Chapter 44: A Chance Encounter with Tsunade
Chapter 44: A Chance Encounter with Tsunade
In the Land of Fire
In a small town within the Land of Fire, Feng Ye, donning the forehead protector of Konoha, led the way for his companions as they sought a place to rest for the day.
"We'll stop here for now," Feng Ye announced to the group, which included Pu Budai and Maitadai, who both nodded in agreement.
It had been almost a week since they left Konoha, and they were now traveling towards the borders of the Land of Fire. The further they ventured, the more tense the atmosphere became in the towns they passed through.
"Welcome!" greeted the receptionist at the hot spring inn, offering a polite smile upon noticing Feng Ye's ninja headband.
The ninja of Konoha were renowned for maintaining peace in the Land of Fire, and their extraordinary powers set them apart from ordinary folk.
After checking in and choosing their accommodations, Feng Ye turned to Maitadai, "Senior, please keep an eye on things here. I'll go scout the town briefly."
"Leave it to me," Maitadai affirmed, standing guard in the corridor with a serious expression.
Feng Ye removed his forehead protector and concealed his ninjato, White Fang, within his sleeve before discreetly leaving the inn to gather information in the town.
Despite their formidable abilities, where they could easily adapt to any unforeseen circumstances, Feng Ye believed it prudent to gather intelligence. After all, they might stumble upon valuable information or even encounter scouts from the Rock Village.
Quickly disposing of any potential enemies could provide them with useful insights.
Before long, Feng Ye had completed a circuit of the town.
"!"
Just as he was performing a routine check, he sensed something that immediately raised his guard—the distinct chakra fluctuations of a ninja. But these chakra fluctuations, though faint, felt profound and unlike those of an ordinary ninja.
"At least a jonin... possibly even a kage-level ninja," Feng Ye mused, inhaling sharply.
This was an unexpected development, and he instantly activated his Triple Speed, heightening his alertness to the maximum.
"Feng Ye?" came a vaguely familiar voice at that moment.
And then, a familiar figure appeared in the distance, looking in his direction. It was none other than his classmate, Shizune, who lowered the kunai in her hand and exclaimed in surprise, "So, it was your chakra I sensed."
"Shizune?" Feng Ye paused, taken aback.
If Shizune was here, then the owner of that extraordinary chakra he sensed must be...
Just then, the sound of something shattering emanated from a nearby gambling house, followed by the patter of running footsteps. A familiar figure burst out, calling out to Shizune, "Shizune! Let's get out of here, now!"
"Eh? Tsunade-sama..." Shizune stammered, taken aback as she saw the crowd of angry gamblers wielding clubs chasing after them, shouting and yelling. She quickly snapped out of her daze and hurried after Tsunade.
After catching up with Tsunade in a few strides, Shizune glanced back at the pursuing mob and asked, "Tsunade-sama... what's going on?"
"Ahaha, I accidentally lost everything, including the money I borrowed. Let's just run for now!" Tsunade replied, her eyes wide with panic.
"Eh?! How is that possible? You had so many chips when I left!" Shizune exclaimed, her eyes widening in disbelief. There was no time to dwell on the details, however, as they continued their mad dash to escape.
Not too far away, Feng Ye, who had been observing this commotion, innocently shrugged his shoulders, loosening his grip on his ninjato.
What a coincidence—it really was Tsunade.
With the war looming, it seemed that Tsunade was still preoccupied with gambling, even bringing her newly accepted disciple, Shizune, along. It appeared that Tsunade was currently unconcerned about either the village or the impending war.
Feng Ye watched the direction in which Tsunade had fled, deep in thought.
He actually had some ideas about Tsunade's medical ninjutsu, or to be more precise, the 'Hundred Regeneration Technique,' a self-healing ninjutsu. In terms of self-healing, this technique was almost comparable to the body of a sage, or in some ways, similar to it.
After the First Hokage, no one in the Senju clan had been able to cultivate the body of a sage, so there was no specific method of training for it.
There were only two ways for him to attain the body of a sage in the future. One was to transplant Hashirama's cells, and the other was to figure it out himself.
He wouldn't resort to transplanting Hashirama's cells unless it was absolutely necessary. On the one hand, it was too dangerous, and on the other hand, even if he succeeded, it would, at best, be an incomplete sage body.
As for figuring it out himself, it was impossible to do it just by thinking about it.
He would need a solid foundation.
First, he needed to activate Orochimaru's cellular activation technique, which he had already acquired. Next, he needed the three great sage techniques from Mount Myoboku, the Dragon Vein Cave, and the Damp Bone Forest. With these three sage modes and finally, adding Tsunade's Hundred Regeneration Technique, Feng Ye was confident he could cultivate a true sage body!
"But my current training is already quite diverse."
After some thought, Feng Ye eventually shook his head.
Now wasn't the time to cultivate the Hundred Regeneration Technique. Even if he approached Tsunade and learned the technique from her, he wouldn't be able to cultivate it for the time being.
Cultivating this technique required an enormous amount of chakra, and he currently didn't possess a physique capable of generating an extraordinary amount of chakra. In other words, he would also need to cultivate the Yin Seal, which would result in having too many things to cultivate, and his strength wouldn't increase in a short period.
The body of a sage was still too far away for him.
For now, he needed to focus on training that would directly enhance his strength.
When he could consistently possess Kage-level strength, and had the power to traverse the ninja world, that would be the time to consider the Hundred Regeneration Technique and Sage Mode.
"Speaking of which, if I want to obtain the training method for the Hundred Regeneration Technique, I should be able to get it through Shizune... but I might have to sell my body?"
Hold on.
Why did he think of selling his body?
Feng Ye patted his forehead, feeling that his train of thought had taken a slight turn, and he couldn't help but mock himself.
As long as he could get enough gambling capital and then bet with Tsunade, wouldn't he be able to win the Hundred Regeneration Technique? After all, Tsunade had the 'passive skill' of always losing when she gambled.
At his age, his body hadn't fully developed yet, so unless it was absolutely necessary, he resolutely wouldn't sell his body. Who knew what 'excessive' things might be done to him?
"Forget it, there's no rush. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it."
Feng Ye made his way back to the hot spring inn.
After dinner, he returned to his room and closed his eyes. Before him appeared the familiar dark space, and a gigantic illusory clock loomed in his vision.
【The time for the next increase in the time multiplier should be coming soon. When the multiplier increases, a new ability will be unlocked as well.】
Staring at the gigantic illusory clock, Feng Ye murmured, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.
The golden hour hand was inching closer to the 2 o'clock position, and the gray mist at the 2 o'clock coordinate seemed to be gradually dissipating.
When the hour hand pointed directly at 2 o'clock, it would mean that the ability corresponding to that time would be unlocked.
Although he didn't know what the specific ability was, the power of time was almost never useless. Any ability involving time could be a powerful trump card!
Unless something unexpected happens, the next chapter will be released on the 1st of next month. Before the release, there will be stable updates, and after the release, there will be stable bursts. At the beginning of the month, I'll ask for a few recommendation votes~
