Chapter 441: Thighs Galore
Chapter 441: Thighs Galore
"Fellow senior brothers and sisters, it has been a privilege to participate in this small pill refining exchange meeting. I, your junior brother, have benefited greatly and learned a lot from all of you, and I am eternally grateful."
After the exchange session ended, Lu Chen stepped forward and expressed his sincerity.
"In pill refining, I am still a newcomer, but when it comes to cultivating spirit herbs, I am quite confident."
"If any senior brothers or sisters obtain spirit herbs that they are unsure of cultivating, you can entrust them to me, and I guarantee success."
"The stranger and rarer the spirit herb, the better. I enjoy the challenge of cultivating unique spirit herbs."
"Additionally, if any of you happen to come across unknown spirit herb seeds, feel free to find me for an exchange of other treasures or purchase them with spirit stones and sword seals. I assure you, the prices will not disappoint."
Lu Chen enthusiastically promoted himself, taking the opportunity to familiarize himself with the few Dan Dao masters present.
The Dan Palace was the wealthiest power within Tian Jian Zong, and these fellow disciples were the most outstanding pill refiners within the Dan Palace.
Most of the spirit stones within the palace were in the hands of these few Dan Dao masters, and they might send precious and rare spirit herb seeds Lu Chen's way one day.
Hearing Lu Chen's words, the few Dan Dao masters readily agreed.
A spirit herb cultivator and pill refiners were like kindling and flame, a match made in heaven.
Lu Chen returned to his cave abode with the promises of his fellow disciples.
Half a day passed in a blink of an eye as he tended to his spirit herb fields.
A flash of red light appeared, and Huo Lin'er, clad in a bright red robe, materialized outside the waist-high formation.
"Huo Lin'er, it's been a while. How have you been?" Lu Chen asked as he quickly opened the flowing light formation to let the true disciple enter.
"Lu Chen, I saw you cultivating spirit herbs as soon as I arrived!" Huo Lin'er exclaimed with a smile on his youthful face, sounding rather pompous.
Lu Chen led him into the courtyard and served spirit fruits and tea.
"The spirit fruits and tea you have here are quite delicious, Lu Chen," Huo Lin'er praised after tasting the fruit.
"I came here today because I have something to ask of you." Huo Lin'er composed himself and spoke solemnly.
"Please speak, senior brother," Lu Chen said in a low voice.
"As far as I know, you seem to have a close relationship with the descendants of the sect's two great guardian spirit beasts, am I right?" Huo Lin'er inquired. He had encountered the White Jade Qingtian Ape and the Xuan Tian Luan Bird when he helped Lu Chen kill the evil cultivator who was after the Saint Infant Fruit.
Although the two spirit beasts were of extremely high rank, they were still in their growth phase and rarely left the sect.
The fact that Lu Chen could invite them out and join forces against the evil cultivator spoke volumes about their friendship.
"Yes, I do have some friendship with the White Ape and the Luan Bird," Lu Chen admitted honestly, with no intention to hide the truth.
On the day they dealt with the evil cultivator who was after the Saint Infant Fruit, not only Huo Lin'er but also Ge Pu and Zhong Jing Shan, the two other true disciples, had witnessed the appearance of the two spirit beasts. There was no point in concealing his relationship with them.
"A long time ago, when I was picking spirit fruits in my cave abode, the White Ape and the Luan Bird were attracted by the fragrance of the fruits I had planted. So, I gave them some to taste," Lu Chen explained.
"That's how our friendship began. Over time, we became acquainted and formed an interracial friendship."
His story was half-true, half-false.
"My visit today is also somewhat related to them," Huo Lin'er continued.
"The White Jade Qingtian Ape and the Xuan Tian Luan Bird are both guardian spirit beasts of our sect, and they are of the highest rank."
"These spirit beasts have multiple uses. Those with exceptional bloodlines and powerful strength can guard the sect, while ordinary guardian spirit beasts can be used to guard dangerous places within the sect, serve as large-scale long-distance transportation, seal evil demons, and more.
Lu Chen's heart skipped a beat. The White Jade Qingtian Ape and the Xuan Tian Luan Bird were already considered his ticket to success, but now it seemed that they had even more powerful elders backing them up—a ticket to an even bigger opportunity.
"Usually, a Core Formation master uncle is in charge of that blessed land. Recently, however, he has had to leave for other matters. The other master uncles are either traveling the world, in seclusion, or tied up with trivial matters, leaving the place unattended."
"Originally, a true disciple was supposed to take care of the blessed land in their absence, but the ones who remained in the sect aren't skilled in dealing with spirit beasts. That's why I recommended you, junior brother, to the master uncle."
Huo Lin'er explained slowly.
"Are you suggesting that I tend to the sect's protective spirit beasts, which possess the strength of Core Formation cultivators?" Lu Chen asked, unable to hide his surprise.
"Each spirit beast has its own caretaker. As for the elders of the White Ape and Luan Bird, they have a high degree of freedom. Your task, junior brother, is to keep an eye on them and gently discipline them if they step out of line."
"Even a fourth-grade protective spirit beast will obediently follow your commands."
Upon hearing this, Lu Chen lowered his head, pondering the potential gains and losses of such an arrangement.
The benefits were obvious—he would have the chance to meet a Core Formation master uncle and possibly make a good impression, gaining a valuable opportunity.
As for the potential drawbacks, although Lu Chen was confident in his ability to learn the detailed conditions of the spirit beasts and adapt his care accordingly, he wasn't so sure about facing beasts with Core Formation strength.
The vast difference in strength meant that even with knowledge of their conditions, they might not willingly submit to his discipline. If something went wrong, Lu Chen would likely be held responsible.
"Senior Brother Huo, my cultivation is average. There's a fellow disciple named Zhong Hao who has higher cultivation than me—he's at the late stage of the Foundation Establishment. He also has a unique talent for taming spirit beasts, and he might be a better choice to oversee the protective spirit beasts."
After some hesitation, Lu Chen suggested this alternative to Huo Lin'er.
"Hahaha, junior brother Lu, you and he think alike!"
"Some other senior brothers have already approached Zhong Hao about this, and he told them that he highly respects you, junior brother Lu, and even said that your spirit beast taming skills far surpass his own."
The burly cultivator Zhong Hao had been completely won over by Lu Chen's skill when he helped him solve the problem with the Yin-Growling Beasts and the mysterious food-colored insects.
"This Zhong Hao sure knows how to flatter," Lu Chen muttered to himself.
"Junior brother Lu, rest assured," Huo Lin'er said, sensing Lu Chen's worry. "These spirit beasts have been completely tamed by the sect, and even if they have some quirks, they won't cause any real harm. Taking care of them isn't difficult, and if you do well, there could be great opportunities. I recommended you to the Core Formation master uncle because I truly believe in your spirit beast taming abilities."
"Alright, then," Lu Chen finally decided. "I'll go to this blessed land and see if I'm up to the task. If I am, I'll temporarily manage the secret realm, but if I'm not capable enough, then I'll have to decline."
"So, it's about taming these big opportunities, huh?" Lu Chen thought to himself. "If I can tame the little opportunities, then why not the big ones, too?"
