Chapter 443: Ivan: We Must Trust Hals Is a Good Comrade!
Chapter 443: Ivan: We Must Trust Hals Is a Good Comrade!
About my matters?
Ivan was momentarily confused, looking at Severus Snape with a strange expression. It was the first time he had encountered someone coming to report on him while he was disguised as Dumbledore, and the feeling was quite peculiar.
"What's wrong, Albus?" Snape narrowed his eyes, vaguely sensing that the Dumbledore in front of him seemed a bit off. He also recalled that the password to the Headmaster's Office hadn't been changed in a long time, which raised his suspicions.
"No, nothing. I'm just curious what that boy has done this time that requires you to report to me specifically", Ivan shook his head and said solemnly.
Severus Snape fell silent for a moment. He scrutinized "Dumbledore" but found no signs of deception, so he wasn't sure if he was being overly suspicious.
Under normal circumstances, no one would dare use Polyjuice Potion to disguise themselves as Dumbledore and sit in the Headmaster's Office.
Moreover, this morning, Fawkes had been circling above Hogwarts, which he had seen with his own eyes. The person held Dumbledore's usual Elder Wand as well.
With these thoughts, Severus dispelled his doubts and began recounting what had happened the previous night.
He especially emphasized the conflict he had with Sirius Black and how Ivan had used a special Eye Magic to petrify his body.
"To be honest, those eyes gave me a very bad feeling, a bit like that person", Severus recalled, still feeling a sense of dread.
He had only stared into Ivan's eyes for a split second, yet his body had reacted in a way that severely impaired his movements. In that moment, he felt death creeping in, and if the eye contact had lasted any longer, the consequences would have been dire.
Listening to Severus, Ivan immediately realized that his Snake Eyes had frightened the other man, prompting him to come and complain.
However, Ivan felt somewhat helpless. He had gone through so much effort, yet Severus still doubted him over such a trivial matter, which was truly disheartening.
Despite these thoughts, Ivan did not forget his current identity. When he spoke again, his tone changed.
"This is indeed a matter of concern, Severus!"
"Hals is shrouded in many mysteries, and sometimes even I find it hard to understand him", Ivan tried to mimic Dumbledore's potential reaction, speaking with a tone of reflection.
However, Ivan had no intention of criticizing himself, so he quickly shifted his tone, emphasizing that the power of magic was vast and beyond the grasp of any one person. A special Eye Magic that could petrify someone was indeed rare, but there was no need to overreact.
Hals has always been an excellent student, contributing significantly to the peace of the magical world. We cannot harbor prejudice against such an outstanding student simply because of his unique abilities.
Ivan spoke convincingly, aiming to dispel Severus's doubts and assured him that he would personally speak with Mr. Hals when he had the time.
Seeing that Dumbledore didn't seem overly concerned about this special Eye Magic, Severus said nothing more, coldly adding:
"I merely came to remind you of this. If you truly trust him, then so be it."
"Additionally, the Ministry of Magic has requested more Dementors to guard Black and Peter", Severus remembered the main reason for his visit and added.
Dementor?
Upon hearing this news, Ivan couldn't help but frown, not quite understanding what Fudge was up to. He had gone through so much trouble to get the Dementors away, and now Fudge wanted to bring them back.
After the Daily Prophet reported the incident, he and Fudge no longer had conflicts over Sirius and Peter's issues. Both sides needed to ensure that the two of them would live safely until the trial, so Ivan wasn't too worried about Fudge's secret maneuvers.
Severus Snape stared fixedly at "Dumbledore", who seemed lost in thought, and suddenly spoke up. "I hope you remember our agreement!"
"Of course, our agreement is still valid!" Ivan was immediately startled awake. After a moment's thought, he understood what Snape was referring to and nodded in agreement.
"Good!" Snape watched Ivan's expression and reaction throughout. Seeing no hesitation or confusion on Ivan's face, he finally dispelled his last doubts and turned to leave the Headmaster's Office.
After being tested by Snape, Ivan didn't dare to stay in the Headmaster's Office, fearing he might encounter other Professors. He quickly transformed back to his original appearance.
Just as Ivan was about to leave the Headmaster's Office and head to the Gryffindor common room, he ran into Harry and the others.
"Ivan! Did Professor Dumbledore tell you anything? We saw Sirius being taken away by the Ministry of Magic!" Harry immediately approached him, looking very worried.
"Yeah, he won't be sent back to Azkaban, right?" Ron also looked anxious, still thinking about the new pet Sirius had promised him.
Ivan was about to answer when Hermione quickly interjected.
"I've explained this to you before, it shouldn't happen! Sirius has been cleared of suspicion and won't be sent back to Azkaban. I think the Ministry of Magic must have taken them back for questioning!"
As she spoke, Hermione turned to Ivan for confirmation.
"Right, Ivan!"
"No, you're all wrong. Sirius and Peter are currently being held in Hogwarts!" Ivan shook his head and said.
"They're still in Hogwarts? Really? Where?" Harry's worried expression vanished, replaced by excitement. He was eager to see how Sirius was doing.
"I'm sorry, I can't tell you, Harry!" Ivan cruelly rejected Harry's inquiry and continued to explain.
"Sirius is being guarded by the Ministry of Magic's Aurors and cannot meet you. It's best you don't disturb him to avoid causing trouble for Professor Dumbledore!"
Ivan knew all too well about Harry's tendency to get into dangerous situations. If Harry found out that the Ministry had assigned some Dementors to assist in guarding Sirius, he would surely cause another incident.
Therefore, Ivan was firm in not revealing the specific location where Sirius was being held, to prevent them from causing any trouble that he would have to deal with later.
