Chapter 446: Mewtwo Joins the Chat Group (Part 1)
Chapter 446: Mewtwo Joins the Chat Group (Part 1)
"It's been a while, Mewtwo." Naoki greeted Mewtwo with a soft laugh, recalling the last time they met and how Mewtwo got drunk at the Pokemon Tavern.
"Hmm," Mewtwo acknowledged with a deep voice, quickly averting his gaze.
"Where is the World Tree?" it asked.
Naoki glanced at the group of uneasy Pokemon behind Mewtwo before putting down what he was holding and preparing to take them to see the World Tree.
"Follow me!"
Mewtwo nodded, a blue light flashing in its eyes.
In an instant, its powerful telekinetic powers lifted the group of Pokemon that had been standing by its side, gently lifting them off the ground as they followed Naoki forward in flight.
They flew through the fields and over the lake, entering the inverted world.
Mewtwo's eyes widened slightly as it took in the space filled with a sense of destruction.
Almost as soon as it entered, it sensed a terrifying presence in this domain.
Mewtwo's gaze immediately locked onto a distant shattered island covered in flowers.
A peculiarly shaped Pokemon, exuding a fierce aura, lay resting there.
Noticing Mewtwo's stare, Naoki explained, "That's Giratina, the ruler of this space. Due to special circumstances, the World Tree has to be placed here temporarily, but don't worry, it won't affect any of you."
Mewtwo nodded calmly and withdrew its gaze, looking in another direction.
There, an immensely tall and majestic tree stood.
Its leaves were lush, glowing with a vibrant green light, and a rich natural aura emanated from it continuously.
"Is that the World Tree?" Mewtwo murmured.
"Yes," Naoki affirmed. "What we see here is just its exterior. Inside, there's a vast space. Let's go take a look!"
With that, Naoki began walking towards the World Tree.
Soon, they arrived at the massive island where the World Tree stood.
The Pokemon following Mewtwo looked up in awe at the towering tree.
It was so enormous! Mewtwo also raised its head, gazing up at the seemingly endless canopy, the green leaves blocking out the sky.
For the first time, it felt a sense of its own insignificance.
What surprised the Pokemon even more was the fresh air and pleasant breeze in this place. They loved it here!
The mount, Oddish, Vileplume, Squirtle, and Jigglypuff, among other Pokemon, wore delighted expressions as they beheld this secret realm.
Was this the "paradise" they had been searching for all along?
Mewtwo had been observing the expressions of these Pokemon, and seeing their apparent delight in this place, it made a decision.
"Let's not rush," Naoki said with a smile. "Why don't we go inside and take a look? Follow me, and I'll take you in."
He stepped forward into the entrance, with a large group of eager Pokemon trailing behind him.
Mewtwo brought up the rear.
Just before officially entering the island, Mewtwo turned to look back in the direction of Giratina.
As Naoki led the way, he kept an eye on the Pokemon, noticing Mewtwo's action and sensing its apparent concern about Giratina.
However, it was only natural for a powerful Pokemon like Mewtwo to have a strong sense of territorial awareness.
As if reading his thoughts, Mewtwo's voice sounded in his mind.
"Will this tree remain in this place?"
Naoki was slightly taken aback but quickly understood Mewtwo's intention.
He shook his head. "Of course not. In another month, by June, the World Tree will be fully grown."
"At that time, Giratina will use its power to help lift the tree into the sky. From then on, only you will live there, undisturbed by humans."
Mewtwo remained silent, deep in thought.
After a while, it asked, "What about you? Will you go and live on the World Tree?"
"Me?" Mewtwo didn't want him to go? But with its human genetic material, Mewtwo instantly understood his thoughts.
It explained, "No, I don't mean anything by it. I'm just asking out of curiosity since you were the one who planted this tree. We should be grateful to you for providing us with such a place."
"I see," Naoki said, understanding.
He shook his head. "No, I won't be living there. I have my own matters to attend to."
After all, he had his ranch to look after.
The thought of leaving his ranch behind to live on the World Tree was unappealing.
Mewtwo nodded.
Naoki continued, "However, I'll occasionally visit the tree to check on how everyone is doing and see if there's anything I can help with."
As they spoke, the group had made their way through the winding tree holes and arrived at the location of the World Tree's elevator.
Naoki taught each Pokemon how to use it—all they needed to do was jump onto the green bubbles to ascend.
Some playful Pokemon, like Pikachu, Skitty, and Whismur, were immediately captivated by this new "toy."
Although they were clones, they were no different from regular Pokemon, still possessing the playful nature inherent to their kind.
Perhaps due to their long suppression, these Pokemon were curious about everything.
Once Naoki finished his explanation, they eagerly began playing on the bubbles.
Naoki and Mewtwo stood below, watching this delightful scene.
After a while, Naoki asked, "Do you want to give it a try?"
Mewtwo: "..."
It turned and said, "Let's keep moving forward."
Hearing this, the playful Pokemon stopped and obediently followed Mewtwo.
Soon, a spacious grassy field came into view, with uniquely shaped structures dotted across it.
They resembled human-built houses.
From a distance, Mewtwo spotted several Pokemon carrying large leaves filled with tree fruit, heading into one of the buildings.
"This is the Adventurer's Guild headquarters," Naoki explained. "As you can see, those buildings are specially constructed for adventurer teams."
"Over there is the dormitory for Pokemon to sleep in, and the grandest building is the Adventurer's Guild headquarters itself. There's also an item shop, a cafeteria, and a sushi restaurant... The park in the center is for Pokemon to relax and unwind."
Hearing this, Mewtwo's eyes widened in surprise.
Noticing its reaction, Naoki smiled and said, "That's right, and the best part is that all the staff and servers here are Pokemon—not a single human!"
Mewtwo muttered in disbelief, "I never thought such a place could exist..."
"Don't underestimate the power of Pokemon," Naoki said, stepping closer to the group of Pokemon beside Mewtwo and introducing them one by one. "Charizard, capable of using fire-type moves to start a fire or provide warmth. Blastoise, able to use Water Gun for irrigation. Vileplume, with its ability to care for crops using Grass-type moves."
"Pikachu and Mareep can provide electricity, Donphan can till the soil, and Sentret and Whismur can act as messengers within the World Tree."
"Pokemon here are self-sufficient. They farm tree fruit, manage the guild, take on missions, and never have to worry about going hungry."
The Pokemon listening to Naoki's words wore expressions of aspiration.
Each time Naoki mentioned a Pokemon's name, their eyes would light up with enthusiasm.
Indeed! Even as clones, they could lead lives just like regular Pokemon in this world! Those who hadn't been mentioned yet looked on with eager anticipation.
Could they truly live together in this place, just as Naoki described? Pokemon who had once suffered at the hands of humans felt a flicker of uncertainty.
A Ride Sheep among them wore a look of sheer terror.
Naoki noticed this particular Ride Sheep and was reminded of the three perpetually dancing Ride Sheep back at his ranch.
However, if he recalled correctly, Ride Sheep didn't appear in the movie "Mewtwo Strikes Back." They were native to the Kalos region and shouldn't be found in the Kanto region.
Not just the Ride Sheep, but also the Mareep, Phanpy, Whismur, Sentret, and Espurr beside it were out of place.
Naoki glanced curiously at Mewtwo, wondering if these Pokemon were under its care.
Mewtwo's voice echoed in Naoki's mind through their psychic connection.
"They were once Pokemon persecuted by humans."
Hearing this, Naoki immediately understood.
No wonder these Pokemon seemed so anxious and fearful...
He reached out and gently patted the Ride Sheep on its head, soothing its emotions.
"Don't worry, everything's fine now. No one here will hurt you. You can live safely and happily in this place."
The Ride Sheep looked at him with a blank expression and bleated, "Meeaah?"
Naoki smiled and said, "You know, I have three Ride Sheep at my ranch. They used to be like you, but now they've grown into reliable Ride Goats. When I have the time, I'll bring them here to meet you and become friends."
"Meeaah...!" The Ride Sheep sensed the kindness emanating from this human and, after a moment of hesitation, its face lit up with joy as it bleated excitedly, "Meeaah!"
Mewtwo watched this interaction silently.
Seeing the once despondent Ride Sheep smile brought a sense of relief to its heart.
It seemed that bringing them to this place was the right decision.
Just then, the native Pokemon of the World Tree noticed the newcomers.
Knowing that Naoki had mentioned new companions would be arriving today, they had gathered here early in the morning.
Miliritus, Menas, Grovyle, Tropius, and Oliver were all present, with the exception of Slowking.
Oliver was the first to welcome the new Pokemon, and Tropius let out a cheerful call, offering the fruit from around its neck as a gesture of goodwill.
The three Miliritus bounced excitedly on the spot.
With the arrival of new Pokemon, did this mean they could finally hire some help for the sushi restaurant?
The question now was, whom should they choose?
Facing the large group of Pokemon, the Miliritus struggled with their indecisiveness.
After a long while, one of the Miliritus shouted.
"Miiii?!?" (Are there any Pokemon who'd like to work with us at our sushi restaurant?!)
Sushi restaurant? Help?
Mewtwo and the other Pokemon were taken aback.
Naoki facepalmed.
He stepped forward, picked up the three Miliritus, and said, "Don't rush into things. The most important task right now is to hold a welcoming feast for our new friends. Once they're familiar with this place, you can invite them to work at the sushi restaurant."
Naoki thought to himself that the sushi restaurant didn't even have any cookware yet, so even with additional staff, they wouldn't be able to open for business.
"Mii..."
The three Miliritus bleated softly, indicating that they would wait a while before recruiting new staff.
It was already midday, and Mewtwo and the other Pokemon, who had traveled through the night, were hungry.
Naoki could even hear the rumbling of their stomachs.
Realizing this, Oliver quickly spoke to Grovyle, and soon several Pokemon returned from the fruit warehouse, carrying an assortment of tree fruit, which they placed before the hungry group.
Mewtwo stood still, not moving.
Naoki glanced at it and asked, "You're not eating?"
Mewtwo shook its head, remaining in place as it wasn't particularly hungry.
"I see," Naoki thought carefully, guessing that Mewtwo could probably supplement its energy by absorbing the energy from the heavens and the earth, just like other Legendary Pokemon.
Legendary Pokemon like it didn't seem to need to eat.
The group enjoyed their meal immensely.
After lunch, Naoki took them to tour other areas of the Adventurer's Guild.
Passing through the woods, they soon came upon an orchard filled with Tree Fruit.
The Pokemon were astonished by the abundance of fruit.
"As you can see, this is the orchard specifically for growing Tree Fruit," Naoki introduced. "The fruit you had for lunch was picked from these very trees."
"Fruits grow on these trees periodically, so you don't have to worry about going hungry or running out of fruit."
Being the World Tree, it continuously provided energy to the fruit trees, ensuring a bountiful harvest.
In a sense, the World Tree was the most ideal place in the world for farming.
The group continued their journey, traversing the orchard, and soon arrived at a vast, open farmland.
Located north of the Adventurer's Guild, this land was flat and fertile, with ample sunlight and a small stream flowing through it.
At the end of the stream stood a hydroelectric mill, where flour was ground.
Naoki intended to transform this area into farmland for growing various crops.
"Pika, Pikachu!" Pikachu looked around at the land before it and asked Naoki a question.
The Rotom Phone automatically translated for the Pikachu.
"What will this land be used for?" it wanted to know.
"It will also be used for growing crops," Naoki replied.
"Meow?" Meowth was puzzled. They already had a large orchard; what other crops would they grow here?
Naoki smiled and said, "In this world, there are many more edible foods besides just Tree Fruit. If we keep eating only Tree Fruit, we'll probably get tired of it pretty quickly, don't you think?"
"So, I plan to grow other crops here, such as rice, wheat, corn, potatoes, and so on."
"Rice can be processed into rice grains, which are then used to make egg fried rice and sushi."
"Wheat can be milled into flour, which can be used to make steamed buns or soft, sweet bread."
"Corn can also be milled into corn flour, and if we use a special machine, we can even make popcorn. Combine that with Cream Fairy's cream, and you've got caramel cream-flavored popcorn—a delicious blend of caramel and cream flavors."
"Additionally, there are crops like carrots, pumpkins, potatoes, watermelons, and more, each of which can be turned into delectable dishes."
Hearing Naoki's words, some of the Pokemon began to drool.
Mewtwo, however, maintained its composure.
It had been quietly listening to Naoki's explanations, and a question formed in its mind.
"Can Pokemon truly accomplish such complex tasks as humans do, like farming?" it wondered.
Mewtwo had figured out Naoki's intentions.
He seemed to want to turn this place into a self-sustaining Pokemon paradise, where Pokemon of different attributes and species could live together harmoniously.
Guild, Adventurer's Guild...
"Is this all for Mew?" Mewtwo mused.
Recalling the delicious human-made treats that Mew had enjoyed, Mewtwo realized that this human truly cared for Mew.
No wonder Mew had taken a liking to him and chosen him.
In contrast, the humans it had encountered left much to be desired.
There were the Pokemon researchers who had created it, using it as a tool for their own purposes, and there was Sakaki, who sought to exploit its power.
Only Satoshi, the young trainer, had shown it a different side of humanity.
Through him, Mewtwo understood that not all humans were greedy, evil, or unscrupulous.
There were still many humans in the world who retained their kindness and treated Pokemon with respect, even going as far as sacrificing their lives to save Pokemon.
Naoki gave the group a brief tour of the World Tree, then decided to let them explore and experience life on the World Tree on their own.
Before leaving, Naoki said to Mewtwo, "This tree has more than just this one area. Below us, there's also an ocean suitable for Water-type Pokemon to inhabit."
"I understand," Mewtwo nodded.
It had already sensed with its telekinetic powers that the interior of this tree was far more expansive than it had anticipated.
"If any Water-type Pokemon aren't accustomed to life here, you can take them to live there," Naoki continued.
He noticed that Mewtwo's team included some Water-type Pokemon.
Gyarados, Blastoise, Golduck, and Vaporeon.
Mewtwo's reply was as concise as always.
"Okay."
After giving his instructions, Naoki turned to leave the World Tree, planning to return in a few days.
He had furniture to prepare for the various facilities of the Adventurer's Guild.
Naoki left.
In an instant, the only ones left on the World Tree were the Pokemon.
