Chapter 434: Ronan's Threat (Second Update)
Chapter 434: Ronan's Threat (Second Update)
Ten minutes ago, hidden about a million kilometers away from Contraxia on the Darkstar, Ronan, holding the Kree Warhammer, was roaring at the screen:
"Thanos, your daughter Gamora has long betrayed us, and the Nova Empire somehow managed to get a cosmic-level battleship. They've been harassing me like flies all this time.
You need to help me deal with the Nova Empire first before I can continue helping you search for the Cosmic Sphere!"
On the screen, Thanos, clad in golden Titan War Armor, looked at Ronan coldly and said:
"Gamora is my beloved daughter; she would never betray me. Kree, our agreement is that you help me find the Cosmic Sphere, and I help you destroy the Nova Empire.
I'll give you two more months. If you can't bring the Cosmic Sphere back to me by then, I will destroy you first and personally retrieve it!"
With that, the screen went dark, clearly indicating that Thanos was no longer willing to waste words and had issued his final ultimatum.
"Thanos, once I get the Power Stone, destroy Xandar, and unify the Kree Empire, I will kill you with my own hands!"
Ronan, furious, waved the Kree Warhammer, releasing a powerful shockwave that shattered the darkened screen.
At that moment, his most trusted subordinate, Pursuer Korath, rushed in to report:
"Master, Nebula has sent a message. The little scoundrel Star-Lord and Gamora have finally appeared on Contraxia!"
"Good, head to Contraxia immediately!"
Ronan, who was seething with anger due to Thanos's contempt and threats, was suddenly overjoyed upon hearing this news. He quickly ordered the Darkstar to head to Contraxia.
Since the last time he destroyed the Kyln Prison, Ronan had lost track of Star-Lord and Gamora.
Later, intelligence suggested they had appeared on a small black market planet, but by the time he arrived, they had already left, taken away by the notorious Yondu the Ravager.
Just as they were about to follow the trail left by Yondu's fleet, they encountered the Nova Corps, who had been sent to hunt them down.
The Nova Corps, using the Dark Elf Battleships and combat ships they had purchased from Jerry, along with some of the Nova Empire's vessels, had significantly increased their strength.
To preserve his forces, Ronan had no choice but to flee the Nova Empire's territory hastily.
Considering that Star-Lord and Gamora had been taken by the Ravagers, they decided to lay in wait on Contraxia, hiding the Darkstar in an asteroid belt not far from the planet.
Then, they sent Nebula to infiltrate the planet to gather information about Yondu's fleet.
"Master, there are many powerful Ravager teams on Contraxia. Won't our direct invasion provoke their retaliation?"
Pursuer Korath, somewhat hesitant, reminded him.
Before joining Ronan, Korath had been a member of the Kree Space Special Forces and had been a teammate of the powerful Carol Danvers for a few days. He had traveled to many planets and was well-informed.
He knew that for Contraxia to have existed for so long, the Ravagers' strength must not be underestimated.
"A bunch of rabble. If they stay out of my way, that's best. Otherwise, I'll deal with them all!"
Ronan snorted coldly, clearly determined to get the Power Stone no matter what.
He was not unaware of the difficulty in dealing with the Ravagers, but as the most powerful fleet of the Kree Empire, he was confident that even if it came to a fight, the scales would tip in his favor.
Even if the final victory is a Pyrrhic one, he doesn’t care.
Because with the Power Stone, combined with his Universal Weapon, even without the Darkstar, and without an army, he alone is enough to destroy Xandar and achieve his goal.
“Yes, Master!”
Seeing Ronan’s determination, Korath said no more.
“He must have come for the Cosmic Sphere. Ronan and Thanos made a deal; if he finds the Cosmic Sphere, Thanos will help him destroy the Nova Empire!”
Gamora, spotting the Darkstar in the sky, immediately voiced her suspicions.
“So, someone must have informed him that we are here?”
Star-Lord drew his Elemental Gun.
Rocket quickly pulled out his enhanced Shock Gun:
“The key is that we’ve only just arrived. How could he get here so fast?”
“Ronan, I will kill him!”
Drax, who had already drawn his dagger, roared in anger.
His purpose in escaping prison was to avenge the deaths of his family by killing Ronan. Seeing the Darkstar appear, he entered a state of rage.
Jerry pointed to the right side of the street and replied to Rocket:
“It seems he anticipated we would come here and has already set up an ambush.”
As Jerry spoke, a tall, blue, half-mechanized figure, accompanied by a group of Kree soldiers, emerged from the right side of the street, striding confidently:
“My dear sister, Gamora, it’s been a long time!”
“Everyone on Contraxia, listen! We have only come to capture Star-Lord and Gamora. As long as you don’t interfere, we won’t be enemies. Otherwise, you will face the full wrath of my master, Ronan!”
At that moment, a loud warning sounded from the Darkstar in the sky.
Immediately, a swarm of Necrocrafts flew out from the Darkstar, covering the entire sky above Contraxia, ready to attack at any moment.
“Sister, did you hear? Hand over the Cosmic Sphere and come back with me to face punishment. I think this time, the evidence is clear, and Father won’t favor you.”
Nebula’s voice was tinged with a hint of schadenfreude.
“Nebula, the battle isn’t over yet. You’re celebrating too soon!”
Gamora swiftly drew her combat knife.
Star-Lord also aimed his gun at Nebula, cockily saying:
“Want to take Gamora? First, you’ll have to ask my twin guns. And by the way, we’ve already sold the Cosmic Sphere!”
“Sold! To whom?”
Nebula was taken aback.
The primary goal was the Cosmic Sphere; capturing Gamora was secondary, and Star-Lord was just a side target.
“Sold to me!”
Jerry smiled as he retrieved the Cosmic Sphere containing the Power Stone from the Ring World.
At that moment, his mind wasn’t on how to deal with the Darkstar and the countless Necrocrafts in the sky. Instead, he was thinking about whether he would receive red stars if Ronan attacked Contraxia.
Logically, he should.
Although the situation was his doing, and Ronan’s target was the Cosmic Sphere in his possession, the Panel didn’t care about such details. If Ronan attacked Contraxia, countless Ravagers would die, and by preventing those deaths, he would be doing a good deed, earning red stars.
