Chapter 440: Intelligent System "Dawn" (Second Update)
Chapter 440: Intelligent System "Dawn" (Second Update)
"Putting on clothes causes friction, and I'm very sensitive!"
Dreks explained matter-of-factly.
As soon as he finished speaking, Rocket, who was piloting the ship, couldn't help but burst into laughter:
"Hahaha, my goodness, I'm dying of laughter."
"Everyone on our planet is like this; no one wears a shirt!"
Dreks glared at Rocket, who was mocking him.
"Not even the women?"
Jerry was taken aback.
Dreks nodded:
"Of course not. I really don't understand why you all, men and women, like to wear shirts. Doesn't it hurt?"
"Such a wonderful planet, such a wonderful culture, and it's all gone now. Ronan is truly despicable!"
Star-Lord, after hearing Dreks' response, couldn't help but show a look of regret.
Jerry could only sigh, marveling at how vast the universe was, with so many wonders.
And Star-Lord's tastes were really something!
Perhaps, if he had the time in the future, he could explore more. There seemed to be many beautiful sights in the universe that he hadn't seen yet.
After ten days, they passed through eight spatial jump points, and a familiar blue planet finally came into view.
"Is this your home planet, Earth? It looks beautiful!"
Rocket remarked from the pilot's seat.
Star-Lord, looking at the Earth ahead, seemed to be lost in thought for a moment before he replied:
"Yes, it was just as beautiful when Yondu took me away."
"Quill, have Dawn activate the signal shielding mode. This isn't just any ordinary planet!"
Gamora reminded him from the side.
Although Earth appeared to be a planet that hadn't yet ventured into space, with humans having relatively low physical strength—many of them would be out of breath after running a few hundred meters—it was undeniable that the upper limit of human potential on Earth was terrifying.
For example, the powerful Mage Jerry Carmen.
Even her overbearing adoptive father, Thanos, had some reservations about Earth.
She remembered three years ago when Thanos sent the formidable Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf with a massive Chitauri Army to Earth. At the time, she thought another planet was about to be destroyed.
But to her surprise, both Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf were defeated on Earth, and the usually ruthless Thanos didn't follow up by leading his entire army to attack. Instead, he swallowed his pride for the time being.
She suspected it might have something to do with the powerful Asgardians, or perhaps it was related to Jerry.
She had always found Jerry familiar, and it finally dawned on her that Thanos had once mentioned that Ebony Maw was killed by an Earth mage. She was almost certain that mage was Jerry.
"Earth has a group of beings known as superheroes. Many of them are quite powerful, and some are my friends. Once we get there, I can introduce you to them!"
Jerry smiled when he saw Gamora turn to look at him.
After watching Marvel movies and TV shows for ten years, Jerry understood that despite Earth's seemingly underdeveloped technology, it was a deeply complex place.
There were all sorts of heroes, villains, and hidden masters, whose strength would be formidable even in the universe.
So, what Gamora said wasn't far off the mark!
"Relax, the Milano is equipped with the most advanced technology. With Earth's current level, there's no way they can detect us. Buckle up, we're preparing to land!"
Star-Lord's expression was somewhat dismissive.
In his mind, Earth was still the same as it was twenty years ago when he left. Even if it had developed, it couldn't have progressed that quickly.
He had spent twelve billion on the Milano. Even the defense systems of Xandar might not be able to detect him.
"Dawn, activate stealth mode!"
As the Milano entered the atmosphere and approached New York based on the coordinates Jerry input, Star-Lord immediately commanded from the control panel.
A sweet voice responded from within the ship:
"Yes, my dear master!"
The entire Milano then entered stealth mode.
"Sister, I don't know why, but I always feel that it's different from a regular AI system!"
Nebula, sitting behind Gamora, heard Dawn's voice, which seemed to carry a hint of emotion, and voiced her confusion.
Gamora shook her head:
"Maybe you get what you pay for. You should know that most of the money Quill spent on upgrading the Milano went into this AI system, Dawn. It must have some unique qualities."
"Of course, Dawn isn't just any AI system!"
Star-Lord proudly lifted his head and then said to the control panel:
"Dawn, Dawn, who is the most handsome man in the universe?"
"Of course, my beloved... uh, Lord Star-Lord!"
Dawn's sweet voice echoed through the ship, but this time, her answer was less confident.
Nebula and Gamora exchanged glances and looked at Star-Lord with a gaze that suggested they thought he was an idiot.
Jerry also chuckled and shook his head.
Actually, when a black market dealer recommended Dawn to Star-Lord, he was initially reluctant to buy it. After all, an AI system worth eight billion was simply too expensive. He wasn't that foolish.
In the end, he bought it because Jerry had told him it was worth every bit of the eight billion.
Trusting Jerry's judgment, he reluctantly paid the eight billion and installed the AI system "Dawn" on the newly renovated ship.
In fact, he didn't lose out. When Jerry first saw the AI system Dawn, he immediately sensed something unusual. He could clearly feel that Dawn was more than just a simple AI system; it had a soul and a special power within it.
He believed that if Dawn could integrate with the Milano and be nurtured over time, it might eventually become a ship as powerful as his Asgard.
To learn more about Dawn's true origins from the black market dealer, he had used the Mind Control Spell on the dealer.
It turned out that Dawn was created when they accidentally absorbed something from a supernova using special instruments, and it merged with the AI system.
Because they found it unique, they sold it at a high price, but unfortunately, no one had fallen for it until now.
Two minutes later, in an uninhabited area on the outskirts of New York.
Jerry and the others stepped out of the still-invisible Milano.
"Dawn, you stay in stealth mode in the air. I'll call you if anything happens!"
Star-Lord took a deep breath of Earth's air and waved to the ship.
Dawn acknowledged and then piloted the Milano to a high altitude.
