Chapter 442: Reunion with the Ancient One (Second Update)
"Understood, Lady Carmen!"
As Jerry's words faded, the same sweet voice of Dawn echoed from his bracelet.
Seeing this, Star-Lord's heart sank, and he quickly opened his bracelet to call out again:
"Dawn, Dawn, I order you to come down and pick me up to take me to Contraxia!"
"Sorry, Lord Star-Lord, I cannot come down without Lady Carmen's command."
Dawn's apologetic voice rang through Star-Lord's bracelet, crushing the last bit of hope in his heart. He looked up at Jerry with a mix of anger and sorrow:
"I paid eight hundred million, eight hundred million, and she betrayed me. What did you do to her!"
Jerry smiled slightly:
"Sorry, Quill, you can't go to Ego now. I can't let him absorb the Celestial power in your body, or the universe will be in danger.
But don't worry, once I'm strong enough to kill him, I'll take you there!"
Dawn was born from the will of a supernova explosion, possessing a soul-like attribute, which allowed Jerry to bind her with a contract magic.
To prevent Star-Lord from impulsively flying to Ego after returning to Earth, Jerry secretly bound Dawn to him when she was installed on the Milano.
Without the Milano, Star-Lord couldn't leave Earth, as Earth's technology wasn't advanced enough to create a spaceship capable of spatial jumps.
"Quill, calm down. I think Jerry is right; we should stay on Earth for a while", Gamora, who was clearly more rational, stepped forward to comfort him.
Rocket and the others also came forward to try to reason with Star-Lord, though their methods varied.
For someone like Rocket, who was both proud and sharp-tongued, and someone like Nebula, who was cold and distant, it was impossible to expect them to offer gentle words of comfort.
So, Jerry overheard things like this:
"Quill, can you look in a mirror and see how much power you have? Don't drag the whole universe into your suicide mission. Can't you use your brain? If you can't, I'll lend you mine."
"My eight hundred million..."
After a series of "comforting" words, Star-Lord finally realized his impulsiveness, though he still muttered about his eight hundred million.
"Alright, it's just eight hundred million. Stay on Earth and behave, and I'll give you eight billion when the time comes."
Jerry patted Star-Lord's shoulder and continued:
"I'm going to Kamar-Taj to see the Sorcerer Supreme, the Ancient One. Do you want to come with me, or wait here?"
The Ancient One and Odin had both said they didn't want two Infinity Stones in one person's hands, as it could lead to a major disaster.
Now, he had the Power Stone and the Reality Stone, already breaking that rule.
It was fine while he was in space, but now that he was back on Earth, he needed to inform the Ancient One about the situation.
However, he didn't think it would be a problem.
In the movies, the Ancient One didn't know that Doctor Strange gave the Time Stone to Thanos, which meant she hadn't seen that far into the future.
Moreover, she was focused on waiting for Doctor Strange to take over as the Sorcerer Supreme so she could step down and explore the multiverse.
Once she learned about the threats from Thanos and Ego, she would likely prioritize Earth's safety and not be overly concerned about the Infinity Stones.
Odin, too, was likely in a similar position, with his power waning and only a few years left to live. He would need a powerful ally to face future crises.
"Of course, we'll go with you!"
Star-Lord and the others chimed in unison.
The Sorcerer Supreme, Kamar-Taj, and the mages—Jerry had already given a brief introduction to these places. For adventurers like them, this was an experience they couldn't miss.
"Then let's go!"
With a wave of Jerry's hand, a portal to Kamar-Taj appeared before everyone's eyes.
"Wong, teaching new mages again!"
After passing through the portal to the training grounds at the back of Kamar-Taj, Jerry immediately spotted Wong standing there, guiding the new mages in their spell practice.
The mages of Kamar-Taj have lifespans similar to ordinary humans, only about a century.
Therefore, to continuously protect the Three Sanctums and safeguard Earth from extraterrestrial dimensional beings, it's necessary to constantly recruit new mages to maintain Kamar-Taj's lineage and strength.
Some of these new mages are those who accidentally learn about Kamar-Taj's legends, hear the news, and come seeking to join, passing Kamar-Taj's tests and staying on.
Others are discovered by Kamar-Taj's mages while handling various events around the world and are brought back directly.
These new mages are generally mentored by Wong and Mordo for their initial training.
If they show exceptional talent, they might even be personally taken under the wing of the Ancient One for advanced guidance.
"Oh, Jerry? It's been a long time, where have you been lately?"
Wong turned and, upon seeing Jerry, his face instantly showed surprise.
Previously, Jerry would frequently visit Kamar-Taj to seek Magic advice from the Ancient One and was a regular at the library. He had also become less distant with the mages like Wong.
His sudden disappearance for over half a year without returning to Kamar-Taj naturally came as a surprise to Wong.
"These people are?"
Then, Wong's eyes widened as he saw Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, and Drax emerging from the portal right behind Jerry.
Star-Lord has half-human bloodline, so there was nothing strange about that, but Gamora, Rocket, Groot, and Drax were clearly not from Earth.
"During this time, I traveled to other planets outside Earth. These are friends I met in the universe. By the way, is the Ancient One around? I have something important to discuss with her."
"The Sorcerer Supreme is in the hall, making milk tea!"
Wong, though surprised by the appearance of the aliens, quickly recovered. After all, he had seen many strange beings from other dimensions during his time at Kamar-Taj.
Jerry nodded and then pointed to the six curious figures behind him:
"Alright, Wong, could you please keep an eye on these friends for me?"
With that, he let Star-Lord and the others wander around the courtyard and headed to the hall alone.
Pushing open the wooden door and stepping into the hall, Jerry heard the Ancient One's gentle voice:
"I just made some milk tea and added some boba, as you suggested last time. Would you like a cup?"
Clearly, the Ancient One had already sensed Jerry's presence, even though she was in the hall.
Jerry didn't hesitate, sitting down opposite the Ancient One and using Magic to instantly turn the hot milk tea she poured for him into an iced milk tea:
"Thanks!"
