Chapter 435: A Fateful Name
Chapter 435: A Fateful Name
"Annihilate Ember?" Ji Xinghuo mused.
Of course, this name referred to himself.
The True Dragon people placed great importance on surnames, using them to distinguish their bloodline, nobility, and social status in their daily interactions. Sometimes, one's class, background, and even strength could be discerned from their surname alone.
If one was a member of a True Dragon family, no matter how large or small, they would possess a surname from birth.
However, over 95% of True Dragon people did not belong to any family.
These commoners among the True Dragon people were only given a given name at birth and had no surname.
There were three ways for them to acquire a surname: the first and most common way was to become a Dragon Master through selection; the second was to embark on the path of a Dragon Warrior and attain the fifth rank; and the third was to join a True Dragon family and receive a surname bestowed by the clan leader.
Ji Xinghuo fell into the first category.
"Since I'm now a Dragon Master, I can have a surname?" There were also two ways for a Dragon Master to obtain a surname.
If they already had a surname before becoming a Dragon Master, they could choose to keep it even if it didn't match their dragon bloodline.
Of course, the Dragon Master was free to change it if they wished.
However, most Dragon Masters wouldn't do so as it implied a disconnect from their family.
The other way was for those who originally had no family and had just become a Dragon Master—they would take their dragon's vein as their surname.
Almost all the founders of the various families had risen in this manner.
"Surname Annihilate?"
Ji Xinghuo felt that it sounded a bit strange. Although the name Annihilate Ember sounded majestic and very much in line with the True Dragon people's naming style, and others would immediately know that he possessed an Annihilate Dragon upon hearing it, he still felt odd about it.
Just the name alone would be enough to intimidate countless people.
He hadn't thought about what surname he would take, but Cobalt-Titanium Dragon King had immediately bestowed 'Annihilate' upon him and even informed Titanium Qingwei.
This was equivalent to announcing to the world that he was the Annihilate Dragon Master.
The so-called banquet was probably also arranged by the Titanium Dragon King, but Ji Xinghuo couldn't understand the Dragon King's intentions.
"Ask Elder Sister Lan."
Ji Xinghuo went upstairs with the invitation in hand. Titanium Lan was cultivating, so he waited for a moment before she finally emerged from her cultivation room.
"What is it?"
Titanium Lan asked casually as she sat down opposite Ji Xinghuo. As she looked at him, her eyes suddenly paused, and a strange thought emerged in her mind. The man before her was truly handsome, exuding masculine charm. If only...
"I received an invitation from Titanium Qingwei," Ji Xinghuo began, but noticed that Titanium Lan's eyes seemed a bit unfocused. Puzzled, he asked, "Elder Sister Lan?"
"Huh?"
Titanium Lan finally snapped back to attention, feeling ashamed of the thoughts that had just crossed her mind. However, she concealed it well, and with a calm facade, she asked, "An invitation from Qingwei? What did she invite you to do?"
Ji Xinghuo handed her the invitation.
Titanium Lan only glanced at it before furrowing her brows. "Annihilate Ember? Why did she give you this name?" Her eyes widened as she fixed her gaze on Ji Xinghuo, and she asked excitedly, "Have you hatched the Annihilate Dragon?"
"Yes," Ji Xinghuo nodded.
"Where's the dragon?"
A dark golden light flew out from Ji Xinghuo's chest and quickly enlarged above their heads, revealing a dark golden divine dragon.
The Annihilate Dragon coiled and spiraled in the spacious top-floor hall, its wings leaving trails of golden light as it moved gracefully, like a fantastical dream.
"It truly is an Annihilate Dragon!"
Titanium Lan's eyes sparkled with amazement, and she couldn't help but exclaim in awe.
Among the seven great divine dragon species, the Annihilate Dragon was the rarest and most mysterious. This was the first time Titanium Lan had seen an Annihilate Dragon with her own eyes, and it was exactly as described in the records. From this small-sized dragon, she could sense a destructive aura.
"You actually hatched it!" Titanium Lan's gaze returned to Ji Xinghuo, and she couldn't help but feel astonished.
Uncle Ping had clearly stated that it was a dead egg.
The Titanium family had been established for over ten thousand seasons, and countless Dragon Kings and Dragon Breeding Masters had researched and examined this Annihilate Dragon egg countless times. Innumerable people had seen it, but no one had ever thought to hatch it.
Yet, Ji Xinghuo, after seeing the dragon egg just once, had chosen it resolutely and successfully hatched it.
Although she didn't know how he had done it, the results spoke for themselves.
Ji Xinghuo now possessed an Annihilate Dragon!
"It was just luck,"
Ji Xinghuo laughed lightly. What he didn't know was that his smile held a powerful allure for Titanium Lan. That calm confidence born from being in control and his ability to create miracles captivated her, causing her heart to flutter.
Titanium Lan took a deep breath, sensing that something was amiss with her thoughts.
She forcibly pulled her attention back to the invitation and said, "How did Qingwei know that you hatched the Annihilate Dragon?"
"The Dragon King informed her," Ji Xinghuo replied.
"No wonder,"
Titanium Lan nodded. As she looked at the words on the invitation, she suddenly smiled and said, "Don't worry, it's definitely not a bad thing. Go ahead and attend the banquet." Just as Ji Xinghuo was about to ask a question, Titanium Lan's butler knocked on the door and entered, also holding an invitation.
"Qingwei has invited me as well. We can go together," Titanium Lan showed her invitation.
Ji Xinghuo asked, "Elder Sister Lan, do you have any guesses as to what this is about?"
"No, it's just a normal banquet," Titanium Lan replied with a relaxed expression as she admired the Annihilate Dragon. "This is your dragon. Even at such a young age, it already possesses such formidable strength. As expected of a divine dragon species! Have you given it a name yet?"
"Let's give it a name now, something majestic to match the fame of the Annihilate Dragon," Titanium Qingtian suggested.
Ji Xinghuo thought for a moment, unsure of what would be a suitable name. His gaze drifted through the floor-to-ceiling windows, taking in the dragon flags fluttering throughout Titanium Ring City. The image of the End of Days Dragon was embroidered on them, bearing a striking resemblance to the Annihilate Dragon, and suddenly, an idea came to mind.
The circumstances of the Annihilate Dragon's hatching had led him to suspect that it was somehow connected to the End of Days Dragon.
Ji Xinghuo recalled the legend of the End of Days Dragon.
When it awakens from its slumber of millions of years, the world will enter its final moments, and it will bring about the destruction of the Star Realm, ending all civilizations in the galaxy.
"Doomsday," Ji Xinghuo said.
"What?" Titanium Qingtian didn't quite catch what he said.
Ji Xinghuo looked up at the Annihilate Dragon hovering above them and repeated, "Doomsday. That's the name I've chosen for it."
"So it will bring doom to its enemies?" Titanium Qingtian considered the name, nodding with approval. "It's a fitting name for the Annihilate Dragon." She addressed the dragon in the air, "From now on, your name is Doomsday."
Doomsday lightly fluttered its wings and happily circled in the air.
"Perhaps not just enemies..." Ji Xinghuo thought to himself.
He let Doomsday play with Titanium Qingtian for a while, satisfying her curiosity about the Annihilate Dragon, before calling it back to turn into a tattoo on his body.
Night fell.
Ji Xinghuo left his home.
Titanium Qingtian changed into a set of sleek battle attire, her half-blue, half-black hair pulled back, giving her an impressive and valiant appearance.
"Why are you dressed like that, Lan jie?" Ji Xinghuo asked, puzzled by her choice of attire, which seemed more suited for a fight than a banquet.
Titanium Qingtian appraised Ji Xinghuo from head to toe. He still wore his usual form-fitting light armor with an outer layer of tantalum-silicon battle armor. His tall and well-proportioned frame was accentuated by his neat short hair, and his clean-shaven face gave him a fresh and crisp look.
"Very nice, very handsome," she complimented.
"Let's go," Ji Xinghuo said.
Without answering his question, Titanium Qingtian took the lead, and Ji Xinghuo had no choice but to follow. Soon, they flew out of Upper Titanium Ring City.
The two descended towards Lower Titanium Ring City.
Today was the last day of the End of Days Dragon ceremony, and Lower Titanium Ring City was illuminated with bright lights as people indulged in wild celebrations, filling the entire city with a festive atmosphere.
However, almost constantly, someone would give in to their inner desire for destruction and start brawling or smashing things, keeping the dragon guards of Titanium Ring City busy as they worked to suppress the troublemakers.
A moment later.
Ji Xinghuo and Titanium Qingtian flew across most of the city and arrived at a lake area.
This was an artificially excavated lake with an elliptical shape, approximately ten kilometers long and five kilometers wide at its ends. There weren't many buildings along the lakefront, mostly open spaces. On both sides of the lake's middle section were platforms resembling viewing decks, and at this moment, quite a few tourists were strolling along the lakeshore.
"Let's go down," Titanium Qingtian said, pointing to the largest cluster of buildings by the lake. Among them was a building over a dozen stories high, occupying a vast area, offering a panoramic view.
This was where Titanium Qingwei was holding the banquet.
From a distance, one could see that the top of the building had been transformed into a spacious terrace, beautifully decorated and dazzling with gold and brilliance. Square tables were arranged in rows, and each guest was provided with their own table, attended by dedicated servers.
All the waiters were True Dragon people, handsome men and beautiful women dressed in uniform attire.
Ji Xinghuo swept the area with his electromagnetic sensing ability.
Many guests had already arrived, including several familiar faces—geniuses who had participated in the Apocalypse Dragon Ceremony, as well as some Dragon Masters, ranging from the fifth to the sixth rank. Their magnetic fields were distinct from ordinary people, and their energy fluctuations were exceptionally powerful.
The guests enjoyed exquisite dishes while admiring the night view of the lake, creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
The two landed.
Their arrival drew the attention of many, who turned to look at them.
"Aunt Lan," a crisp voice rang out.
Soon, a graceful figure approached and greeted them.
She stood at around 1.7 meters tall, which was not particularly tall among True Dragon women, but her breathtaking beauty was stunning. Her skin was snow-white, her eyes like moons, and her silver hair was styled in an intricate fashion. She wore a silver-blue dress that combined luxury and practicality, exuding a pure and noble aura, like a celestial maiden descended from the heavens.
Ji Xinghuo nodded inwardly.
Indeed, she was the most beloved princess of the Titanium family, and her resemblance to the Titanium Dragon King's bloodline was evident. She was a masterpiece of nature, with looks and figures comparable to Man Ying and Ye Zhen, each with their own unique allure.
"Qingwei," Titanium Qingtian responded with a smile, indicating their close and amicable relationship.
"We've been waiting for you, Aunt Lan. Welcome!" Titanium Qingwei took Titanium Qingtian's hand, and her eyes drifted to Ji Xinghuo, a hint of surprise flashing across her face. Her eyes sparkled with a hint of curiosity as she asked, "Are you Jin?"
