Chapter 442: Ivan: Severus, How Could You Come to Me to Complain?
Chapter 442: Ivan: Severus, How Could You Come to Me to Complain?
Despite Fudge's inner anger, Dumbledore only needed a nomination, which meant no loss for him.
In return, the support he would gain was real and substantial, making him less passive when facing accusations. With this in mind, Fudge agreed without hesitation.
After a lengthy discussion, the two finally reached an agreement. During the formal trial, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew would be held in the Astronomy Tower at Hogwarts, under the watch of Aurors from the Ministry of Magic.
Ivan had hoped to persuade Fudge to allow him to send someone to supervise, but Fudge firmly refused, as he detested anyone interfering with the Ministry's actions.
To avoid provoking Fudge's sensitive nerves, Ivan had no choice but to let it go. After all, the detention was within Hogwarts, and whether or not there was supervision was up to him.
As they chatted, the group quickly arrived at an Astronomy Tower at the top of the Castle.
"You two stay here and watch them, the rest of you come back to the Ministry with me!"
Fudge tied up Black and Pettigrew and locked them in the Astronomy Tower, then casually pointed at two Aurors to keep watch. He then hurriedly led the remaining Aurors back to the Ministry.
Due to the Daily Prophet's news exposé, Fudge, as the Minister of Magic, had a lot to handle today. His immediate rush to Hogwarts was entirely due to his anger and the need to verify the truth.
"By the way, what about the Dementors that surrounded Hogwarts?" Just as Fudge was about to step out of Hogwarts' gates, he suddenly remembered this and turned to a female Auror to ask.
"Minister, those Dementors violated the Ministry's regulations by attempting to attack students. They have been recalled, and Professor Umbridge has already submitted a report." The female Auror explained.
Fudge nodded, recalling that he had indeed signed that document. "Before the trial, Black and Pettigrew must not be harmed. Go to Azkaban and bring some Dementors to assist in the watch."
The Ministry already had enough troubles, and Fudge did not want any more issues. Therefore, enhancing security was crucial.
Additionally, having Dementors assist in the watch also had a punitive aspect.
Both the escaped Sirius and that damn Peter Pettigrew had infuriated Fudge.
Fudge had been seething with anger at Hogwarts all morning, with no outlet for his frustration. He could not retaliate against Dumbledore, but making these two prisoners suffer a bit was no problem!
"Send someone tonight to interrogate them and get the full story. I want this report on my desk by tomorrow morning at the latest!" Fudge gave his instructions and then stepped out of the Hogwarts Castle, Apparating away.
"Finally done!"
Back in the Headmaster's Office, Ivan watched through the window as Fudge and his group left Hogwarts, and he couldn't help but sigh in relief.
The biggest hurdle was over, and now he just needed to wait for the formal trial.
But what about the Daily Prophet?
Thinking about this, Ivan felt a bit awkward. He seemed to have inadvertently put them in a difficult position.
Oh well, he would just find a way to smooth things over. Could a politician's promise be considered a breach of contract?
Maybe it would be better to let Dumbledore handle it himself.
Ivan quickly put this troublesome matter out of his mind, sat down at his desk, and took out Dumbledore's magical letter from the drawer. He prepared to write a nomination letter to the Order of Merlin, applying for the Order of Merlin, First Class for his achievements.
With Fudge's promise, having two major figures in the magical world initiate the nomination, Ivan felt that this matter was quite stable.
After all, he had accomplished so much in recent years, driving away the remnant soul of Voldemort and destroying two Horcruxes.
Ivan believed that even if Dumbledore were here, he would definitely commend his achievements. To alleviate the old Professor's burden, he decided to handle it himself, sparing the other party the trouble.
Fawkes, the Phoenix, who was perched on the Olive Branch, flew over, scanning the content of the letter with his eyes, which flickered with a hint of disdain.
"Help me deliver this letter to the Grand Master of the Order of Merlin!" Ivan stuffed the Envelope directly into Fawkes' mouth, then stroked the feathers under the Phoenix's neck.
Suddenly, Fawkes burst into a scorching flame, the fire splashing onto Ivan's fingers, startling him. Fortunately, this fire did not harm him.
Ivan then realized that Fawkes was deliberately teasing him. Just as he was about to retaliate with a fierce gesture, Fawkes' figure had already disappeared in the Headmaster's Office.
Ivan composed his expression. After spending some time together, Fawkes was no longer as averse to him and would even play these little jokes with him.
Although it was still a long way before he could gain enough favor to draw blood, what troubled Ivan even more was the issue of Legendary Points.
Exchanging for one system protection mode required a total of five Legendary Points, and he currently had only two.
If he could successfully obtain the Order of Merlin, First Class, he might earn one more point, but he would still be far short.
But where could he get Legendary Points?
Ivan recalled the times he had earned Legendary Points before, which could be roughly divided into two categories. One was like being the Werewolf Saviour or Dragon Knight, widely known deeds.
The other was like being the Heir of Slytherin or the Basilisk, lesser-known but highly legendary experiences.
Comparatively, creating a big news story seemed easier.
How about running around Hogwarts bare-chested in the guise of Dumbledore tomorrow?
That would definitely cause a sensation in the magical world!
Ivan thought of various mischievous ideas, but he didn't have the courage to actually carry them out.
If he really dared to do such a thing, even if Dumbledore had very important matters, he would probably come to find him and settle the score immediately.
Sigh, I am really in a difficult position!
Ivan sighed inwardly.
Rumble
At that moment, the sound of stone blocks grinding against each other came from outside the door. Ivan's expression tensed; he knew that this was a sign that someone was about to enter the Headmaster's Office.
Sure enough, a familiar figure soon appeared at the entrance to the Headmaster's Office.
"Severus? You're here at this time. Is there something important you need to report?" Ivan raised an eyebrow, looking somewhat surprised.
"Yes, I think there's something you should know. It's about our genius student, Ivan Hals." Severus, dressed in his black robes, stepped into the Headmaster's Office, his words tinged with either praise or mockery.
