Chapter 436: Insight into the Past and Future
Chapter 436: Insight into the Past and Future
In the Land of Wano, within a certain mansion...
Feng Ye sat on a long, wooden chair in front of a desk, holding a newspaper and pondering its contents.
"Gold Lion has certainly been stirring up trouble lately."
Perhaps due to his existence rewriting much of the story, Gold Lion hadn't remained hidden for a decade before resurfacing. Instead, he had reappeared on the high seas long ago.
It seemed that he was unwilling to clash with Whitebeard's pirate crew, so Gold Lion had avoided the New World, confining his activities to the first half of the Grand Line and the Four Blues.
This had left the Navy Headquarters, with its forces concentrated in the Grand Line, unable to do anything about him.
Just last month, Gold Lion had destroyed a country in the East Blue, causing immense panic and disaster. The Navy Headquarters had dispatched Kuzan to the East Blue to capture Gold Lion, but ultimately failed.
"Hmm... The catastrophe he caused in the East Blue seems a bit excessive. Unlike other pirates, he seems to be the kind of guy who just wants to spread terror..."
Robin poked her head out from under the desk and spoke up.
Feng Ye placed his right hand on the table and gently tapped his fingers on the surface, pondering briefly. "It was a bit too much."
In the original story, Gold Lion would have remained hidden for a decade before resurfacing. Although he and Gold Lion had barely interacted so far, Gold Lion's early emergence and wanton creation of terror in the East Blue were undoubtedly due to the butterfly effect caused by Feng Ye's presence.
"Let's take a trip to the East Blue, then."
After a moment of contemplation, Feng Ye put down the newspaper, leaned back in his chair, stretched his body, and chuckled. "My travels have been interrupted for quite some time now."
Robin looked up at Feng Ye and smiled. "Will it be the same kind of trip as before?"
"If that's what you want, then so be it."
Feng Ye reached out and tucked a stray lock of hair behind Robin's ear, offering her a gentle smile.
At eighteen years old and dressed in a sleek kimono, Robin's face had lost its youthful immaturity. Especially now, dressed as a geisha, she exuded a captivating allure.
Sadly, the adorable little Robin of the past existed only in memories and photographs.
However, if Feng Ye wished, he could project all of Robin's past onto the screen in front of him, for his gaze now held the power to see through time.
About a year ago, the fifth notch of the Illusionary Clock had unlocked this ability.
Just as Feng Ye had guessed, this ability allowed him to peer into the past, complementing the fourth notch's ability to foresee the future.
Now, his gaze could freely traverse the realms of past and future, witnessing every scene from history and predicting various events yet to come.
This was indeed a power befitting a deity.
With the ability to discern the past and future, one could say that there were almost no unknowns left in Feng Ye's sight!
However, this seemingly formidable ability came with a strong side effect: it further diminished Feng Ye's human emotions.
Being able to see through the past and future, coupled with the power of the Six Paths, eternal youth, and immortality, meant that Feng Ye had transformed into a completely different kind of being from humans in every respect.
Any ordinary person who gained such abilities would inevitably undergo rapid and intense changes in their mentality and soul, drifting further and further away from their humanity in a short period.
Fortunately,
Feng Ye had been vigilant about this possibility from the very beginning, so his transformation was neither swift nor intense.
However, the truth was not that simple. Without her presence, Feng Ye's human emotions would have undoubtedly faded away irreversibly.
Due to her existence and her efforts, the current Feng Ye maintained a balanced and stable state, still capable of experiencing normal human emotions and thinking like a human.
And it was because of this,
Feng Ye tacitly accepted all of Robin's excessive behaviors and didn't mind her occasionally drawing a small amount of 'chakra' from him.
"Alright, Mr. Feng," Robin replied with a gentle smile.
She knew that she had already attained an irreplaceable position in Feng Ye's heart, one that no one could easily shake. Yet, she continued to perform her daily duties as a crew member and maid.
The reason was simple—she would never entrust this work to anyone else, preventing others from getting too close to Feng Ye.
Feng Ye understood Robin's thoughts and simply laughed it off. As long as she was happy, he didn't mind indulging in this maid role-play with her.
After a slight bow to Feng Ye, Robin left the room to prepare for their departure from the Land of Wano.
...
Three days later.
At the port of the Land of Wano, a large, three-masted schooner docked, pristine and immaculate.
The ship's interior was simple yet elegant, constructed from rare and precious wood.
Among its features,
The most prominent and heaviest section was a massive library that spanned the second, third, and fourth levels, occupying a significant portion of the entire ship.
The books within this library originated partially from the Land of Wano, but most had been collected from various places over the years.
"Phew..."
In a corner of the library,
Robin used her Devil Fruit ability to place the last batch of books on the shelves, then stepped back and exhaled softly.
She glanced over the vast library that spanned three levels, a smile forming on her face.
It was finally complete.
"You may all leave now," Robin said, turning to the group of samurai and ninjas who had been helping with the books. She nodded and thanked them.
"Yes," they replied in unison.
As the samurai and ninjas departed, Feng Ye entered the grand ship library. Seeing the extent of the collection, he couldn't help but chuckle and shake his head. "This library of yours is quite something."
Robin turned to face Feng Ye and smiled. "What do you think about traveling the world, collecting books, and creating a 'Vessel of Omniscience'?"
Feng Ye tilted his head and smiled back. "Now that you mention it, it doesn't sound too bad. Let's go with your plan, then."
He didn't particularly care about creating a 'Vessel of Omniscience' since he had spatial abilities that allowed him to instantly travel to marked islands. Even if the books were stored in the Land of Wano, he could easily retrieve them whenever he wanted.
But if Robin found joy in this endeavor, he was more than happy to indulge her in this small pleasure.
