Chapter 438: How Are You Planning to Apologize to the British Isles!
Chapter 438: How Are You Planning to Apologize to the British Isles!
"Forgive me, Professor, who made you leave this mess for me to handle?" Ivan sighed. After all, he had no choice but to make this decision.
Then, Ivan glanced at his watch and decided the time was right. He waved his Wand and Apparated.
With a spatial shift, Ivan found himself once again in the Shrieking Shack. Noisy sounds were coming from one of the rooms.
Ivan straightened his clothes and walked in, speaking up.
"You still need to explain, Hals!"
After a night of juggling two identities, Ivan woke up the next morning with a yawn. He washed up quickly and, as usual, headed to the Great Hall for breakfast.
However, the situation was a bit different today. As soon as Ivan sat down, he saw a large group of Owls fly into the Great Hall, delivering Letters to the long tables of the Four Houses.
One Owl flew directly to Ivan and landed on his shoulder.
Ivan wasn't surprised. He reached out and took the newspaper tied to the Owl's leg.
He had specifically ordered the latest Daily Prophet for himself yesterday, intending to see if the other party had kept their promise.
Shocking! A Major Blunder by the Ministry of Magic? Azkaban escapee Sirius Black Exonerated Today? Real culprit Peter Pettigrew Captured at Hogwarts?
Ivan opened the newspaper, and the eye-catching headline immediately caught his attention, taking up a quarter of the page.
The content of the article was very satisfying to Ivan. It not only detailed the incident of the Secret-Keeper being replaced at the last minute but also harshly criticized the Ministry of Magic for imprisoning Sirius Black in Azkaban without a trial, suggesting that such cases might not be isolated incidents!
The entire article was filled with biting sarcasm and satire. Although the editor's name was not written at the bottom, Ivan immediately recognized it as Rita Skeeter's typical style.
At the end of the article, Rita Skeeter wrote:
"Even the most dangerous Dark Lord must be convicted through a fair trial by the law. The Ministry of Magic's abuse of power demands that the Minister apologize to the entire British magical community!"
"Choosing Rita Skeeter to write this piece was indeed the right decision!" Ivan muttered to himself, wondering if Fudge would be furious upon reading it.
No wonder Rita Skeeter had the courage to write the article but not the nerve to sign her name.
"Sirius, come and look! The Daily Prophet has reported on your and Peter Pettigrew's case!"
At that moment, Sirius was catching up with Lupin at the staff table. Hearing Harry's call, he raised an eyebrow and walked over.
The majority of the Gryffindor students were naturally welcoming. After listening to his stories all night, they had changed their views on Sirius and made room for him.
However, the young wizards from the other three Houses still remained cautious and kept their distance as Sirius passed by.
Sirius Black didn't pay much attention to this. He was well aware that once an impression was formed, it was difficult to change, and it wouldn't be easy to alter it in a short period of time.
After Ivan sat down, he handed the newspaper he was holding to Sirius.
"Thanks!" Sirius took the Daily Prophet and was somewhat surprised when he saw the news on the front page. The Daily Prophet had obtained the information so quickly and reported it without conducting interviews.
However, Sirius naturally knew more than Harry and the others, so he immediately guessed that Dumbledore must have used his influence to make it happen. He was deeply moved.
He knew very well what the Daily Prophet was like, and getting them to help wasn't easy.
"Hermione also reminded Sirius, "There's a mention of your case on the second page. It says the Wizengamot has decided to overturn your conviction, and it should happen in the next few days."
"Doesn't that mean that in a few days, Sirius, you'll be completely cleared of all charges?" Harry said happily.
"Exactly, it seems that way!" Sirius laughed heartily.
"Since we're off today, why don't we go to Hogsmeade to celebrate? We didn't get to have much fun there yesterday", Ron suggested with a hint of resentment.
"Of course, no problem. And this time, I'll cover all the expenses, as a way to make up for scaring you all yesterday!"
Sirius thought it was a good idea and agreed readily. He also planned to buy Ron a new pet.
After all, Peter Pettigrew would either spend the rest of his life in Azkaban or be executed by the Ministry of Magic, so he couldn't be Ron's pet anymore.
Considering that part of the blame for Peter's situation lay with him, Sirius asked Ron what kind of pet he would like.
"How about a chubby, white Rat? I can get one that's about the same size as Scabbers", Sirius suggested, thinking that Ron seemed to have a fondness for Rats.
"No, I don't want a Rat!" Ron shook his head wildly. Ever since he discovered that Scabbers was actually a balding middle-aged wizard, Rats had become one of his greatest fears, right after spiders.
"Maybe an Owl?" Sirius, surprised by Ron's strong reaction, suggested an alternative.
Ron thought about it and decided that it was highly unlikely for a wizard to disguise themselves as an Owl used for delivering mail, so he nodded in agreement.
Of course, Ron didn't forget to express his gratitude. If it weren't for Sirius offering to pay, he would probably have to wait a long time before he could have a pet of his own.
His mother would likely make him wait a few years and then give him a pet that George or Fred had discarded after graduating.
While Harry and the others were excitedly discussing how to celebrate with Sirius, Ivan turned his head to look out the window. A Phoenix with golden-red feathers circled in the sky, let out three calls, and flew directly toward them.
Before going to bed the night before, Ivan had instructed Fawkes to patrol the skies over Hogwarts today. If he spotted any Ministry of Magic personnel at Hogwarts, Fawkes was to notify him immediately.
Three calls meant that the Minister of Magic, Fudge, was coming!
