Chapter 442: Cao Cao in the Enemy's Camp, Heart with the Resistance
Chapter 442: Cao Cao in the Enemy's Camp, Heart with the Resistance
"Let's see..." Emperor Manina XIII stroked his chin, deep in thought.
Finally, he shook his head. "I think it's best not to tamper with Evolution. First, our people can't leave the psychic spring, so they can't really sabotage the game servers. Second, Evolution is a world created by the Holy Silver Federation, and they likely have other uses for it. We can't afford to offend them."
"Understood, Your Majesty," Lance nodded.
Manina picked up a glass of Lekot juice and took a sip, then looked at the Commander-in-Chief. "Lance, you saw Su Yu's performance today, didn't you?"
"Of course," Lance replied solemnly.
Manina leaned back in his chair, his expression serious. "Issue the order to upgrade all the defenses of our expeditionary bases starting now."
"The small spring bases are more challenging to upgrade, so we'll focus our resources on the large and giant spring bases."
"Within two days, I want all the large and larger bases to be able to withstand attacks from Seventh-Rank Legends and above. This way, we won't have to worry about Su Yu's threat for a long time."
Lance knelt on one knee, his right hand on the ground, his head bowed low. "As you command, Your Majesty."
"Rise," Manina changed his posture and said calmly.
He then turned to his Intelligence Minister. "Shiwen, how is the 'Gravitational Funnel' plan progressing?"
"Your Majesty, the 'Gravitational Funnel' plan is proceeding smoothly," the Intelligence Minister stood up quickly and bowed deeply. "The 'Gravitational Funnel' was completed at 9:46 AM today and passed the first phase test at 3:21 PM without any issues."
"Excellent!" Manina smiled in satisfaction and drained his second glass of Lekot juice. "Send someone to the Arctic to inform Lord Plant of this. We need to expedite the pressure on that human from Earth."
He paused for a moment.
Then he turned to the young Earthling serving as a translator. "What is the name of that Earth human in the Arctic?"
The young Earthling bowed deeply. "Your Majesty, his name is 'Cao Cao.'"
Manina nodded and turned back to Intelligence Minister Shiwen. "Have Lord Plant pressure Cao Cao to surrender as soon as possible."
"Of course, Your Majesty," Shiwen replied immediately.
But at that moment, Commander Lance raised his head, his face filled with concern. "But, Your Majesty, I have a question."
"Oh? What is it?" Manina fixed his gaze on Lance.
"If this Earth human, Cao Cao, as the Earthlings say, is 'in the enemy's camp but his heart is with the resistance,' what should we do?"
"If he only pretends to surrender and isn't sincere, he might turn against us in the future. Please consider this, Your Majesty."
Upon hearing Lance's words, Manina crossed his legs and smiled confidently.
"That's something Plant and I have already considered. Before the war begins, we'll extract every bit of his value, leaving him no choice but to rely on us for any chance of survival. But let's not discuss it further."
After speaking so much, Manina felt a bit tired.
He waved his hand. "That's all for today. Dismissed!"
"Your Majesty," at this moment, Intelligence Minister Shiwen asked flatteringly, "There's another live stream by Su Yu tomorrow night. Will you be watching?"
"Do I look like someone with that much free time?" Manina glared at him.
"Of course not, Your Majesty," Shiwen replied quickly, beads of cold sweat forming on his forehead.
It seemed like he had kissed up to the wrong person.
"Enough!" Manina waved his hand, slightly annoyed. "If Su Yu starts another live stream, just have your intelligence department report back to me after they've reviewed it."
"Yes, Your Majesty!" Xion replied.
...
Just then, Xion's communicator, hanging from his waist, started beeping urgently.
Xion had set his communicator to silent mode before meeting with the Emperor, so it only made that sound in the event of an extremely urgent and important matter. He quickly pulled out his communicator and looked at the screen.
Upon seeing the message, his usually ruddy face turned deathly pale. (Skrull skin is typically green, but the facial skin of the Sunlight Empire's royal family is a distinctive red, with a more vivid red indicating purer blood.)
He immediately knelt down and said to Manina, "Your Majesty! I've just received a report that the 056th Expeditionary Base is under attack! The attackers are Su Yu and the blue-skinned female from the video!"
"What?!" Manina's expression changed dramatically.
The Expeditionary Bases were numbered based on the size of their psychic springs. The spring at Yunlu Mountain, for instance, was designated as 001.
Now, with the 056th Expeditionary Base under attack, it was clear that 056 was situated at a large psychic spring!
Manina had thought that Su Yu would be quiet after the live stream, but the guy had turned around and launched an attack!
"Xion, do you have live footage?" Manina's expression was grave.
"Of course, Your Majesty." Xion quickly opened his communicator and transmitted the live feed from his subordinate to the large screen in the meeting hall.
After a brief loading period, the live footage appeared before them.
The screen showed a large Skrull Expeditionary Base located at the peak of Mount Wuling, the highest point in the Yan Mountains.
This massive base housed 324 spaceships, which was 23 times more than the "Yan One" base! The three core structures within the base were also far more grand and imposing than those in "Yan One."
Currently, the protective shield of this large Expeditionary Base had been torn open, leaving a wide, cross-shaped gash.
Above the base, a gigantic blue dragon was wreaking havoc, spewing dragonfire. Behind it, a host of summoned creatures followed closely: a Moon Goddess Phantom, a Diamond Golem, and Arcane Puppets.
A Skrull Saint-Class Psionic Mech Pilot, clad in a red mech, was trying to stop the blue dragon's assault.
But he was no match for the dragon.
Even as the blue dragon had to divert some of its attention to the various laser weapons from the base, the Skrull Saint-Class pilot was still being overwhelmed, forced to flee in panic from the dragonfire.
"That's Ovium!" Manina recognized the Saint-Class mech pilot.
Ovium was a member of the Sunlight Empire, with royal blood, and considered one of their elite. Manina couldn't believe he was being so thoroughly dominated by Su Yu.
"Hmph, what a disgrace!" Manina felt his face burn with shame as he watched Ovium struggle.
Xion wiped the sweat from his brow, preparing to say something along the lines of "he's doing his best" to give the Emperor a way to save face.
But at that moment, a blinding golden light suddenly erupted on the screen!
