not only Harry and the others were facing the assault of the Dementors, but some lazy creatures that had not gathered around also chose two easier targets.
"Get away, all of you, stay away from me! When the Dark Lord returns, he will kill you all!"
Peter seemed to have lost his mind after the continuous blows, incessantly shouting some crazy words, or perhaps the large number of Dementors reminded him of the days thirteen years ago when he was under Voldemort's command.
Sirius Black, surrounded by several Dementors, was not faring well either. He furrowed his brows tightly, his face occasionally showing signs of pain.
More Dementors were continuously squeezing in through the ventilated windows.
Harry heard Peter's cries and noticed the situation. He quickly waved his wand, and a silver-white Stag shot out like a bolt of white lightning, knocking all the Dementors near Sirius Black away.
Sirius Black came to his senses, staring blankly at the white figure, muttering something to himself. His dark eyes then turned to Harry, as if looking at someone else.
After helping Sirius Black out of danger, Harry hesitated for a moment and then used his guardian to help drive away the Dementors near Peter.
"Why are you helping him? It would be better if the Dementors killed him!" Ron asked, thoroughly confused.
"These Dementors are already out of control. What if they kill Peter?" Harry explained.
As Harry said, the already uncontrolled Dementors were becoming more and more aggressive.
Harry and the others felt they had caused a huge disaster and had no idea what to do.
At this moment, Sirius Black came to his senses and told them not to worry about him, to put on their Invisibility Cloak and rush out.
"The Dementors won't dare to do anything to me, but if you don't leave now, the Aurors guarding below will come up soon! Hurry up and go!" Sirius Black shouted again.
Harry nodded, gritted his teeth, and summoned his Stag guardian back, leading the way. He then led Ron and Hermione out of the Astronomy Tower.
Dozens of Dementors converged from all directions, and Harry was struggling to maintain his guardian while trying to keep them at bay, both mentally and physically exhausted.
Fortunately, Hermione also knew the Patronus Charm, and although she couldn't summon her own guardian, she could help share some of the pressure, allowing Harry to hold on.
"Expecto Patronum! Is that how you say it?" Ron, seeing his two friends so effective, also wanted to contribute and tried to cast the spell in the same manner.
But such a high-level spell was not something that could be mastered in a short time. No matter how hard Ron tried, his wand showed no reaction.
A Dementor from somewhere nearby slapped Ron's wand out of his hand, and it rolled to the side.
"No! My wand!" Ron shouted, trying to run back to retrieve it. However, what made him even more distraught was that a Dementor passing by picked up his wand.
