Chapter 440: Settling the Score!
Chapter 440: Settling the Score!
Reneetia had no interest in dealing with any intruding pirates.
Punk Hazard was too close to the Red Soil Continent, which meant that anyone who reached this place was either a newcomer to the New World or a weakling who dared not venture deep into the New World and could only hover in the front half of the front half.
Regardless of which type they were, they didn't pique Reneetia's interest.
She hadn't come to help Caesar deal with things in the first place.
About a dozen teenagers emerged from the laboratory in the back.
"Lady Reneetia!"
"Lord Wibul!"
The group, upon seeing them, smiled happily and shouted excitedly.
"Yo!"
Reneetia greeted them, "How are you all doing? Has Caesar, that idiot, mistreated you? Forced you to conduct experiments you didn't like? Rest assured, Sage sent you here to learn, and you also represent Sage's reputation outside. If anyone bullies you, I'll bash them to death with my hammer!"
Caesar wiped the sweat off his head and could only respond with a forced smile.
What kind of talk is this?
Which family is here to learn, and they're so arrogant?
Is this even learning?
But what could he do?
His backer was Doflamingo, and Doflamingo's true backer was now Cataclysm.
No matter how well the SAD ingredients sold, they couldn't compare to the all-encompassing cooperation between Cataclysm and Doffy.
The student sent by the backer's backer—he was genuinely teaching with all his heart, fearing that one day he might fail to produce the universal antibiotic and, at the very least, escape death due to certain circumstances.
Although he couldn't be too sure, what if...
"I'll go get the medicine and the formula."
Seeing that no one cared about him, Caesar could only obediently step aside and head towards the laboratory to prepare the relevant research materials and the formula for the finished product medicine.
He didn't want to meet Reneetia either; later, he would have his subordinates deliver the formula and medicine.
This research facility wasn't small; there were three entrances alone. He'd avoid the jinx for now and wait until these ancestors left before saying anything.
He walked down the corridor, passing by a room where he happened to see the pirates who had been knocked out and brought in.
An orange-haired woman, a buzz-cut hunk, a man in a black suit with curled eyebrows, and a... tanuki cat?
"Just these?"
"Yes, Master. When we passed by, there were only these people. It seems other pirates have intruded into Flame Island. Additionally, we found a skeleton, probably killed during a pirate dispute."
The person wearing a gas mask and covered head to toe in protective gear spoke.
"Aren't pirates just like this? Forget it; we'll use them as new test subjects."
Caesar lost interest and left the room, heading towards his second laboratory.
The research on SAD, gigantification, universal medicine, and his own poison gas research were naturally divided into four different directions, each with its own focus.
But just as he arrived at the lab, a subordinate came to report.
A warship had broken through the icebergs blocking the way and was heading towards the main gate of the island. Leading the way was the current G-5 branch vice admiral, Smoker.
"The Navy?"
Caesar was taken aback, "What are the Navy doing here? This island has been designated a hazard zone, and usually, no one comes here."
As he spoke, his expression darkened, "Damn it, why did they have to come now of all times!"
"Leave it to me."
Suddenly, a man wearing a spotted straw hat appeared at the door, leaning against it and glancing at Caesar.
"Law?"
Caesar turned to look, then thought of something and smiled sinisterly, "Well, as a member of the Seven Warlords, they won't dare do anything to you. Go on, but don't cause a big scene. I have a distinguished guest here."
Law's eyes flickered, "I did hear that you have some important guests. Who are these esteemed guests?"
"Shush, our agreement doesn't include that, does it?"
Caesar laughed, "Then, I'll leave it to you."
Law remained silent for a moment, not responding, as he embraced his sword and headed towards one of the exits.
Caesar's smile widened, and a hint of disdain could be seen in his eyes.
Both were members of the Seven Warlords, but Caesar had one attitude towards Doflamingo and another towards Law, who had taken the initiative to seek him out recently.
No matter how powerful one's status was, they were ultimately just a kid and couldn't compare to those with more experience.
It wasn't about seniority; it was simply a matter of the different powers they wielded.
The new generation of pirates, whether in terms of power or experience, did not match up to the older generation.
The only one who defied this logic was the Cataclysm.
With Law's departure, Caesar turned his full attention to his research in the laboratory.
"What kind of guest?"
Law walked down the corridor, deep in thought.
He hadn't seen the visitor, but judging by Caesar's reaction, this person was no ordinary fellow.
Doflamingo?
No, that guy wouldn't show up so easily.
If it were one of his underlings, Caesar wouldn't have that expression.
The visitor must be someone extraordinary. But that wasn't important now; G-5 was the priority!
What were those guys up to? Were they really just chasing after pirates?
Or were they afraid the pirates would disrupt the experiments here?
After all, G-5 couldn't be trusted.
Just as Law was about to continue speaking, a strange noise came from behind him.
Bang! The door was kicked open, and a group of children and several oddly dressed individuals rushed out.
...
Two hours later.
"When can we go back, Renetia?"
A group of ten or so children and teenagers gathered around Renetia, one of them asking, "We've learned what we needed to, and the rest requires a lot of practice. We've basically mastered Caesar's methods."
Those chosen to come here were all intelligent individuals. Even before Sage decided to focus on medicine, he had selected a group of bright children for Hagubak to lead.
After discovering Caesar, an even more select group of the brightest among them was chosen to learn Caesar's pharmaceutical theories.
They didn't need anything else; they just needed to focus on studying medicine.
In a year, they had made good progress, and while they might not be able to produce new drugs yet, they had mastered the basics.
"I'll inform Sage."
Despite being younger than them, Renetia assumed a mature demeanor, "When Sage asks you to return, you can come back."
"Alright, Renetia."
The speaking teenager lowered his head to organize some documents, placing them and the medicine into a large leather suitcase, "These are Caesar's products from the past few months, capable of treating 80% of the diseases we currently encounter."
A waiting pirate took the suitcase, while the others drew their weapons, forming a protective circle.
"Alright, let's go. Study hard and don't let Sage down. Contact us if you have any issues."
Renetia bared her small fangs and stood up to leave, but just then, the door to the lounge was pushed open, and Monet entered with a man wearing a plaid coat and lightning-shaped sideburns.
"Sorry, but we'll have to detain you for a while."
The man spoke solemnly, "There are some issues we need to address."
"Hmm?"
Renetia raised an eyebrow, "Who are you?"
"Vergo."
Monet chuckled lightly, "Renetia, he's the base commander of the G-5 Navy branch and one of the Young Master's core officers. He joined the Navy fifteen years ago and is one of ours."
"The Navy? Ah, I see. You're like those under us, working two jobs!"
Renetia chuckled, "What's the matter?"
"It's just a small matter. Some intruders were here earlier, exposing this place's secrets, and even the Navy found out. We need to take care of them to ensure this place remains undiscovered."
Vergo addressed Renetia, "Of course, I know this has nothing to do with you, but Caesar has served Cataclysm, and handling it properly might be better. Please give us some time."
"Tsk, what a nuisance."
Renetia sat back down, "Hey, Monet, prepare some refreshments again."
While Renetia had no intention of disrupting Sage's plans, she couldn't be bothered with these pirate invasion affairs.
What position did she hold that required her to join the battle?
"Alright, just a moment."
Monet walked to the bar, poured a glass of juice, added some snacks, and placed them on the coffee table. She then returned to the bar, took out a book, and began flipping through it while making notes.
"It seems like Smoker is helping them too. Vergo, this time, it's completely exposed." Monet pushed up the temporary glasses she was wearing and turned to speak.
"It's fine."
Vergo said, "As long as we take care of them here, I'll report it as a maritime catastrophe. As for Law...Monet, I remember you have his heart, right?"
"It's gone."
Monet explained, "He seems to have discovered something."
As she spoke, she gave an ambiguous glance at Renetia, who was eating snacks, and said, "But my heart is still in his hands, which is quite troublesome. Vergo, you must find him, and..."
Flipping through the book, several portraits were already drawn on it, "If I'm not mistaken, the intruders should be the Straw Hat Pirates who disappeared two years ago. They've formed an alliance with Law to deal with this place, it seems."
"It doesn't matter. We're not weak either; Caesar can handle it." Vergo stood up, "Now, let's go deal with that idiot Law first and teach him the price of betrayal."
"Who are you talking about?"
Renetia, who was eating snacks, suddenly exclaimed, "Straw Hat?!"
"Yes, Straw Hat, from the same batch as you."
Monet nodded, "They've infiltrated here, and they're probably still inside the research facility. But rest assured, they won't make it this far."
"Straw Hat Kid?!"
A red dot flashed in Renetia's eyes, and she opened her small mouth to reveal her sharp teeth, "Great! He's here! Wibble!"
"Big Sis, this is delicious."
At that moment, Wibble was squatting behind the sofa, devouring the secret cakes one by one.
"Stop eating!"
Renetia took out a hammer and tapped him, "Wake up! We've found the Straw Hat who stole Sage's treasure. Our boss wants us to teach him a lesson!"
Wibble swallowed the cakes in his hand in one go, picked up the Cloud Slash on the ground, and his eyes gleamed with ferocity.
Thud!
He took a step, causing the entire lounge to shake.
"The boss's treasure...teach him a lesson! Teach that Straw Hat a lesson!"
"And Law! That bastard who owes fifty-two billion, I was going to chase him for the debt, but now we'll settle it together! Monet, do you want to return to your original form?"
"If possible, I'm tired of being this bird-like person now." Monet smiled.
Renetia suddenly jumped onto Wibble's shoulders, her eyes flashing red dots. She extended her Perception Color, pointed in a direction, and said, "Let's go, Wibble!"
"Roar!"
Wibble slashed a chunk of the wall, creating a hole, and charged straight through it.
"Idiot! I told you to take the proper path!"
Bang!
Within the hole, the sound of a head being struck and Wibble's pitiful cries echoed.
Vergo and Monet exchanged glances, and the latter chuckled, "I never thought that such words would ensure safety."
"Triphaze and that Hammer Smash...is Perception Color that wide?"
Vergo thought for a moment, then stepped out of the lounge, "It's better to be more cautious. I'll personally handle the G-5 Navy so they won't have a chance to call for reinforcements. Otherwise, the presence of a Four Emperors' member here might cause a commotion at headquarters."
"It's up to you, anyway..."
Monet whispered, "All for the Young Master."
